The Collectivist government is employing Hexbolt and Test as undercover smugglers to try and bring down a smuggling operation. They had contacted a smuggler named Meeka. They Are smuggling low grade recycled Collectivist arms to the Interspecies alliance. Meeka is not informed on this operation as she is actually a smuggler and is making good money. Hexbolt and Test are posing as deserters who acquired all of this equipment and want some money to sell for it. Meeka is taking them all to a secret asteroid base on the borders of four empires. The plan is once Hexbolt get to the base. they activate homing beacon that will call in the Calvary and end the sting operation.
They just left the space port in collectivist territory and now are in hyperspace. It is quiet for the moment, no threats and nothing to do but explore around the ship and mingle with each other and Meeka's crew.

Meeka had accepted the job of course because of the money. She still was wary about letting the two strangers on her ship. But they had the weapons, and the money. And it seemed they were planning something. They had some time before they arrived. She sat at a table in the cafeteria area, absently tinkering with some sort of device she was working on.
Hexbolt, having put the ship into autopilot, also found himself with little to do, so he sat across from Meeka listening to music from a small, portable radio and working on putting together a set of tinkering tools that would make his future projects much easier. The components weren't hard to come by, but he was picky when it came to their quality and fretted over seemingly trivial minutia. He was of the mindset that the quality of one's work was reflected in the upkeep of one's tools and equipment. Once he was satisfied that the tools had been properly oiled and sharpened or whatever they needed, he began to fasten leather grips and a carrying case. Excitedly he showed Meeka and Test. "See that? You'll be hard-pressed to find needle nose pliers like this that won't come apart at the hinge or get stiff!" His silver gray eyes danced as he absently wiped some metal polish on his apron. "These alone will be worth the last hours work, but it's all this good, I daresay. If I have more time after this, I'm going to test them by making a pair of darkvision goggles!"
Meeka looked up slightly from her own work as she heard Hexbolt. Looking at his meticulously shined tools. Seemed like a waste of time to her. It wasn't the tools, it was the one using them. You didnt need shiny tools to get a job done. Sometimes you didn't even have tools.
"If nothing else, all I would ever need is my trusty wrench." She pulled it out of the pocket it her coat. It was definitely old and rusty in some places. With a small painted symbol in the middle that was starting to chip and fade. "Its never disappointed me."

((Would you want to join either of my campaigns?)"Personally, I'd be worried about Tetanus, carrying that. To be fair though, I don't know much about your species, Perhaps you're immune." Hexbolt shrugged. "I suppose a wrench, while not ideal for such a role as that of a hammer, could serve as a substitute. I do, however, have to wonder how you handle screws or more delicate work. But, hey, if it works for you, who am I to judge? Um, how are you enjoying the music? It's a little, um, industrial, I admit, but it reminds me of home." He tilted his head. "I can find another station if you like."
((Sure. You have the TMNT one?))
Meeka looked at her trusty wrench, glancing back over to Hexbolt. It had always come through for her before. She had built had taken apart plenty with it. Even helping her out of some stickier situations. The ships engines even had been fixed plenty of times, and a lot of other systems around the ship. And it was going along just fine. She slipped it back into her pocket.
"You can listen to whatever you want as far as I'm concerned." She said with a small shrug. "Where is it that you call home anyway?"

((Yep. Just opened it. You can find it on the home page. I've also got a TMNT group outside of this one. You can probably find it on my profile, or I can post a link for you if you like.))"Forgive me. I did not intend to insult you. I was merely making an observation. Anyway, as for my homeworld, I doubt you would have heard of it, unless..." He paused, realizing he was supposed to be undercover.
((I'll go and have a look.))
He trailed off without answering her question. Why wouldn't she had heard of it? Unless he was just as secretive as he was meticulous. She shrugged. Sitting back in her chair, resting her legs over the table.
"Been to a lot of planets and colonies." She said. "Some tucked in the farthest corners. "Though there are still plenty of colonies, and more I have yet to visit."

Suddenly aware that his silence had become more suspicious than the truth, Hexbolt scratched the back of his head. He supposed he needed to commit to his role. "I was bred to be an enlisted officer in the Collective on a small backwater planet that I recently learned has been destroyed. I didn't take to fighting and chose to desert. I found passage on a smuggling freighter where I learned engineering and I soon took over when several members of that crew were killed on a blockade run gone wrong."
"That is quite a story." She said, though she had heard similar stories before. Though she had never actually met one of the collectives bred soldiers. She had of course had a few encounters. "Managing to escape from the collective. "Definitely quite a feat."

One of the crew heard hexbolt say that he was from the collective and wandered over to the conversation. “Really No shit a former collective officer? We might make more money turning you into the torak than our haul with this run.” He said teasing hexbolt. “I’ve heard that actually living collective soldiers are rare. They mostly rely on legionnaires, which are dead clones or assimilated organisms. Brought back to life with cybernetics. You are lucky because they are relentless.” Chimes in the crew member.
((I meant to say soldier not officer. Oops.))Hexbolt winced as they mentioned turning him in, worried that he'd overplayed his hand. "Um, or you know, you could rely on my experience in this area to give you an edge. I know how they think. That's how I escaped. It's how I can help you. It's how I have helped you."
Meeka let a out a laugh, hearing Hexbolts response.
"Lucky for you we need your help." She teased. "Sometimes experience is better then money. "Though money is still good." She smiled, getting to her feet. "Just dont give me a reason not to trust you." Not that she ever trusted anyone, but for now she had to if this was to succeed.

The crewman laughed from what Meeka said. “Yeah I suppose you are right experience is valuable. And what cap says goes. If she wants you around. Then no one here will hand you in.” He said with a smile. Then there was an announcement from the pilot over Meeka’s coms. “Exiting hyperspace now. Cap we are receiving a distress signal from a human patrol craft. Could have some good stuff on it. Should we go help out?”
Meeka glanced to the com on her wrist, hearing the pilot.
"Distress signal huh?" She said thoughtfully. "I suppose we can make a small detour." She pressed the small button her com. "Make an intercept course, come in slow." She looked over Hexbolt. "We'll see how grateful they are." She wasnt above helping people, but if it was a patrol craft then she sure they had something that would make the trip worth it. "Come on, let's see what trouble they're in."

"Rodger that cap, Do you want us to board or do you want to fly out to them" Asked the Pilot over the coms. The other crewman with Hexbolt and Meeka seemed satisfied with her decision. "Best case scenario we might get a UNSC patrol in our back pocket. Worst case we get a bunch of Human loot and maybe some new crew." He said, then went back to his station. "The Ship appears to be called the vigilance and it looks like it has power, and life support. But they appear to just be drifting, like no one is driving." Said the Pilot to Meeka.
"Well, frankly I suspect it to be a trap, but if they are legitimately without power and in trouble, I might be able to provide some help. Either they're trying to obtain something from us or we can obtain something from them. It seems important either way. I vote we check it out." He turned to Meeka, and realized he'd spoken out of turn. "My apologies, Captain. I believe that was your call to make."
"We aren't soldiers here." Meeka said shaking her head. "I maybe captain, but I would rather hear all opinions then you keep it to yourself." She looked at the display on her wrist, seeing the scan of the ship. "I agree it could very well be a trap. "However there is still a chance the crew is in trouble. "Either way we'll come out of this with something of value. "Let's get ready to board, and be prepared for anything."

"Acknowledged." Said the pilot as they brought their ship in close and then connected airlocks with the ship. The scans of the ship revealing only two heat signatures, showing that there was at least two living humans. "We will defend the ship Captain, make sure nothing tries to come aboard and harm our ship. You should take Hexbolt He seems useful." Said the crewman to the group.

As Hexbolt and Meeka enter the ship, they arrive near engineering. The life signs appear to be in the medical room and the generator room. Just then the power to the ship turns off. Leaving the pair in the dark. "Cap, it appears the life form in the generator room just went cold. If it is a human they might have just died." Warned a crewman in charge of sensor.

"That was the only lifeform in there? Can you determine the nature of the cause of death? Was it a hull breach? An airborne toxin?" Hexbolt tried to keep a level tone, but his voice betrayed a small quiver as he pulled up the map of the stranded ship on his wrist mounted hologram projector. The blue light cast a dim glow over the small workspace. It wouldn't have been enough to work by, but it would keep him from hitting the metal work benches. He tried to run a diagnostic, but his signal was flaky. "Drat! Should have charged this!"

"There still appears to be a lifeform in the medical room. It appears the hull is in tact and life support is working as it should. We don't know what did it, you might need to investigate." Said the crewman looking at the sensors. There was a smeared trail of blood leading to the cargo boxes. As if someone bleeding heavily was dragged to the cargo of the ship.
Meeka glanced around as the lights went out. She saw the two blips on the display on her wrist. The second going out. This wasn't good. She looked down, seeing the blood trail towards the cargo.
"Keep an eye in that lifeform." She said to her crew. "Let me know if anything changes." She looked over to Hexbolt. "I think we may be to late to help." She nodded towards the blood trail.

"Rodger." Said the crewman. The blood trail lead to the cargo set up neatly in the center of the ship. There looked to extra medical equipment, crates of ammo for human guns, missiles for missile pods. As well as a nuclear torpedo. There in the center of the cargo was two dead bodies. One man leaning against the nuke with what looked like his chest exploded from the inside. And a man in camo dragged up against a food box, the back of his head and back appeared to have several bite marks on it. He was even griping an SMG in his right hand. (These are all things you see without having to make a perception check.)
"Oh my..." Hexbolt muttered upon seeing the carnage. He fought to keep the bile rising in the pit of his stomach down. He immediately drew his blaster and held it out in front of him. With his other hand he reached for a glow stick at his belt and broke it, adding an aura of green light to the hologram's weak blue cast. The effect was like being just under the surface of a body of water. "Whatever just took out the generator's engineer must be headed for the med bay." Hexbolt asked the crewman over the comm unit. "Can you lower the airlock doors and see if we can trap it?"

“That is a negative, we don’t have access to the ships systems if you go to engineering you can give us access to the ship systems.” Said the crew man back over the coms. Just then there was a quick shadow on the East wall. Something was in the same room as them.
(Feel free to make perception checks or investigation checks at your leasure it might give useful info.)

Meeka of course noticed all the equipment and cargo. Automatically thinking how much they could get for all of it. Though she knew they had other things to worry about. Seeing the bloody scene in front of them. Something had ripped apart the two men. She sighed, seeing the one that appeared to have almost been eaten. Hearing Hexbolts gagging. She did her best to keep a somewhat calm demeanor. Feeling her stomach churn a bit as well. Putting her hand in her gun, sure she had just seen a flash of something near.

Meeka is able to see and feel a xenomorph scurry past them, darting through the boxes and crates. It made large vibrations on the ship and Meeka could feel it from her senses. The creature looked like it was stalking the pair, getting ready to pounce and eat them when they have their back turned. It also appeared that the SMG the dead soldier had was loaded, it may be useful if they want more firepower.
((If you were to pick up the SMG, you could use it in semi auto or full auto. Semi, treat it the same as your blaster. in full auto, roll to hit and for each value you exceed the AC one bullet hits doing 1 d6 of damage. so if you get like a 19, 4 bullets hit, allowing you to roll 4 d6. Also the SMG in full auto grants a +3 to hit.))

((I'll make an investigation check to see if there are any other good weapons or something I can use to my advantage. I rolled a 19, but I remembered I also had a 19 in reserve, so if you want to use it, go ahead. I also have a +3 intelligence modifier.)) Hexbolt, seeing a large shadow in his peripheral view, turned quickly to face whatever had cast it and immediately wished he hadn't. Standing tall amidst the cargo crates was something that looked like the skeleton of a velociraptor with inky black skin. It's elongated head had no eyes and a jaw with several rows of razor sharp teeth dripping saliva on the floor. Panicking, Hexbolt fires twice at it with his blaster pistol. The first shot hits it in the thigh, but the second misses and hits the wall behind it. Hexbolt winces. Despite being aware that the amount of damage done to the wall by one blaster bolt would be negligible, he was wary of breaching the hull of the pressurized cabin.
((Hexbolt can make two attacks on his turn.)) The first was an 18 +3 to hit and did 6 total damage. The second was a 4 +3 to hit, so it missed.))

Hexbolt is able to see that there is a crate right next to him labeled grenades. These could do some damage, but placed in the wrong spot, might suck them all out to space. The Xenomorph roars and hisses then charges towards the pair. Looking to make them it's next meal.

((Hexbolt seeing the crate of grenades decided to take a chance and fired a blaster bolt at it as the xeno passed over it. He cursed as the bolt glanced off the metal and was deflected off to the floor. His eyes widened as it the creature came close to him. Listening his courage he drove and rolled under its legs and came up on his hands and knees. ((12+1=13 Acrobatics. Consider this my movement. If I can grab the xeno by the heel, I'd like to do so. If not, I'll crawl over to the grenades.))

The Xeno hisses as it hears Hexbolt shooting the grenade box. though the creature did not know it was grenades. It swipes at it with it's claws as Hex bolt rolls underneath him Clawing up his back. Then once Hexbolt arrives on the other Side the Xeno stabs his tail at him. Hexbolt now by the grenades is stabbed in the leg by the tail. Then the creature moves to grab Meeka, looking to make a tasty snack of her.
Meeka gritted her teeth, stumbling slightly but staying on her feet. She hadn't had time to react much. It had all happened pretty fast. But Seeing what Hexbolt was trying to do. She quickly deploys one of her turrets, quickly dashing over to grab the SMG.
((Okay shes deploying her turret. Having it obviously go for the xeno. Hopefully it can at least keep it a bit distracted if nothing else.))
((Okay shes deploying her turret. Having it obviously go for the xeno. Hopefully it can at least keep it a bit distracted if nothing else.))
Hexbolt groaned as he lay on the ground. His leg... well, judging by the pain in his back, he was glad he couldn't feel his leg. His blood roared in his ears and he felt his pulse in stereo as his blood stained his clothing a deep shade of cobalt. He weakly pulled a hand out from under his torso and placed it against his forehead. He closed his eyes and began to recite a mantra in his native Vedalken.((I'm going to cast a 2nd level cure wounds on himself for 2d8 + my spell casting ability modifier. (3 prof. + 3 int. = +6) worth of healing. 7+4+6=17 HP. And that's my turn for now. I don't think I can reasonably spend 10 minutes to ritual cast it, otherwise I would.))

The Xeno turns and hisses at the turret. It swipes it's claw at it smashing it easily. Then stabs it's tail at the other leg of Hexbolt and misses as it tries to bite Meeka with it's double bite. Landing the bite and taking a small chunk from her arm.
((Xeno HP 147))

Meeka cried out slightly, before clenching her jaw as the xeno took another go at her. She fell to one knee, breathing hard as she felt blood running down her hand. Doing her best to stay focused. She knew Hexbolt had some sort of plan for the grenades. She took in a breath, quickly activating her Jetpack.
((Wait how far away are the grenades?))
((Wait how far away are the grenades?))
Hexbolt heard Meeka over the comms. "Next to me. I'm taking them over the escape pod." He saw her starting her jetpack. "Meet me there. I'll heal you. Then it'll take me about another 12 seconds (2 turns) to get set up. Get back to engineering and be prepared to close the doors and launch when I give the signal. If all goes to plan, we'll check out the med bay. Sound good?"((I'm answering your question in character. I think we need to be on the same page here. I know it's a bit meta, but we will never beat this otherwise, I think, because of the long-form format and the lack of in person interactions. I'll take my action to carry the box over if you like the plan.))
((Yeah that's sort of my thought.))
Meeka quickly activated her jet pack, hearing Hexbolts response. Everything had happened so fast, she hadn't really had time to react much. Especially not even knowing what this creature was. At the moment this was the only plan that they had.
"Alright." She said. "I got it, lets do this. "I'll meet you there."

Hexbolt nodded, knowing Meeka could see him. "Great." He picked up the box and moved as quickly as he could toward the escape pod. In case of emergencies, the hatch door was designed to open fairly easily. Hexbolt was also glad to see it had a viewing port. He set the box inside on the ground. He flinched as Meeka flew in behind him. "Sorry, you startled me. "Okay, this might look and, frankly, feel a bit strange..." He put a hand on Meeka's forehead and began to mutter in Vedalken. As he did, he knew Meeka would begin to feel her wounds mend themselves in order of severity--- life threatening first, superficial last. "Sorry," he said sadly as he stopped he knew he hadn't done much for her.. "I'm a bit low on my magic energy and I need the last bit for this plan to go off. Will you be alright?" ((I'd cast it at 2nd level, but I need the slot. As it is I can give you 1d8 +6 HP. Of course, naturally, I would roll a 1. 7 total. Long as you fly, you should be able to avoid the Xeno.))

The xeno hissed as the alien produced a jet pack and flew away towards the escape pods. Instead of running after the the one that could fly it simply faded back into the darkness and tried to stealth fir a better position.
((16+ 11=27 to stealth.))
((16+ 11=27 to stealth.))
"Mmmm..." Hexbolt groaned nervously. "On second thought, could you take me with you as soon as I finish this? I don't mean to alarm you, but we might have a visitor sooner than expected and I'd rather not be here for the housewarming."
Meeka flew towards the escape pod, coming down beside Hexbolt. Seeing him flinch, though she didn't blame him. She nodded slightly as he reached his hand to her forehead. Wasn't the first time she had been healed like this, but he was right it still felt strange.
"Nah, dont worry about it." She said as he pulled back from her. "I've had worse." She glanced back into the room. "Then I suggest you hurry it up. "Then I'll get us out of here. "But for now..."
((I'd like to put my barrier around the entrance of the pod.))

((Since that's her action, I'm going to use one of my artificer infusions to make the grenades emit a sound that will hopefully lure the xeno to investigate.))Hexbolt picked up one of the grenades and imagined the sound he'd made after being injured. The rasp of his labored breathing, the coughing as his lungs slowly filled with blood, and the wheezing moan as pain racked his entire body. After a few seconds, the sound actually began to emit from the metal capsule. It was eerie. Hexbolt shuddered as a phantom pain ran down his spine. "Okay, that'll do it," he whispered. "I can do the next part from a distance. Let's get back to engineering."
Meeka blew out a breath as she used the stimpak. At least that helped for now. Putting it back into her pack, that never got any easier. She glanced over to Hexbolt, waiting for him to finish. Keeping ready to fly back out of there. She nodded as she heard him.
"I owe you a drink after this." She put her hand out towards him. "Let's go."
((So I'm gonna try and get us both there quickly.))

((Yeah. I'll go with her to help get the power back and launch the pod. I'll wait to see what happens.))Hexbolt took Meeka's hand with one of his own and his blaster in the other preparing himself for the flight. "Oh, actually... well, you know what? Sure. And I'll treat you to dinner. Uh, or a late lunch, rather." As they took off, he kept his eyes peeled for the creature.

Once the group gets to engineering. The door opens and reveals a 15ft by 25ft room. On one wall there is many computers that would control the systems of the ship. But it seems they are all down due to the lack of power. Only life support is online and functional. The room is in dim red light as it is running on backup power from the stored batteries in engineering room. On the opposite wall is a bunch of electrical panels with wires leading to all parts of the ship. This is clearly the room one would go to if they wanted to do maintenance in the ship. But the lack of power renders most of the tools in the room useless.
Meeka quickly got them to engineering. Landing in the room, and glancing around. Clearly engineering.
"We have to get the power up." She said thoughtfully, looking over the wires and electrical pannel.
((So we need to get power to that escape pod. I think Im going to try and reroute some of the power that is left to it.))

It is abundantly clear to Meeka and Hexbolt that there is something going on with the reactor and if they could fix it, the whole ship could be powered up.

((I have the shocking grasp cantrip, so I can help give you some juice to route.))Touching down, Hexbolt took in his surroundings. When it became apparent what was needed he walked over to an electrical panel and touched one of the wires to the computer terminals. Zap! A spark flew off his finger tip.
"I'll head over and access the damage." He told Meeka afterward. He took a quick look outside, then raising his blaster, jogged over to the reactor room.
