SOLVED. Historical Scottish/regency - hero marries spoiled Gemma on a bet that he can make her fall in love [s]

Hero is a titled lord of some sort, makes a bet with his friends that he can make anyone fall in love with him and they choose pampered Gemma as the victim. He tells her father the truth and gets permission to marry her, and after the wedding they depart for a 'honeymoon' in a crofter's hut and live rough for several weeks. She makes glue oatmeal, and he fixes it.

After a while he decides to give up and go home, but his friends already instructed the servants to turn him away, they seek shelter in the village with kind tenants, Gemma gets sick and has a miscarriage (and this is the part where I get out the tissues) they fight their feelings of anger and love towards each other.
