Well, we will enjoy it together.
Well, we will enjoy it together.
So I thought the first part was confusing, but now that I'm a little further in I have things straightened out. The furies are unique...not fey but more like elementals? And each person has their own personal furies.
I think I'm going to like Amara and Tavi both.

This seems so familar. I agree the first part was confusing. The furies are interesting. The ones that control water are cool.

Basically yes, attempting a hostile takeover. The first part was confusing. Just keep going and it will tie together and start to make sense.

I finished. I liked it but didn't love it. I understand it is a series but I'm not interested in continuing. It makes me sad because I wanted to love it.

For a thousand years, the people of Alera have united against the aggressive and threatening races that inhabit the world, using their unique bonds with the furies - elementals of earth, air, fire, water, wood, and metal. But in the remote Calderon Valley, the boy Tavi struggles with his lack of furycrafting. At fifteen, he has no wind fury to help him fly, no fire fury to light the lamps. Yet as the Alerans' most savage enemy - the Marat horde - returns to the Valley, Tavi's courage and resourcefulness will be a power greater than any fury, one that could turn the tides of war ...
