Jess Myname | 155 comments I saw this book in the library this summer, I thought it added it to my reading list but now I can't find it. This is what I can remember about the story. Years ago a little girl went missing from a small town it's tortured the detective for years that she never found her. If I remember right the second girl goes missing and now she's bound determined to figure out what's going on. I think she might have a daughter I seem to remember something about my mom will find her though I could be mixing it up with another book. I don't remember much more other then it was one of the books that was being featured on a display that usually means it's new or extremely popular or up for an award those are the three pedestals at my local library. If anyone has any ideas what this book might be please let me know. I think it's a teen book but I am not hundred percent positive on that it could be an adult book.

What country/region is this set in? Present day?

Jess Myname | 155 comments Sorry I thought I put it in unsolved, thanks for fixing that for me.

It is set in current times somewhere in the U.S.
Small town if I remembered right... With a woods on the outskirts of town.

Remember the cover?

Jess Myname | 155 comments I think the cover was darker baby blues or purples and I think it was the pictures of forest at night.
I think that they believe the children were lost in the woods or taken into the woods.

Sara (ireneattolia) Promise Not to Tell by Jennifer McMahon?

Jess Myname | 155 comments I did a Google search after pulling up the link you provided, thank you very much because the story sounded close to what I remember but the cover was nothing like what I remembered, and there is an alternative cover that in purples and blues with the girl running into the forest that's closer to what I remember. this may be the book. the thing I found funny is that there is another book by her called " don't breathe a word" that I came across when I was searching for a book this week that book actually triggered the memory of this book so it was absolutely hilarious if it ends up being by the same author. looks like I'm going on a trip tomorrow to track this book down and I will let you guys know if it's the right book or no. I really really need a good book because of the three books I picked up this weekend so far two have been put into the never going to finish pile. I actually had a good streak going there for a while lots of books I really enjoyed apparently I hit my maximum of the Carman had to go through a bit of stinker so cross fingers that this is the book I remember.
I am not hundred percent sure this is the book I am looking for but I'm hopeful thanks for your help everyone and if anyone else has any other suggestions let me know I'm always up for a good read.

Diana Welsch | 530 comments A book similar to this came up a couple of months ago, and i ended up being Every Secret Thing by Laura Lippman. Look familiar?

message 12: by Jess (new)

Jess Myname | 155 comments It's not Island of lost girls or fragile really starting to think it's probably one of Jennifer McMahons books so far there's two of her books his description sound the most familiar to me. and the cover of the one book looks the most like I remember.

Amy (amyinmn) | 70 comments Sounds like Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn. Courtney, I don't think Flynn has written a book entitled Scars??
