What Skye and Ricky did was horrible. The worst of it all was what Skye told Jameson at the hotel, making quite clear she did not care for any of her sons. I didn't like her before, now I have one more reason to hate her.

Also, Grayson's father is a piece of ship (I'm channelling my inner Max).
I really don't know what to think about all the fire thing. However, one idea keeps bouncing in my mind: what if the girl involved in the incident was Avery's mother? what if Toby and she were in love and decided to disappear? - apologize for all my rambling!

It makes three of us not huge fans of love triangles. However, to be honest, I have always rooted for Grayson, since book #1. I know it's trivial, but I feel as if Jameson loves the high he gets staying with Avery, while Grayson cares for the real person... and I feel bad for him, too: he seems to try to do what he feels right (stepping aside not to hurt his brother) and not what he wants to do.

Another question: the first enigma was designed for Gray and Jamie. Xander is supposed to find Toby... what did the old man write in his final messages to Nash? Why is he so interested in the money? What happened with Alisa? I feel as if we don't know enough about the older Hawthorne brother. is another big revelation waiting right around the corner?

I loved to know about Toby and Hannah. Their story was so sweet.
What let me down a bit was discovering about Eve and not just because really wanted him to be Avery's father. I mean, the story was full of misleading and mysteries. I don't think this twist was necessary. Rather, it somehow drew the attention away from Avery and Toby and what Toby felt for her (and for Hannah) even if he wasn't her biological father. I feel as if this revelation stripped Avery of the closure she deserved.

Another thing that I didn't enjoy was how the author decided to deal with the love triangle here. I have always rooted for Gray, but I am not disappointed because Avery choose Jameson. What I didn't like is how Gray was - not so smoothly - taken out of the picture. I mean, he started to drop the facade and to give some signs that he was alive would have fought for her... he was also the one that has always tried to protect Avery. So I cannot buy that, when she was in danger and needed him, he simply stood there doing nothing. That was too uncharacteristic of him.
On the other hand, I must admit that Jameson's progressive withdrawal from the game was pretty sweet.

I still can't figure what the disk is meant to be/do and I can't wait to discover that in the next book.

I loved the addition of Max, but I missed Libby in this book. I am quite surprised that, despite all the time she spent with Nash, we never got a glimpse of what was going on between them. In this book, Avery seemed just too focus on Toby (and then on the murder attempts) to ever notice her sister or how Libby was going through the whole situation.

I mean how brilliant is that? In the first book the idea that she was a Hawethorne was shut down pretty quickly, and then in this book we were all completely convinced that she was one, after all, only she isn’t! 😄 Also, I kept wondering how Ricky fit in and I really couldn’t see it. I hope we‘ll get to meet Evelyn in future books.
I liked the Toby-and-Hannah backstory. Also, Jameson has grown on me, I really liked what she did with his character and so I wasn’t disappointed with Avery‘s choice, after all. But the love triangle needs to be finished now, no going back to Grayson! (hide spoiler)]

On the plot side I am quite fascinated by the parts about Toby II. It is really hard to imagine Skye and Zara as little girls, and it is pretty hard to imagine that someone could have loved them! Wait wasn’t there a letter from Mr. Hawthorne to one of the brothers in the last chapter of the last book? Was that to Nash? I still don’t trust that guy at all.

I love the way Grayson and Jameson helped her out when she was overreacting about the fireworks :’) Xander is obviously hiding something and I can’t believe she let them get away with it like that. I’m glad some small things are repeated because I honestly didn’t remember much lmao. Lmao I actually have to read William Blake for my new masters!😂😂 Finally something I know lol. Or well sort of. Okay so I expected the charities to be linked to those kids that supposedly died, but I didn’t expect one of them to be Grayson's father holy shit!!! Or at least I think that’s what she’s saying. Hot damn, they’re all gonna find their fathers by the end of this aren’t they. The heart in her room was brutal though, but probably done by the Laughluns. Libby is finally realizing how stupid she is, and I’m glad. The way Avery took the bottle from her father to get a DNA test was so smart btw damn. They’re going on a little break to go after some clues hihi, can’t wait. It definitely does feel like an unnecessary risk, something is definitely going to happen.

Ugh no why do Thea and Rebecca have to come ugh. I don’t like Xander at the moment because he keeps including them and they suck. Massively. I’m glad Grayson and Jameson are coming too though, makes it less likely that something will go wrong lol.
