When Max tries to interview Tom, one of the boys who went camping with Scott, he is more than reluctant to talk to her. Her later attempts to talk to the other two, Art and Carlos, were even worse. What suspicions and theories, if any, did that raise for you? Was it possible (or probable) their reactions were because they felt genuine sorrow and guilt over Scott’s disappearance?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments They were suspicious because the failed to report Scott went missing right away. I didn't for a second believe them. The were guilty for sure.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3485 comments Tom felt bad, but the other two didn't. I was suspicious as soon as Max started interviewing everyone on campus. They were up to no good.

Robin (robinmy) | 2454 comments I figured Tom was hiding something when Max talked to him the first time. He just gave her the brush-off. When she attempted to talk to him again with his friends Art and Carlos around, it became obvious that they were all hiding something about Scott's death.

I could give Tom the benefit of the doubt when Max first met with him but when he immediately went running to Art and Carlos, I knew they all were hiding something. Their “friend” was missing and not one of them was working hard to help find him. It was clear that Art was the ringleader.

Melissa (melissasd) | 676 comments Art and Carlos did not feel any guilt or regret. Tom acted scared.
Oh, it was very obvious that Art was in charge. I had a feeling that he had threatened Tom.
