While the book concerns the Reformation, which affected all of Europe, it deals mainly with English history, as can be seen by the fact that, of the 23 characters mini-biographed, 15 have a direct relation with England, 5 with France, and only 3 with other countries. Would you add other characters? Would you eliminate some?

Fonch | 2482 comments I think that i gave some clues in my review. I think Big part of the Luther's labor was made by John Wycliffe, and Jan Hus an the Anabaptist. About the German languages This was employed by the German chancellaries. In my humble opinion surprises the absence of Luther, and Calvin. In the Catholic side Saint Ignatius (Ranke understood This idea really well, although as good protestant he supported to Luther), Charles V, Philip II even we Might include Eck, or Telzet, the archbishop of Mainz. The rest i would not eliminate anybody.
