HELP!: Do you have to read the Vampire Academy series before Bloodlines???

I am kind of confused. Are the Vampire Academy and Bloodlines series related? Do I have to read one before the other?

yes u do

I'd say read Vampire Academy before Bloodlines. You can read Bloodlines seperately, but there are references to the Vampire Academy series in it. So far I have only read the first book in the Bloodlines series, but there are already things in it that give away plotpoints of Vampire Academy. So, if you read Bloodlines first you will probably spoil yourself for parts of the Vampire Academy series.

Yes you need to read Vampire Academy first or bloodlines is not nearly as good. Bloodlines is the side series of Vampire Academy.

I think you would understand more of Bloodlines if you start with the Vampire Academy series because it has a bit more on things like spirit ;) Plus, you might enjoy it more. Bloodlines gets better and more interesting after the first book!

Yes you really should if you don't want spoilers for the Vampire Academy books.

Yes or you will totally not understand any of it. I shouldn't say that its just good to have the background information.

Personally I think you should read the Vampire Academy books first as important things happen that relate to the events in Bloodlines! I would definitely say that the Bloodlines series is a sequel to the Vampire Academy series and isn't a stand alone.

i read vampire academy series and i loved every single book. i thought the movie was really bad tho. anyway i like to read related series of books i read all the time i started bloodlines tho and found it really boring so i didnt even finish. in vampire academy i never got bored at all. if i find a book/movie boring from the beginning i never finish theres other books i wanna read so why wate time on one that bores u right? thats juss my opinion.

It would make a lot more sense if u read VA before BL. In VA it kind of carries into BL. So I would say yah read VA first. Sorry if that was confusing. BL= Bloodlines... VA= Vampire Academy...

Read Vampire Academy first, unless you don't mind spoilers.

Yes. Bloodlines is a spin off of VA

It's a spin off series to the Vampire Academy series, so I'd vote yes! You'll get a better reading experience that way :)

I definitely recommend reading Vampire Academy first. Part of Bloodlines charm is meeting some of the characters from the Vampire Academy series again. That being said, they are both two individual and brilliant series.

I think you should since it would make more sense if you did. Also, I am pretty certain that a lot of Vampire Academy characters will be in those books from what I have read in the summary blurb portion, but I don't who's coming back except Sydney and Adrian since I am still reading the VA series.

I wouldn't say you have to, but you'll be very confused if you don't.

Look they are related by if you have watched the movie you have already know the basic stuff!!!Now about some stuff that happens in the next book sydney the main character and narrator of the story explains everything in the memont you need to remeber something!!!

Now you can always read the whole book's plot in the wiki either the original of the vampire academy wiki it will take you 3 minutes for every book!!!

Nah you don't have to.
They are related, it's continued the story on but you won't be that confused with the story. I started reading Bloodlines before I read Vampire Academy, I didn't read Vampire Academy till after I read the 3rd or 4th Bloodlines book I cant remember which and I was only a tad confused/intrigued when Bloodlines would vaguely refer back to a certain character and a certain event that happened in Vampire Academy that is but isn't really that relevant to the Bloodlines story and left me asking a million questions and wanting to read Vampire Academy even more and find out exactly what had happened in that series.
I think it's clever that Richelle Mead did that as it made me want to buy and read the whole Vampire Academy series I'm sure there are a lot of other people out there that did as well. But, I would advise read Vampire Academy first it's such a good series, Bloodlines is still a good but I prefer Vampire Academy over Bloodlines.

Yes.
