This is the pick for those joining in the Amazin' Eights Challenge, but all are welcome! Please also feel free to check out and add to the author Q&A with KB Spangler!

Please put spoilery thoughts behind tags and mark the appropriate chapter so we can all follow along :)

A reminder that today's the official start date! Brooke (Spangler) has kindly marked the book down to $1.99 and if that's still not feasible for you now, has a deal for you over in the author Q&A!

yay!

Raygan Earl I finished it a few days ago, before I knew about this post. I think everyone is going to enjoy it.

I had to turn off my Inner Scientist, because of the way he scoffs at Agent Peng's "special senses". And I had a little concern about the throwaway introduction topic of "one hundred mysteriously dead Agents" and the way that people just seems to accept it.

But I' really enjoying the police procedural and anti-cyborg sentiments and Agent Peng's work environment. Yep, great so far, and lots of time to improve as I'm at 8% ((view spoiler).

Meredith | 1819 comments I started reading the other day and I'm enjoying it so far. I like the premise and the main character, particularly trying to imagine how she is "seeing" things.

Meredith, you should ask Brooke about how Rachel sees things!

Meredith | 1819 comments I looked in on the Q&A thread last week, but I was worried it would be spoilery, so I've been steering clear until I can finish the book.

I'm so glad that everyone seemed to at least enjoy it! When did you know Rachel was (view spoiler)? What did you think of the privacy elements?

message 13: by Kaa (new) - rated it 3 stars

Kaa | 1574 comments Yes, thanks for the Q&A! I didn't finish in time to participate, but it was definitely enlightening. Knowing that the basis of the tech/Rachel's abilities is intentionally supernatural definitely made them easier for me to accept, for instance. I was also tickled by K.B.'s reference to the show Leverage, as the new season just released in July included an episode heavily focused on digital privacy, and I was definitely thinking about that episode while reading this book.

Overall, I did enjoy the book, and I found the set-up very engaging, but I think for me the police procedural format was a detriment. First just because I find it increasingly difficult to enjoy media focused on the police, but also because it made the story feel a little formulaic despite how creative I thought other elements were.
