Was the character craving biscuits with strawberry jam, but he didn't know how to make biscuits and figured eating the Bisquick with the jam was the best he could do? That sounds right, but still doesn't bring back any memories that would be useful in finding the book.
Ayshe's suggestion looks very promising. A few quotes from "Telephone Man" - Athletic Shorts: Six Short Stories using Amazon's Look Inside:
"...anything except there was the Bisquick. Well, I knew that's what Mom made biscuits out of, and I figured, hey, even if they don't taste as good not cooked.."
"When I do get up in time and wake my mom up, I have biscuits and strawberry jam. A guy needs a good breakfast..."

Dean Koontz, Chris Crutcher, what's the difference. They both write about horrible things happening to innocent people, right?

What I can remember is this:
A male character is left alone in a house and for some reason eats Bisquick straight out of the box and something strawberry flavored. I think he might have been developmentally delayed, I don't think he was a child. I think he ends up getting sick from the two things he ate.
It would have to have been published before 2008 and it was definitely modern ( so not before 1970).
