An odd book and not really the typical fare for this author. The book is about a famous pianist who arrives to an unnamed city to perform in a concert he can't remember he agreed to perform. The pianist is suffering from partial memory loss. The book takes place in a three day time span.
Well, it started out interestingly enough and their were some redeeming qualities. The surreal, dreamlike landscape, however eventually got old. I had trouble connecting with the characters or caring what happened to them. Overall, 500 plus pages of relative boredom.
Got to agree with Diane here, it was a low 3 stars for me, for similar reasons. It was just okay overall, and after reading a masterpiece like "Remains of the Day" it was a bit more disappointing.
It did find the chaos of what happens at the climatic concert interesting though.
