I never got the impression that Alison ever believed she got it wrong. She was adamant that Curtis was not the killer or the one who assaulted Beverly. She had her eye on Tom Drury who fit her profile so closely. Alison had her own shadow investigation going.
I didn’t think she was out of line but it was risky, especially as it turned out. Going solo wasn’t wise if the killer was still at large but she was justified in continuing to probe.
