Vicki Willis | 871 comments That is so weird.
I have been waiting forever to hear if I got it or not.
Crossing my fingers.

Edited:
I got approved

That is weird. I think sometimes it just depends when they receive it. Like maybe if they see it, but they're doing something else it gets forgotten. I have had a few lately that have just at there indefinitely. I ended up withdrawing my requests for the ones that passed the pub dates, but still have a couple I've been waiting on for months.

message 903: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis | 871 comments Yes, I check that area too because I don't like a bunch of already published books just lingering there.
I like my shelves TIDY! lol

I was just approved for Dogged Pursuit (Andy Carpenter, #31) by David Rosenfelt Dogged Pursuit. I was also approved for Don't Let Him In by Lisa Jewell Don't Let Him In after waiting several months. I almost withdrew my request, but figured I'd give it a little longer. I'm so glad I waited.

message 906: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis | 871 comments I just got the new Lisa Jewel as well.

Marnie (marnie19) | 143 comments Other People's Houses by Clare Mackintosh is READ NOW right now.

I’ve been waiting for that one.

message 914: by Jessie (Saffity) (new)

Jessie (Saffity) (saffity) | 62 comments I've grown quite a backlog which I'm intending to catch up over the summer. Right now for my upcoming due that I will be working on once I finish my current book I have:

Threads of Empire A History of the World in Twelve Carpets by Dorothy Armstrong In the Veins of the Drowning (The Siren Mage, #1) by Kalie Cassidy How to Be a Saint An Extremely Weird and Mildly Sacrilegious History of The Catholic Church's Biggest Names by Kate Sidley Useless Etymology Offbeat Word Origins for Curious Minds by Jess Zafarris Violet Thistlewaite Is Not a Villain Anymore by Emily Krempholtz

My Backlog (a few of which were backlog when I grabbed them as read nows) which I will also pick away at is:

We Meet Again by Brownell Landrum How to Survive a Bear Attack A Memoir by Claire Cameron Reluctant Witch (A Course in Magic, #2) by Melissa Marr Murder by the Hook by Betty Hechtman The Rebel Romanov Julie of Saxe-Coburg, the Empress Russia Never Had by Helen Rappaport The Cavern by Kelly Keevins Queer & Christian Reclaiming the Bible, Our Faith, and Our Place at the Table by Brandan Robertson

The ones that aren't backlogged I'll probably start buddy read threads for in case anyone is reading it too.

We'll see if by September I can get these caught up a bit.

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 1524 comments Thanks Marnie! I literally checked for it the day before and it wasn't on NG yet! 😂

Jessie - If you're looking for buddy reads for any of them, post in the request a buddy thread here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... People look there to see what others want to read. Plus, I keep a running schedule of buddy reads so that people can join reads that are already planned. If you just post threads hoping someone will join people might not see them and they may not end up on the schedule.

Vicki Willis | 871 comments Also a Read Now
Alibis Collection
Six short stories by McFadden, Hepworth and 4 others.
For some reason here on GR they are listed as six separate books.

Jessie (Saffity) (saffity) | 62 comments Kristie wrote: "Jessie - If you're looking for buddy reads for any of them, post in the request a buddy thread here:"

Oh yes! I was just listing what books I have and mentioning I will in the future be making buddy read requests for them as I get up to them.

I didn't realize we have a future schedule though, I'll get my next couple posted and see if anyone wants to join :)

message 920: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 2898 comments Mod
Vicki - Goodreads has the books individually and as a collection. NetGalley has them separately too, at least as audios, for anyone who only want to read certain ones. Here's a link to the collection: Alibis

Thanks for letting us know they are read now. There are some good authors in that collection too.

message 921: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 2898 comments Mod
No hurry, Jessie. I just wanted to mention it. :) Yes, the schedule is here if you want to check it out: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... I think we have a couple new threads that I haven't added yet. I usually get to them pretty quickly, but it's been really busy around here lately.

message 922: by Elyse (new)

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 1524 comments Weird about the Alibis collection because those are usually Kindle Unlimited exclusives!!

Finally got an approval for The Forget-Me-Not Library by Heather Webber The Forget-Me-Not Library! I think I've been waiting on this one since January. I'm very happy about it though and it doesn't publish until November, so I have plenty of time.

Carl Reads (carlreadsbooks) Got two approvals: Vulture by Phoebe Greenwood and Angel Down by Daniel Kraus

message 928: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 2898 comments Mod
Does anyone follow Andrew Mayne's series? He has a newer series called The Specialists that pulls in characters from his previous series. The second book, Impostor Syndrome is currently read now.

Characters are from the following series:
The Naturalist
Trasker
Underwater Investigation Unit
Jessica Blackwood

This book seems to focus on Jessica Blackwood & Sloan McPherson (Underwater Investigation Unit).

I had that happen with a book recently, Kevin. So annoying when you request early and get approved late.

message 947: by Marnie (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 143 comments I was just approved for a book (got an email) showed up in my feedback ratio and everything but couldn’t find the book on my shelf. Sent a message to NetGalley and they said the publisher approved me in error since they archived it and that they were unable to remove it from my ratio. “An approval is an approval.”Now my number will forever be off. lol.

message 948: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 2898 comments Mod
That's awful, Marnie. So, it's not on your shelf at all? Do you have no review option? That shouldn't happen. Can you contact the publisher directly? Maybe they can still send you a widget.

message 949: by Marnie (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 143 comments I don’t even remember requesting it so it must have been a while ago. It’s from Harlequin who I won’t request anymore because they NEVER approve me. I’m laughing at myself for being so annoyed by this so I think I’ll leave it as is and consider it a lesson on “sometime stuff happens-deal with it.”

I’m imagining their conversation being “oh not her…abort the approval.” :)

message 950: by Marnie (new)
