I really need to start reviewing this month. lol At least I'm well rounded. 😂"

Oh, I got a widget. Didn't realize it wasn't posted to the general population yet. I'm sure it will be available to request at some point. It doesn't publish until August.

Thanks! I hope so too. I kept seeing good reviews for it, so I thought I'd give it a try. :)

Does anyone know how they decide who gets sent a given widget??

And then I looked and I have 10 pending!
The 2 new ones are

Vicki, I think I've mentioned this before, but I think we have very similar taste in books. lol I'm trying so hard not to request more, but I have a running list of books I want from NetGalley.
I just got Red Queen
. It's actually an older book, but I think it's the first release of the English translation. When I originally looked at it, it only had a few reviews, but there are over 30k now and it still has an average rating of 4.10.

and

and

I am really going backwards. I think I added 6 this month.

Great I made a thread! https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

A Small Sacrifice for an Enormous Happiness: Stories by Jai Chakrabarti - already read and reviewed.
The French Art of Living Well: Finding Joie de Vivre in the Everyday World by Cathy Yandell
Family Lore by Elizabeth Acevedo. I’ve loved all her previous books - hoping I’ll feel the same about this one.
Goodbye, Eastern Europe: An Almost Forgotten History by jacob mikanowski
Also added: Passport to Spy by Nancy Cole Silverman - not on GR yet, will have to add. It sounded interesting and It’s a Read Now one.
After reading here that widgets can actually disappear before the pub date, I accepted a couple that I had been waiting on -
&
. I'll likely accept
as well. I just want to be sure that I can get to it quickly first because it is an audio.

Most of my reviews for NG have been children's books because I am a kindergarten teacher. Can you create different Net Galley accounts? So I can have one for me books and one for work books? Is that why I have been denied books?

I am reading The Angel Maker now, Katrisa. I found it a bit confusing in the beginning as there were a lot of characters introduced and different time periods as well. I ended taking a few notes to make a bit of a cheat sheet to refer back to. Fortunately, I also have the physical book because it's much easier to go back to look things up in. I'm enjoying the audio now that I have the characters sorted out.
I don't think you can have multiple accounts because it is all linked together with your Kindle and email and such. Though, I'm not really sure. Reading children's books shouldn't disqualify you from receiving adult books. I do both ebooks and audio and have done most genres in adult books, YA, middle grade, and children's. I'veeven allowed my grandson to pick a book to read with me for when he visits.

Sometimes it helps to read a few "read now" books in genres you enjoy to get started. Also, be sure to set up your preferences on your NetGalley page to include both adult and children's genres.
Final tip, download everything to your Kindle (or other e-reader) as soon as you are approved so they don't disappear on you and be careful with the audios. The ebooks will stay on your device forever once downloaded, but audios will disappear from the NetGalley shelf even after they have been downloaded.

Thanks for the read now tip! I'll try that!

I have that one to read also."
Awesome! We're going to buddy read it in June! Here is the thread: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I own all 3 (just received Atalanta in the mail yesterday!) and haven't read any of them yet. lol

Love Across Borders: Passports, Papers, and Romance in a Divided World by Anna Lekas Miller
The Peacock and the Sparrow by I.S. Berry
The Oud Player of Cairo by Jasmin Attia
Loot: A novel by Tania James

Silvia Moreno-Garcia's new book. That was on my TBR since the beginning of the year.

I've still never read one of her books! Maybe this year.

Nice! I really liked

I just read a positive review for a new mystery-thriller series and decided to try it. I grabbed the first in the series, The Girls on Chalk Hill, from NetGalley. Anyone have this one?

I'm looking forward to both of these. I haven't been requesting many lately as I've been trying to keep my NG tbr on the smaller side so I don't feel overwhelmed.

I've been doing the same. I haven't been reading quite as much, so my NGs are falling behind. Plus, I'm feeling obligated to read them and not able to read other things, so less fun at the moment. Having less on my shelf just feels less stressful right now.

I was declined for that one.
I haven't been requesting very many. Trying to get through what I have and get my percentage up. Plus trying to make a dent in my physical TBR.

I got approved for So Shall You Reap by Donna Leon earlier this month. It’s the latest - the 32nd book in the Commissario Brunetti series set in Venice, Italy.
I’ve been reading the series since last year - not in order, which is not a problem. It’s my “new” fav mystery series and has ousted Louise Penny’s Armand Gamache series. Penny’s latest book was disappointing.
