Frank Feliz (frankfeliz) | 8 comments Does a slight pen name change still count as a new author? My old name is Frank Feliz, and my new one is F. Feliz. The Frank Feliz author page has three self-publications listed that are no longer available because I took them down. The F. Feliz author page hasn't been created yet, but there will be new books published by a publisher in the near future. I unclaimed the Frank Feliz page because I no longer use that name, so it's currently still unclaimed. Would both pages be merged once the F. Feliz page is created, or is that up to me? Or are they required to be separated and treated as different authors? I'd link to the old author page, but I'm not exactly requesting any edits or merges. I'm just asking for my own preparation. Thanks!

Emily | 17566 comments Are any of the books published under Frank going to be republished under F. Feliz?

Frank Feliz (frankfeliz) | 8 comments Only one of them was accepted by the aforementioned publisher and is being reworked in the form of book 1 in a new novel series, while the old version under Frank was just book 1 of a canceled novelette series (books 2 and 3 never got published and are being reworked under the new pen name). Same premise and characters but rewritten and much more added to the story. However, the old book 1 and new book 1 have the same title, just that the series title and book cover is different for each.

Example:
Frank Feliz - Squishy Crushy Something (Squishy Crushy Something, #1)
F. Feliz - Squishy Crushy Something (Happy Lucky Everything, #1)

Frank Feliz (frankfeliz) | 8 comments I edited my reply to Emily's question quite a bit for clarification. However, I have new questions if you don't mind.

1. Can I reclaim the existing old author page and just change the author name from Frank Feliz to F. Feliz to keep all the books in one author page despite the old books still being listed under Frank?

2. If "yes" to question 1, can I add the reworked version of the aforementioned book as a separate entry since it's under a publisher and not self-published like the old book? Same premise and characters but rewritten with much more added to it, going from a short story to a full novel. And same book title but different series title and cover.

Thanks!

Miriam | 1831 comments Answer to #1 is no

How long was the original story (word count and page count if you have it, approximate is good) and the same information for the new version?

Frank Feliz (frankfeliz) | 8 comments The original ebook I self-published under Frank Feliz was 13,684 words and about 35 pages (according to an online calculator). However, when it was on Amazon, it was listed as having 48 pages.

The publisher's reworked version under F. Feliz currently has 39,054 words, but I'm not sure how many pages that would equate to since it's not finished yet, and it could be longer after the editing/proofing is done. One calculator says 98 pages whereas another says 46. I should add that this version will also be available in print, unlike the original.

Miriam | 1831 comments It will be easier to determine for sure if the books can be kept separate once the final page/word count for the new version is available.

Based on original book being only a 1/3 the length of the rewritten version and one being a short story versus a novel length, they would be listed as separate entries. When they are closer in size we typically keep them linked together. Publisher versus self-published does not play a factor.

Frank Feliz (frankfeliz) | 8 comments Thanks so much for the answers to both questions. I really appreciate it. :)
