"I'll get straight to the point" he sighed, and then leaned forward as if to tell his biggest secret "kill my mother and your father for me" he whispered.
Jennifer was sure she heard everything wrong. No. No. This wasn't happening, this could not have been happening. A shiver went down her spine and she flinched. "WHAT," she asked, "do you mean?"
"Kill my mom and your father" he repeated. It took everything in her not to pull out her gun and shoot him in the face. "Ok, let's take this end bit by bit. Once your father is gone, you will lead the gang. Once both of my are gone, I will sit on the cathedral. Bu-"
"IF YOU'RE SO DESPERATE TO SIT ON THE DAMN THRONE WHY DON'T YOU JUST KILL YOUR PARENTS BY YOURSELF AND BE DONE WITH THIS" she shouted in one breath.
Jack laughed, "The legends were right, you really are something else."
"Listen to what will happen after we are both leading the gangs, there will be no more rivalry, no more surprise attacks, and no more blood feud between us. We control approximately eighty-three percent of this city combined. Eighty-three percent. If we were to unite without those oldies interrupting everything because of some ancient girlfriend stealing rivalry no one cares about.... we would be kings and queens." he said with such enthusiasm Jennifer almost believed him. Almost
"You still haven't answered my question about why you want me to kill your mom and my own damn father."

'Ha! This Jack guy sounds like he has a death wish', Jennifer thought. 'How dare he suggest something like that? Kill the one person who made my life livable?'
She still remember the day when she was 10. She ran away from her home and her abusive parents. She was all alone in the world with nothing to eat and nothing to protect her from the bitter cold at night. Her clothes got torn when she fell down and fainted after eating nothing for 2 consecutive days. But she had made up her mind. She would rather die than go back to her good for nothing parents.
It was the 4th day of her roaming around the city when she met him.
Though it was more like he met her. He had been watching her. She knew he had been.
Jennifer wasn’t fazed. She knew she looked odd and shriveled up, like she was one step away from death. It wasn’t strange for her to get looks from people around her, people who are probably expecting her to fall down and never get up again.
She had seen the worst these 4 days, so why would she care about a person watching her ?
She’s always ready to put up a fight if he has any evil intentions.
She remembered the moment when he approached her.
He came with a purpose and a proposal. The proposal which would be her turning point.
“I have been watching you “ he began.
Straight to the point with no intention of hiding anything.
“I know”
Jennifer’s eyes didn’t move away from him. She had a lot to learn but she could sense the power people hold within them.
And the man in front of her didn’t bother hiding that power.

"What do you want?" Jennifer, no Chloe asked. That was her name before she joined, before her father had adopted her. It didn't feel like her, that girl was gone, dead and so long forgotten.
"I know your father, he works for me, or rather used to work for her. He retired after an accident" he started. "I was at the hospital you know... when you were born"
"You were there when I was born?" she had asked, her eyes wide.
"Yes, my dear.... I've always liked you, I see a lot of potential in you and when trained correctly, you could do anything in the world"
Tears had filled her eyes, "I want to train, I want to be ..... something" At that moment, she just wanted to matter, be something and if that something meant being a monster she took it without any regrets.
He had taken her home, a big mansion that looked more like a palace to her at that time. She had liked her father instantly, for he did not tell her she was too young to matter, to say things, to be.....anything.
"What do I do here" she had asked.

"What do I do here" she had asked.
“what everyone does” he had said back then like if it was a common rule.
“ what…everyone does ?” She had asked knowing very well that it was a rule which had to be familiar with soon.
“ prepare for what’s gonna come”
One simple statement stating her purpose and her future.
And that was the beginning. Beginning of a life she never thought would become hers to live. A life of danger at every corner with dead bodies piling around her. A life filled with deaths in which she found her meaning.
She knew she couldn’t find this meaning anywhere else.
And now this person in front of her destroy everything she has build till now ?
That’s not something she could accept.

Some people took pity on her for being an assassin. But she liked it here, she had good food, shelter, and clothes. She rarely felt guilt anymore, lives didn't mean anything to her. Not her own, not her father's, not anyone's.
But that did not mean she would kill her own father, not because she loved him; she certainly did love him but hated him all the same for making her what she was. She needed a reason to kill, when her father made her kill people she killed because her father had told her to. It was a good enough reason for her. Now, she needed a reason all the same to kill him

who wants to start?"
you could :)

His hand reappeared with a folder. He slowly removed the content --- a piece of paper.
Take your time, Jennifer thought. Jack liked thinking that he was the one in control --- even when he wasn't. Papers were nothing to Jennifer.
Jack set the paper in front of her, right beside her cup of coffee, which she would not be drinking out of again. There were too many ways to poison someone without their noticing. Even though murder did not seem like Jack's top priority, she would not take chances. All this could be an act for her to slip up. To be careless. To take a drink.
Jennifer glared at him. He smiled without showing his teeth.
She scanned the paper quickly, unwilling to keep her eyes off enemies for too long of a time. The contract was typed onto thick cotton paper. A quick brush of her finger confirmed it.
The letters were evenly spaced and typed with gold ink.
Fancy, thought Jennifer, amused. Cotton paper or recycled paper. Gold ink or black. It did not matter to her. It was all flammable. All easily destroyed. And she was not one to have ink on paper bind her.

She folded up the paper and shoved it in her pocket. "Typical of you to ruin the mood. Just when I was feeling better." Jack only smiled. To others, it might look as one of sympathy, but Jennifer knew his smug look by heart.
After all, how wouldn't you know your own best friend's (or was) mind?

She blended in with the crowd, the way only an experienced assassin could. They contract pressed against her side.
Jack wasn't one to keep easily accessible documentation of a contract. Paper can fall into the wrong hands. What was the catch?
Something wet dripped onto her nose. It was getting dark. It started to drizzle. She should have noticed earlier. Jack's proposal must have shaken her more than she would have liked to admit.
Was she going to consider this? More importantly, was she going to agree?
Instinctively, she reached into her back pocket and drew out a plain white card with no inscription other than a phone number. Jack was the best pick-pocket she knew.
There was a pay phone nearby. She hesitated. She almost never hesitate. Not when the time came to plunge the knife in. Not when she pulled the trigger.
So she inserted a few quarters and pressed the numbers.
She pressed the receiver against her ear.
"Hello."
I know nothing about gangs and murderers. Continue the story plz!

"I'll do it" she spoke, before he could utter another of his no doubt infuriating comments. The ones that never failed to make her blood scream and sing for revenge.
And thats exactly what he wanted.
He strived to see her small but steady hands curl into tight fists He wanted to see her lose control. To lose all sense of time, place, and purpose, just as he did whenever she was around.

"Get your head out of the clouds Jennifer. This is no time to go down memory lane." She stomped and felt the water slosh and jump near her feet. Right. It was drizzling. I was tempted to go to Adrienne's. Her place smelled calming with some rain.
I went inside the nearest store and bought some food for us, and some flowers. Marigolds were her favorites. I started sipping on my smoothie and walked to her place. It wasn't all that far, and I had my umbrella in my bag. I blended back in with the crowd. I hoped Jake wasn't following me. I don't need him around, especially not where she was.
A few minutes later, I was right next to Adrienne, munching on a sandwich, the flowers placed neatly over her grave.

Jennifer used to come here every time she murdered, but then the murders started piling up, and she didn't have the time any more. Her father didn't like it when she showed sympathy, so she never told him about these visits.
"It's my father this time."
Jennifer didn't know whether to smile or to cry. She didn't know if she was supposed to feel some kind of guilt. So she just sat there, eating her sandwich.
I'm sorry, Adrienne, she thought. I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. I'm sorry I didn't tell you until it was too late.
Adrienne had been the innocent one. Completely unaware of her two best friends' sins. It was what killed her. She couldn't stand it when she knew they were keeping secrets, and the secrets she never suspected they ever kept? They killed her.
Jennifer finished off her sandwich, brushed the crumbs off her hands, and stood up. She couldn't linger there all day. She's got an assassination to commit, after all.
She briefly thought of the prize. Of Jack's promise. King and Queen. But Jack's Queen had long since died.
Jennifer grinned as she walked down the street. A little power and wealth to go with the job was never too bad. She didn't realize that she had let her guard down.

I'm gonna add on later."
(fork sorry :')
(I usually write in 1st person so it's default for me)

"Well, I just had a snack, but lunch would be nice..." "Done! I'll pay the bill and everything! Where would you like to eat?" He fiddled nervously with his tie. "Oh, how rude of me! I'm over here taking care of your lunch and you don't even know my name! It's Cassidy. Cassidy Romands. Nice to meet you Miss-" "Jennifer." He awkwardly shook her hand. Cassidy shot her a sheepish smile. Jennifer almost smiled back. Cassidy radiated shyness and sunshine, plus had a boyish quality to him. Plus, he was paying for her lunch.
"A simple burger place would be nice. Thank you." Jennifer may slaughter for a living, but she still had decent manners. Plus, of all the people she'd met, Cassidy reminded her of Adrienne...
"Adrienne! Stop! You're going too fast!" Adrienne only giggled and ran farther. Jennifer laughed and got tackled by Jake. "Rude!" "Adrienne is my catch!" He grinned at her and ran after Adrienne. Jennifer huffed and sped through the grassy hill. The flowers were marigolds. Oh, how she loved her best friend.
She shook her head, returning to reality. "I know just the place. Follow me please!" Off she went, to a burger restaurant with a complete stranger. Just another day in Jennifer's life.

The burger was filled with layers of beef, crisp salad and heaps of mayo - which was currently dripping out of her mouth, but she couldn't care less.
She had never taken the time to appreciate the more mundane things in life - a good burger, for instance. So long she'd spent burying memories of her past; her unnumbered body count still piling up over the years came nowhere close to how much she had neglected her present self.
Her companion, seated opposite from her across the greasy table, now observed her with mild curiosity as well as a red face - when he thought she wasn't looking, of course.
Jennifer wondered if she should interrupt his staring - she was starting to feel uncomfortable, and she had spent more than enough time here.
"Well, thanks" she said bluntly, looking into Cassidy's eyes for the first time. They were a pure powder blue, the colour associated with baby boys and clear skies and all things innocent...
Adrienne. Her eyes had been dark and narrow, but they had still possessed that same childlike wonder as the pair before her now.
If Adrienne had been here to see what she'd done. She'd admired her like a big sister, a heroine but she'd also known all her flaws and fears. Together they would take on the world, but instead the world had taken her away.
But Cassidy was also innocent. Did he even suspect there was something unsettling about her? Or was that just how she saw herself... tainted, bloodthirsty, cloaked in shadows?
"Um. You're um...welcome?" he stuttered, obviously not knowing what to say.
Jennifer had stood up now, scraping her chair back into place to make it clear that she was leaving.
"Jennifer" a harsh voice whispered urgently. Instinctively she whipped her head round, her hand at her waist - but there was no one behind her - only
Cassidy.
No. No. She hadn't told him her name - or had she let something slip? No they'd barely conversed. How -?
"Be careful"
Any sort of innocence she'd imagined was all gone. The baby blue eyes were steely, and his floppy blonde hair now resembled splintered brass
At that moment Jennifer did the only thing she could think of.
She ran.
(sorry this sort of comes off as filler but I thought I'd try

Jennifer never ran without a direction in mind, but she felt blind. She didn't know the whole story. She usually didn't need to, but this was her story. Her life. And she hated feeling exposed. She ran to a safe house. She had many, some of which her father knew of, and others only she knew about. This was one of hers. She should never had been so trusting. Never should have gone with Cassidy. Adrienne and Jack had brought back more memories than she could stand. They dug up old memories. She felt as if she was digging her own grave.
Don't be silly. You don't know he's a threat yet, she assured herself. But Jennifer knew better than be reassured in a situation like this. She had best lie low for a while. And then she'll complete her mission.
A smile creeped onto her lips as she thought of her reward. It wasn't just the city she was thinking of. It was also revenge.
You didn't think I would figure it out, did you, father? You didn't think I would know. You thought you knew me better than anyone. You thought you were the only person I trusted. Well, you're wrong. 'Cause I don't trust anyone anymore.
And when this is all over, I'll make you pay.
LEMME CONTINUE TMR
WHY WOULD I GIVE UP
