Monty Python's life of Brian is a 1979 comedy from the same group behind Monty Python's flying circus. Its the 2nd film from the comedy group coming right after Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The film is about a young Jewish man that happened to be born in the same day and right next door to Jesus Christ. Brian just happened to live in the same city and time as Jesus but has no connection with the messiah at all until Brian gets mistaken as Jesus by his followers. The film caused some controversy due to it's religious themes and satire and was accused of blasphemy.
This film finds the perfect way to find humor in the new testament without being too edgy about it. the idea of a film about a man that just happened to be alive at the same time as Jesus is hilarious and perfectly executed especially in the opening scene of the three wise men walking into the wrong house on accident. The film still has the classic Monty python humor with it's satire and overly exaggerated silliness. The goofiness can really memorable like in the Biggus Dickus scene or the fact that the scenes of women acting like men are actually played by men. The satire is also hilarious and creatively used especially in the ending song.
I rate this film a 4 star as it's hilarious and very creatively uses satire in an extremely memorable way.
