I finished And What Can We Offer You Tonight yesterday--an atmospheric, strange little novella that will be out next week from one of my favorite small presses. There's a mystery threaded throughout, but ultimately the story is about other things. Can't wait for Velvet Was the Night!
So many interesting books on this Week 3 list. How do I choose? The APL Mystery book Group read The Thursday Murder Club a few months ago. I really liked it! The main characters were a group of retired people that were funny and interesting and not at all cute, the way older people are often portrayed in books.
I finished:Tomorrow Will be Different by Sarah McBride
The Hidden Staircase (Nancy Drew) by Carolyn Keene
Subtle Acts of Exclusion by Michael Baran and Tiffany Jana
Just finished Love Lettering By Kate Clayborn. Well-written romance about someone obsessed with lettering and fonts and hidden messages. Fun and sweet with a "Darcy" romantic interest.
This week I finished reading 4 books: Ishmael by Daniel Quinn, Wolves of the Calla by Stephen King, Night Shift by Stephen King and Cold Fusion by Dr. & Mr. Haggis-on-Whey.
So far I’ve finished The Girl with the Louding Voice by Abi Daré and The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh.
Logged all of the books above!@Valerie (valtherizzle), you are at 10 books read! Congratulations! Please visit your local library branch to collect your APL Tote Bag!
I finished four books so far: Call Me By Your Name (Andre Aciman), The Proposal (Jasmine Guillermo), The Right Swipe (and Girl Gone Viral (both Alisha Rai).
I’m almost finished with In This Grave Hour by Jacqueline Winspear. I’ve been listening to it in the car and love the narration by Orlagh Cassidy. She’s go every accent of Great Britain mastered! I finished Ghosts by Dolly Alderton. It was an outstanding debut novel. The ghosts are men who disappear from women’s lives after declaring their love, but also the many other ghosts in our lives. Parents with dementia, childhood pleasures and old neighborhoods etc... I stayed up all night one night this week to finish it.

Abi wrote: "Finished Children of Blood and Bone, just in time for the meeting on Monday 😊"I just finished Children of Blood and Bone this morning! :)
Hello everyone! I joined the challenge a little later through READsquared but wanted to share the books I read on here with all of you and to see what everyone else is reading. I have finished All Boys Aren't Blue, Siblings Without Rivalry: How to Help Your Children Live Together So You Can Live Too, The Searcher and Starfish. I am going to be starting A Rogue of One's Own!
I read The Mystery of Mrs. Christie by Marie Benedict. That was great book. Wonderful story with lots of surprises. It is particularly good if you are a Doctor Who fan and saw the episode that dealt with her disappearance. I started Braiding Sweetgrass this week but I have not yet finished it.
For week 3 I read Changes in the Land: Indians, Colonists, and the Ecology of New England by William Cronon.
Abi wrote: "Whoops, just realized I accidentally logged Children of Blood & Bone twice, sorry!"No worries Abi!
I completed Finding Freedom: A Cook's Story; Remaking a Life from Scratchby Erin French. It is a moving and vulnerable portrayal of a woman who rebuilt her life from thin air. She has overcome a lot and her honesty was just so searing and effective. I look forward to sending my postcard to snag a seat at the Lost Kitchen in Freedom, Maine.
@ED, I logged your book! I had no idea about the Lost Kitchen until I watched it this last year. Very cool idea! I'll have to check out this book.
