Oh my gosh, yes. It's funny, though. My eye passed over this one many times and for some mysterious reason, I kept dismissing it as a possibility. Thanks!
The hero's wife cheated on him and she died falling from a horse on her way to meet her lover.
The heroine is the friend of his younger sister who has loved him from when she was a child and he a young man.
He has determined that his wife (who was pregnant with her lover's child) has damaged him being repair and thinks he is incapable of falling in love again.
In the middle of the book, they are at a dinner and there is a scavenger hunt and they are paired off (they originally had different partners, but his sister convinced the original two pairs to switch). A storm comes upon them and they are stuck and find refuge somewhere. They have sex, then part ways, with the other guests none the wiser. She ends up pregnant, but goes to a family member who lives in Scotland instead of seneking him out to tell him.
There is a sequel featuring the hero's sister.
This is absolutely driving me nuts, especial since it hasn't been too long since I read it.
