Changing Author Page

Hello there!

I have a Goodreads author page with a profile name Willowy Whisper. I have several books that are under my author page also under the pen name Willowy Whisper.

However, I would like to keep my same account and profile, but update my name from Willowy Whisper to Hannah Linder. However, I do not wish for my books to stay on that page any longer, and I also wish for them to stay under the pen name instead of my real name.

So in conclusion, can I remove the Willowy Whisper books from my current author page > update my current author page to Hannah Linder > create a new account for Willowy Whisper > claim those Willowy Whisper books under my new author account > and have both accounts separate?

Thank you so much in advance for your help! I’ve worked many years to build up my account and also moderate a very large Goodreads group, so I’m trying to be very careful how I proceed so I don’t make any mistakes.

Hannah,

You are going to need to contact staff (see link below). They should be able to disconnect your user account from the Willowy Whisper author page and connect it to the Hannah Linder page. Then you can reclaim the Willowy Whisper page under a new email address (you'll need a second GR user account).

If your books were only ever published under Willowy Whisper, then they will remain on that profile. If they get republished under the Hannah Linder name, then they will need Willowy Whisper as the primary author and Hannah Linder as a secondary author name. If the Hannah Linder books are new, never published under Willowy Whisper, then they would only be on your Hannah Linder account.

Do you have any books listed on Goodreads with the Hannah Linder name? I found an author account, but wasn't sure if it was you. You'll need to get that author page set up before you contact staff. Let us know if you need help getting your new books on Goodreads.

Thank you so much, Miriam! I just contacted Goodreads help.

I actually don’t have any books under Hannah Linder yet, so will that create a problem? Also, what would happen if I just updated my author page name? Would the books update to Hannah Linder as well? Or would they stay Willowy Whisper? Is there a way for me to just remove the Willowy books from my page entirely?

Hannah, you'll need to contact support, not help. Help is a user forum, support is staff.

So, the books can't be removed off that page entirely. You can have Hannah Linder added to any books published under the pen name as secondary.

So those books will permanently appear on that author page? Is there any way I can delete those books from Goodreads entirely?

I know all my questions are confusing. I’m trying to part ways with my pen name, thus all the confusion. Thank you in advance for your help!
