As a non-fiction work this gets one thread. Discuss anything.

Clyde (wishamc) In this book Ward-Perkins makes a strong, and IMHO definitive, case that the fall of Rome was anything but a "peaceful transformation".
If you think high-quality goods, food, and shelter, which all suffered serious degradation after the fall of Rome, are good indicators of "civilization", then it was indeed the end of civilization as it had been known in Western Europe.
This book is very well written and well researched using the latest archeological evidence. Solid five star book for me.

Okay, I drank the Kool-Aid. Rebuttals?
