Karin This is on top of the 52 prompts.

I read China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan which is largely set in south east Asia, where I have never been (set in China, Singapore...)

Carol (cquan01) | 589 comments I read Sparks Like Stars by Nadia Hashimi that is set in Afghanistan. I used it to fulfill the deckled edge prompt too.

Just finished reading: "When My Name Was Keoko" written by Linda Sue Park (★★★★☆) and is set in Korea during the Second World War when Japan conquered Korea and was trying to destroy Korean culture and told from the perspectives of two Korean siblings, Tae-Yul and Sun-hee.

Park's duo narrative – in alternating voices, who offers complementary and sometimes different version of the same event. It is a powerful and riveting tale of one close-knit, proud Korean family movingly addresses life-and-death issues of courage and collaboration, injustice, and death-defying determination in the face of totalitarian oppression.

Danielle | 2 comments I read There You'll Find me by Jenny B Jones. A young college girl goes to Ireland after her brother tragically dies. She goes to Ireland to finish writing a song on her violin and needed inspiration and tried to find it the last place her brother had been. I've never been to Ireland, but I would love to go there one day.

Michele | 5 comments I read Silver Bay by JoJo Moynes. The setting is in Australia, a country I have always wanted to visit. The book is a slow read but good. It is about a family of women of multiple generations dealing with relationships, trying to make a living, protecting the family and the family business. I gave it a 4⭐️. If you’re still looking for a book to fill the environment prompt, this would work as they are trying to save the whales and dolphins in the bay from potential development.
