July 2021 - An Author Who Uses Initials (2019 Throwback)

Just finished reading: "The Time Machine" written by H.G. Wells, edited by Patrick Parrinder with notes by Steven McLean and an introduction by Marina Warner (★★★★☆) it is a classical science fiction dystopia, which centers on an unnamed Victorian inventor who created the first time machine.
Wells' uses the frame narrative technique to tell the tale and rarely name any secondary characters and just describe them by features or their occupation. Thematically, it is a commentary of the increasing inequality and class hatred during the Victorian era. However, it hasn’t aged that well as the language used was quite dated.
I read The Children of Húrin by J.R.R. Tolkien, 2 Stars. I love The Hobbit, or There and Back Again, but I did not enjoy this.
