Seems that I’m in the minority but I’m not so keen about the Disney-prompt mainly because I haven’t watched a lot of Disney-movies. I have not even watched Frozen although my kids love it and we have a lot of merchandise products here :) anyway, I won’t downvote. Everybody seems to love it and I’m sure, I’ll find something to fit.
This is such a good list! I'm going to have difficulty narrowing it down to only eight prompts.
A book by an indigenous author + A book in translation - I don't read enough translated or Indigenous/Native/Aboriginal fiction so I'll appreciate the push next year.
A book related to the title of a song from an animated Disney or Pixar movie - This just sounds like a lot of fun! I want to do the quiz too though, so I have a specific song to base it off (if it gets through).
A title includes the word "Around" or "Year" - I have a few titles from my TBR to work with so I don't mind this one at all, and it's a fun play on the usual a, t, y related prompts.
A book without the words "a", "an" or "the" in the title - I found over 400 books on my extensive tbr to choose from! I'm definitely voting for this one. I can't wait to scour the list and find something. You can see my shelf here if you need ideas: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list....
A book with a competition as a main plot element - I love the deadly game/magical tournament trope! Some of my favourites are Spin the Dawn, A Song of Wraiths and Ruin, A Crown of Wishes, Crownchasers and The Inheritance Games. I have a shelf of over 40 titles here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list... if anyone needs ideas.
A book related to the phrase “Birds Eye View” - I have so many tbr choices with birds on the cover, which is a great KIS option. Also a few books with 'eye', 'view', 'bird' or a specific type of bird in the title so I'm definitely voting for this. Love a prompt that can be KIS/BIOed easily. If you need suggestions, I have a shelf of over 100+ titles here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
A book with a language or nationality in the title - I was originally going to vote for this but I actually don't have any titles on my tbr that would fit. Looks like a lot of classics, nonfiction, literary fiction or cozy/indie mysteries, which aren't my personal jam.
A book connected to the phrase "Here (There) Be Dragons" - I love dragon books and books about cartographers or pirates. Most of my physical sff tbr has a map included, so that's a good KIS option too.
A book related to glass - This immediately reminded me that I have Maria V. Snyder's Glass series on my tbr!
A non-fiction book without a subtitle, Read a book related to The Twilight Zone, A book you haven't read because it is or was overhyped and A book where the page count of any edition is a multiple of 22 - None of these are personally calling to me, sorry, but they're all solid prompts.
A book by an indigenous author + A book in translation - I don't read enough translated or Indigenous/Native/Aboriginal fiction so I'll appreciate the push next year.

My Disney quiz gave me Just Around the Riverbend so I could read a book by/about indigenous people, or about rivers, or with rivers in the title or cover, or about travel, or hopefulness. I am really happy about the quiz, otherwise I would have downvoted this suggestion because it's way too broad for me. Narrowing it down to one song for me really makes it appealing.
If the Disney prompt wins, that could be a suggestion for BIO - to use the quiz to limit it to that song.

Same here - I have a bunch of her books on my TBR, but they're all so long!
Also I'm reading NK Jemisin's The City We Became and in the front there is a map with the words "Here There Be Dragons" written on it, and the phrase came up in a chapter I read last night. Seems like a sign I should vote for it!

I admit I did vote yours down. It's just that there are literally no books I didn't read becuase of the hype. Plenty of books of I didn't read despite the hype though

My downvotes were 'page numbers,' 'Around or Year,' 'a, an or the', and 'overhyped.'
I'm getting excited for '22!

Thank you Kelly for this info! I just bought The City We Became at Savers and had not even opened it yet. But, I will save it for 2022 if the Dragon prompt gets through!

Thanks Raquel for the list! When I fist saw Disney songs, all I could think of was "Let it Go" and that I didn't want to research Disney songs. However, I found 23 songs with great potential! It's almost too easy but... I say that now! Come next year I will appreciate prompts that aren't too limiting. I will def vote for this one but plan to stick with my list of 23 songs and maybe even limit it to fewer!

Per Jackie in message 1: “ Voting will open in the morning of Saturday July 3rd and results will be posted in the morning of Tuesday July 6th.” So, you should get your vote in by the evening of the 5th, just to be on the safe side. I think the mods are all in the US, so EST, CST, or similar would be the time zone to work with.

Sorry, I was just updating my post to address that question, as well.

Thanks, Nicole. :)
Yes, generally you just want to get your vote in before the date that we post results. The voting will remain open until the morning (US time zones) off the results date posted.

No "an, "a" or the ( I suggested it)
Disney song ( closest to a freebie without actually being one and right now I want flexibility)
Here Be Dragons and twilight Zone (seem awesome)
Downvoted
because of the hype ( no offence but i have literally no books in the wrold that fit it)
Around or year ( just ddin't grab me)
Indignous (just too narrow for me to vote for it yet)
Non fiction no subtitle ( finding it a nightmare to fill)
I still think all 15 suggestions were great ideas in their own way. Thanks to eevryone who thoguht of them)

Page number that is a multiple of 22. If the cahllange makes me look at the page numbers AND then do math.... plus I read a lot of ebooks and I can change the 'page number' just by changing the zoom which makes 'real' number meaningless.
My Upvotes:
Here Be Dragons I've read a bunch of pirate related books this year for some reason, plus I love fantasy so one way or another I'll have a book for this.
Bird's Eye View Another prompt that just inspires me although I have no clue how I'm going to fill it.
A non-fiction book without a subtitle I read a lot of nonfiction, but most have subtitles. This will be harder, but doable.
A book related to glass The idea of finding a book that epitomizes the idea of 'glass' gives me joy. (I'm weird, I know😉)
A book with an orange cover I suggested it, I figure I should vote for it.
A book by an indigenous author I don't really do reading for Black History Month, Pride or any of the others, but I usually try to read some indigenous books during Sept.
A book with a language or nationality in the title This was a close call for me. I was either voting for this one or the no A, AN or THE, but this seemed just a bit more difficult so it got my vote in the end.

I only downvote prompts I really don't want. If I might vote for it at a later date, or I'm not feeling it right now but could change my mind, I just don't vote for it at all. I don't want something to end up in the bottom, which means it can't be suggested again, unless I really don't want it as a prompt ever.

My downvotes were the page count one because I can already foresee myself getting annoyed if my version doesn't have the "right" number, even though it says any edition. I also downvoted Birds Eye View because I liked the cover-only version much better, and Dragons because that's the one that would be hardest for me the fulfill.

I competely frogot about the bottom rule. Okay that was a msitake but i stand by my other chocies> Ireally don't want a prompt i lireally cannot do.

This time 6 upvotes
Disney song - so fun
Around or Year in title - a quick look at my TBR didn’t turn up any book for this one but I like the continuity of working our group name into the challenge
No a/an/the in title - lots of choices in my TBR
Nonfiction no subtitle - will be a little tough but I love reading nonfiction
Twilight Zone - creative suggestion
Here Be Dargons - already have my book picked for this one

I'm excited about so many of these.
Bird's Eye View - this one excites me the most.
- I like that this could work with fiction or non-fiction. It's linked to a few concepts that I'd like to read more about how - Nature, environmental change and the ability to see the big picture. Also Birds, bees, airplanes, the joy of flying, skyscrapers, beautiful views, Satellites (spy stories) , Space (sci-fi)
I loved: Migrations,
This Is How You Lose the Time War (Cover)
So far I found:
The Overstory,
The Feather Thief
The Wild Trees: A Story of Passion and Daring, Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed, The Beak of the Finch: A Story of Evolution in Our Time,
The History of Bees,
When Women Were Birds: Fifty-four Variations on Voice,
The Long Flight Home
Hello, Is This Planet Earth?: My View from the International Space Station
We Are Satellites
I'll have to look back for more examples of what books people might use for Dragons, Twilight Zone, Competitions, and Disney songs
I'm least interested in

That's how I feel about a book about glass. I like the sound of it, even though I can't think of any books that fit.

I hope people resubmit the prompts that don't make it this time.

Just came in from a long week of traveling, so I'm finally getting to sit down and look at our options for this poll! Definitely some creativity here!
I have 4 up and 1 down at first glance... I'm voting for indigenous author (Firekeeper's Daughter made me want to read more!), Disney/Pixar song (because I love those movies... I'd probably pick one song after seeing what the rest of the list looks like and stick to that one), nonfiction book without a subtitle (because I read a lot of nonfiction and I also hate subtitles lol), and Here Be the Dragons (because it seems like a fun scavenger hunt and will lend itself to a good YA fantasy series.
Not sure what I'll do with my other three votes... probably downvote a couple.

2. A book related to the title of a song from an animated Disney or Pixar movie (I love song based prompts).
4. A book without the words "a", "an" or "the" in the title
(I'd like to go with a one word title so this works perfect)
5. A non-fiction book without a subtitle
(Not my favorite non-fiction prompt but non-fiction prompts tends to have a hard time making it so I went ahead and upvoted this one).
8. A book related to the phrase “Birds Eye View”
(I think this would make a fun cover prompt).
9. A book with a language or nationality in the title
(Sounds like an interesting scavenger hunt type prompt).
12. Read a book related to The Twilight Zone, in honor of the classic second season episode, "Twenty Two"
(I had one extra vote and went ahead and upvoted this due to Irene's promotion of the prompt).
13. A book connected to the phrase "Here (There) Be Dragons
(Who doesn't love dragons?)
14. A book related to glass
(My favorite prompt of the group and I have no idea why).

I hope people resubmit the prompts that don't make it this time."
I hope so too! While I did downvote some prompts for selfish reasons (don't have books that fit, or found them too broad), there are literally no prompts that I dislike in this poll. It makes me really excited to see what people will suggest next.

Same! I feel like there are going to be very few or no bottom prompts this time.

I also upvoted the Disney song prompt (can't wait to go hunting for options!), translation (anything to promote my own profession^^), and Twilight Zone, but downvoted the nonfiction prompt: I don't read a lot of nonfiction as it is, so I really don't need a prompt that makes it even harder to find a good match.

I downvoted two, the prompt with overhyped books because I find it hard to actually put a book towards this one and the other one is a book in translation. For med this would be a bit of a free prompt since half of the books I read is translated and then not only from English.

Thanks for this. I was going to downvote this prompt but won't know I've seen this list.

I upvoted a nonfiction book without a subtitle. I listen to audio books for nonfiction so anywhere I can throw one of my audio books into my plan I jump at the chance.
I also picked a book with an orange cover. I thought that was fun and there are several that would work and if not I could find more.
The other one I upvoted was a book about glass. I seem to have some books with windows on the cover that would work and I thought it was fun.
I did downvote a title with around or year in it. I don't have much to pick from at all for that one. But if it gets in then I'd just read Around the World in 80 Days.
I downvoted the overhyped one. I just figured there was a reason that I wasn't reading it but if it gets in I have a good idea what I'd read.
I downvoted here there by dragons, mostly because I just read Eragon and hated it. It was probably a bad time for me to vote on dragons.
The other one I downvoted that I wish I hadn't was the competition one. I thought of a bunch afterwards that I could have read.
But as usual I can find a book to read for any prompt so whatever gets in is fine with me.

I upvoted eight prompts, cause I down use downvotes unless I have no interest what so ever in a prompt - two I'm hoping make it through are A book connected to the phrase "Here (There) Be Dragons" and A book related to the title of a song from an animated Disney or Pixar movie! Dragons and Disney are two think I love, and I definitely think it could be fun to find books to fit these prompts.

I like the idea of using something like a "what Disney song are you" quiz to narrow the prompt down even more for yourself! That prompt is one of my for sure upvotes, I think, along with Here Be Dragons, bird's eye view (I have a bizarrely large number of books with birds on the cover on my tbr, lol), and language/nationality. Also into related to glass and the around/year prompts, but I might save a downvote for overhyped because I truly don't know what I'd use for that. To the best of my recollection, I've never avoided a book because it was getting a lot of marketing or praise, so I'd be pretty stymied as to what to use here. There are a couple other prompts that I'd be fine with finding books for if they get in, but aren't necessarily my cup of tea (e.g., nonfiction without a subtitle - I read a lot of poetry, which is usually nf and usually subtitle-less, so it won't be hard for me to fill, but because it's so straightforward, it's just a bit less fun for the way I happen to like to use prompts lists as treasure hunts through my bookshelves and TBR lists).
