I'm not sure if this has been read yet, but may I suggest The Watchers: A Secret History of the Reign of Elizabeth I, an award-winning book which by all accounts is fascinating. Also, as it covers the Tudor period (and obviously has an impact on it), Catherine Fletcher's new book The Beauty and the Terror: An Alternative History of the Italian Renaissance - another stunning, highly readable book written by an expert in the field.
I'd love to nominate Jane the Quene, the first book in my Seymour Saga trilogy - or The Boy King, the third in the series (though it leaves me feeling guilty for skipping over The Path to Somerset, even though it just won the Chaucer Award!)
I'm going to nominate two books from last month's poll: After Elizabeth: The Rise of James of Scotland and the Struggle for the Throne of England
and
The Eyes of the Queen.
I will nominate In Search of a Kingdom: Francis Drake, Elizabeth I, and the Perilous Birth of the British Empire by Laurence Bergreen. And with that I close nominations.
The poll is now open. You'll find it at the top of the group's Polls page, the bottom of its Home page, or here: https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/2... .

If it's in a series, can it be easily read as a stand-alone? If not, you might want to nominate the first book in the series, or the most recent book in it the group has not read together.
Can't remember what we've already read as a group? (Sometimes I can't, either.) There's a "group-reads" shelf on the group's Bookshelf.
Two nominations to a person, please.
