Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2165 comments What book about the Tudors or Tudor England would you like to have as our Group Read in August 2021?

If it's in a series, can it be easily read as a stand-alone? If not, you might want to nominate the first book in the series, or the most recent book in it the group has not read together.

Can't remember what we've already read as a group? (Sometimes I can't, either.) There's a "group-reads" shelf on the group's Bookshelf.

Two nominations to a person, please.

William Whalen | 68 comments Sorry, I put in the second book in the series. It should be Giordano Bruno and the Embassy Affair by John Bossy not Under the Molehill An Elizabethan Spy Story by John Bossy .

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2165 comments Thanks for catching that, William!

Debbie | 4 comments I'm not sure if this has been read yet, but may I suggest The Watchers: A Secret History of the Reign of Elizabeth I, an award-winning book which by all accounts is fascinating. Also, as it covers the Tudor period (and obviously has an impact on it), Catherine Fletcher's new book The Beauty and the Terror: An Alternative History of the Italian Renaissance - another stunning, highly readable book written by an expert in the field.

Janet Wertman | 20 comments I'd love to nominate Jane the Quene, the first book in my Seymour Saga trilogy - or The Boy King, the third in the series (though it leaves me feeling guilty for skipping over The Path to Somerset, even though it just won the Chaucer Award!)

Christine Hartweg | 48 comments I'd like to nominate Charles Brandon Henry VIII's Closest Friend by Steven Gunn and The Spanish Armada by Robert Hutchinson

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2165 comments If anyone has a last minute nomination to make, now would probably be a good time.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2165 comments The poll is now open. You'll find it at the top of the group's Polls page, the bottom of its Home page, or here: https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/2... .
