I am doing a summer grad school thing right now, so I will be participating but probably minimally (and slowly.)
I am going to skip this book. I tried to read it years ago and it just wasn’t for me. Some Koontz books I like, and some I just can't get into. This is a purely personal opinion, so don’t let it deter anyone from reading this book.
Man, I’m trying to remember when I have cared less about a group of characters. So far I’m a little 😴.
So I am pretty fried by evening right now, and this is something I can engage with without engaging if that makes sense. So, it's kind of the perfect grad school book, although I wouldn't actually call it good.
Koontz is hit or miss with me. I wish he wrote less, but better.

So glad the book is working for you, Adelaide! Sometimes a book isn't written well but it just clicks for me at the time. I think Koontz' books can be like that.
I CANNOT GO ON. With the book. I am 1/4 of the way in and it is just unnecessarily icky. I am brain dead because of grad school and there is nothing here for me to latch on to.
SORRY FOR THE BAD PICK Y'ALL. ratings can be dirty liars.

Don’t worry about it, Adelaide. It was worth trying something new. Koontz can be good or bad, and I never know if I’m going to like one of his books when I pick it up.
Have read, when I picked it up for this group got a few pages in and remembered, did find it not to my liking. One of a few authors I still read for "my horror" fix but I passed on this. Kings' latest "Later" was a good relief from his fumbles of late. Koontz last book I read "The Good Guy" was just a simple tale involving a limit amount of characters...and it works! Lightning just keeps adding more and more and it became to cluttered. Later.
John,Thanks for the info about The Good Guy. Some Koontz books I like, some I don't. Your recommendation looks worth a try.
