I only read one of her's, an anthology, which was not a fav.
the rest I enjoyed.

It seems to ring a bell but nothing is coming to me.

I just read a collection of stories by Anne Bishop - the last story in the book was about a collection of long-lived people travelling through space and seeding life on planets. Their ship was about to die. She deserves every award she ever got.

I found it. An Unlikely Master Genius by Carla Kelly. It's book 1 of a trilogy.
