I liked your review. Yikes. That's a lot of bad blood between the two families.

Carol | 2793 comments Watched Judy Bloom Forever on Amazon Prime. Excellent! I did not realized her books were banned when Reagan was president. I volunteered in our school library then and they were the hottest books. Not banned.

The Bookseller of Inverness It's by the author of the Damian Seeker series. It has been on sale for 99 cents for a week or so. Hope it still is. I liked it.

message 2207: by Roberta2 (new)

Roberta2 | 2383 comments Thanks, OLT. Just got it for 99 cents!

message 2208: by Roberta2 (new)

Roberta2 | 2383 comments For some reason, I thought that author had died. I think I'm confusing the Damian Seeker series with another series.

Roberta2 | 2383 comments Oh, I know what it was. I was thinking of Ann Swinfen. The H was a bookseller.

OLT | 2480 comments Roberta2, I'm going to give you a list of authors of historical mysteries that I have been trying out lately. Some are better than others but I've found all to be relatively interesting for the history involved. Time period for the books ranges from 1300s to the 1600s for the most part. I have only read the books of each series that are offered for bargain prices.

A. D. Swanston, Christopher Radcliffe series.
Andrew Swanston, the Thomas Hill mysteries.

Alys Clare, the Gabriel Taverner mysteries

E.M. Powell, the Stanton and Barling mysteries

D.V. Bishop, the Cesare Aldo mysteries

Kate Sedley, the Roger the Chapman mysteries

S.W. Perry, the Jackdaw Mysteries

Here is a review of the lastest HR I have read, A Rogue’s Rules for Seduction https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
A Rogue's Rules for Seduction (Last Chance Scoundrels, #3) by Eva Leigh

A Rip Through Time by Kelley Armstrong is a very good Victorian mystery.

I don't read as much as I would like - during lunch at work and when I sit in my car after I get home. There isn't a comfortable seat in this house.

Danker | 1030 comments Please accept my apology if this title has already been recommended. I need to trawl back through posts I have missed and I will do that over the weekend.
In the meantime, I just finished No Life for a Lady. Finally, a successor to Joan Smith at her best.
In enjoyed it immensely. Had some great laughs. And it only cost me $AUS 1.95, so it should be less if using US dollars

I got 3 months free when a bought a new Kindle Fire. I 'll renew KU in the future for a month when there's a bunch of books I want to read. I'm using my library extensively. And I have tons of TBR's on my account, so I really don't need KU right now.

HappyBookWorm2020 | 4294 comments Sticking my head in to say hello. I survived Monday. How was your day?

message 2223: by Danker (new)

Danker | 1030 comments Hello back again. Tuesday here and it’s close to 5.30 pm. I can already see a pale moon in the clear, but weakening, silvery sky. Winter has come early in Australia. Cold. Wet. Grey. Well, today was sunny, but the temperatures were still chilly. The days are shorter. Good weather for sitting before a log fire and reading…. if only! Trying not to read any news from the US, or Sudan, or Ukraine, or Afghanistan. Trying to ignore the numskulls (even here) going ga-ga over the English Con-a-nation. Cooking up a storm instead. Any good new releases?

🐝 Shaz 🐝 | 319 comments Hi everyone. Hope you are all well.

Sunny day here. Rained all day yesterday.
King’s Coronation long weekend over now.
Been to W Australia in April. Weather was as nice as our summer days in Uk.

message 2225: by Roberta2 (new)

Roberta2 | 2383 comments This is our third beautiful spring day in a row. Can't get enough of the sunshine. It felt as if it rained all of April and the 1st week of May. Heading to a wedding in Ohio this weekend.

message 2226: by OLT (new)

OLT | 2480 comments New release I found that's inexpensive and not half bad. I've read a few chapters and find the writing pleasing. The Runaway Bride The author is Felicity York, English (I think from Lancaster but don't quote me) and this is the first in a Stately Scandals historical series. All the books to be based on an actual scandal of the times.

message 2227: by OLT (new)

OLT | 2480 comments Danker, thanks for the No Life for a Lady recommendation. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Lovely humor in it, a bit of a mystery, and an understated romance that filled the bill.

OLT | 2480 comments I'm pretty sure we are all familiar with C.S. Harris and her Sebastian St. Cyr Regency mysteries. Anybody interested in the U.S. Civil War? I just discovered Good Time Coming on Amazon for $2.99. Product page says the book was first published in 2016, but I suspect it was sitting around in a drawer of her house for years and she took it out and polished it a bit for publication. Anyway, I have downloaded it but not read it yet, so I can't know enough to recommend it.

This two book collection has The Blue and the sequel to it, The Fugitive Colours, both for just under a dollar. Can't ask for a better price than that, except for maybe free. Carol has the link in her message #2236.

I love Honolulu and agree, from Australia think it's about 16-17 hours from time to airport here to landing.
A long day that is so worth it when you arrive in paradise!
