I am so sorry for your losses. I can't imagine how hard this is.
Thanks for your kind comments re my losses. When one is in the 70s, such is life, unfortunately.I’m sharing a BBC Archive clip that you may all find fascinating. It’s from 1962 and I’m amazed to share that I remember the droll interviewer. It’s a report of what turned out to be the dying days of the British “Season”. Instead of bowing to the Queen (she had stopped that happening in 1958) the 17 year old daughters of the filthy rich were forced to bow to a huge cake. The interviews with the debutantes are hilarious - my favourites include reference to “chinless wonders” and frightful parties in Scotland.

I forgot if I recommended the Wishing Well series by Sofi Laporte. I thought thet were well written but were Regency in modern garb. The stories were quite original with bluestocking, adventuress, etc. I did not read them in order and it was okay. They're not terribly expensive and are KU.

I will have to watch it later, but that is hilarious - bowing to a cake.
Yes Happy BW. It’s the continuation of the British Season, as we read about in our HRs. Daughters who are escendants of the “ton”, the merchant class and nouveau riche. The fashions have changed but the only major difference is the huge cake.
Has anyone read Lessons in Chemistry? It's got all these 5 star ratings and I can't find a reason to continue reading it. It's suppose to be funny, but it's not. IMHO, it's about a bunch of brilliant people that are socially inept or deviant with all kinds of crazy events thrown in that don't seem to add to the story. Looking to see if I should continue reading it or just return it.
A Georgette Heyer bargain for $1.99:The Convenient Marriage This link doesn't get you to the $1.99 version, but I just downloaded at Amazon. It was one of the few Heyer romances I didn't have in Kindle.

Thanks, OLT - got it. I first read it from our public library when I was a teenager.
I have started to read Sylvester by Georgette Heyer. I found it in a second hand shop for £1.00. This story was first printed in 1957 . Now that’s going back some years .
Just rushed to check for The Convenient Marriage - it is the first Heyer I read. $9.99 for a Kindle version. No thanks. I already own two copies in hardback (one with a glorious dust cover) and one copy in paperback. Kindle will have to wait.
Here in the US there is often a celebration of Heyer's birthday in August with several of her romances offered at $1.99 during that month. That's how I got all my Kindle versions. I wouldn't spend ten dollars for them.

Ah, Sylvester and those eyebrows.
The Heyer books I have read up to now. I have found that they start off slow. But get better the more you read the story. Sylvester eyebrows 😂

That's astonishing, that he did all that riding.
HBW2020---
He did all that riding. A good story. In real life the actor
Tom Burleson lived w/ Nicole Kidman for a time. Before
she knew the other Tom. Did you see the movie sequel?
Kirk Douglas could not play the wealthy ranch owner
in 2nd movie due to health issues.

Happy Easter 2 days early to all those who celebrate!
And the spiritual message gave/gives many people hope.

Happy happy to all. Hard for me to believe but my husband and I are finally on our 50th anniversary cruise from Italy to Greece. It’s now 52 years we have been married and we figured it was now or never. We are in Sorrento today and Palermo tomorrow. I have never been on a cruise before and it’s actually lovely, although it feels like a retired community on the ocean.
Mrs. Pearl---
Sorry, I didn't mean to forget Passover. When did it start?
OLT---
Congrats on anniversary of your wedded bliss! Be weary of
any pirates posing as privateers. Lucky you and your husband
will see cool art & architecture & plenty of history.

Passover starts at sundown today.
Enjoy OLT. My favourite 2 countries in the world. The coastline around Sorrento! Will you circumnavigate Sicily before heading East?
Hope you enjoy your time in Sorrento. We went on holiday there some years back. Which was enjoyable. We did a coach tour round Sicily. Which was really good. I remember going to Palermo. The coach could not get through a small street because of a parked car in the way. The people and shop keepers picked the car up and moved it, so the coach could pass. It is a very busy city.
Where are you going in Greece. They have some lovely islands

I can't remember if I saw it or not. :(

Danker, 3 stops in Sicily: Sorrento, Palermo and Naxos. Then to Malta. The last days are Crete, Santorini, Rhodes, Kusadasi in Turkey, and finally we disembark in Athens. My husband’s father was Sicilian so he’s enjoying these first days.
What a trip! I’ve never been to Malta, Crete or Rhodes and have certainly long wished to visit the last two.
It’s a real treat. We splurged on a good and relatively small cruise ship with less than a thousand people. Big cabin with lounge area, private balcony, large bathroom with separate tub and shower. I’m feeling like a queen.
Sounds like you are having a good time. We like the Greek islands and Italy. Never been on a cruise. So will be interesting to know what you thought of it overall . When you get back home.
Well ... I hope that this is a sign that she hasn't stopped writing. I thought the two books she has published so far were excellent. Georgina Clarke tweeted about playing around with her work in progress. https://twitter.com/clarkegeorgina1/s...
She wrote two books in this series:

Thanks HappyBookWorm for the Twitter link re GC. But I will be devastated if she turns Lizzie into a time traveller. It’s my unfavourite form of HR.
OLT - your set-up sounds AMAZING. Both times I went on a ship I was in a claustrophobic shoebox. To be able to approach and leave Rhodes leaning on the rail of your own balcony - wow. Have fun.
The only time I've seen that work well was in a paranormal romance. The main character heard a cat meow and followed the sound into a room. She found herself in another century as herself. It is a series. A Stitch in Time
Stepping in to wave hello. I'm not sure I've actually gotten anything done but it sure took a long time. Housework.

I am not a fan of Stephanie Laurens. As best I remember, I didn't particularly like her heroes. Haven't read one in years. Although ... I just read the first sentence of it on Amazon, so may give it another shot one day.
I'm reading a serial killer book. It does have some romance in it.
I love lists, found this one, and haven't read several of these books. https://katherinegrantromance.com/new...
