2021 SRC: Week 1 Fantasy Summer Getaways
EDIT: I decided to change my book. I will be reading The Quiet Girl by S. F. Kosa instead of reading The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern.

I’d like to participate too! I think I was signed up at the branch when I registered my son, but I’ll track on Goodreads :)Christine
BTW - I listened to Ninth House, and it definitely kept my attention even though it is not my usual genre. If you have any connection to Yale, you should read/listen to it! I know several people who worked at Beineke Library, and that was the setting for several creepy things in this book.

Excited for another reading challenge. I’m Jennifer, username Jaybee. I have a big stack of books on to be read pile, but have been in a terrible reading slump. I’m currently chipping away at The Great Believers for my book club.
Hello APL and fellow readers! I love this first week's reading inspiration... seconding Klara and the Sun, Piranesi, Black Sun, and Monstress, all of which I read over the past year.Just finished First, Become Ashes, which is more contemporary fantasy/soft sci-fi/??genre-agnostic??

Hi @Diana. You are signed up! Congrats on finishing your first summer reading book:)
Abi wrote: "Just finished Grown! Not fantasy, but I've got some fantasy up next on the list :)"@ Abi How was Grown? Would it be a good title for a book discussion?
This week I finished:Bad Feminist by Roxane Gay
Felix Ever After by Kacen Callendar
Unf*ck Your Brain by Faith Harper (I hated this, that doesn't happen often)
I'm still working on this week's selection, "The Starless Sea" (which I am loving) but in the meantime, I've finished "Olympus, Texas" by Stacey Swann, "Modern Baptists" by James Wilcox and "American Spy" by Lauren Wilkinson
Hi! I'm interested in participating. Can I be signed up with the username milannar? I just finished "The Maidens" by Alex Michaelides and "The Hour of the Witch" by Chris Bohjalian!

We put any books we read this week here, even if they are not Sci/Fi fantasy, right? I just read Love Lettering, which is somewhat of a romance and also an ode to calligraphy. A good beach read.
I liked Olympus Texas when I started it, but it lost steam toward the middle and I didn't love the ending. I didn't hate it, but it was just meh for me.
Not from the list, but I read The Great Believers and Firekeeper’s Daughter this week. Both were good, but Firekeeper’s Daughter blew me away.

Thanks! It sounded like an interesting premise, but sounds like something OK to read if nothing else is available.
I finished two books this week with both SciFi/Fantasy. Tin Man was the first. I also finished Supercarrier to start a series. Thanks for the start.
This is Jody and I am so happy to be doing this SRC with you again. I’m reading the House on the Cerulean Sea and loving it!
Just finished Last Night at the Telegraph Club, which would ALSO be a great YA book club pick, Kate! 😊
