Welcome to the Heir of Fire Buddy Read Discussion thread! This thread officially opens on July 1st and anyone can join at any time. Please keep in mind that spoilers are allowed in this thread but only up to the group's current reading place. Do not spoil the book if you've read further than the group. Any extra days can be used to catch up!

Each day we will be reading by chapters or page numbers. Page numbers are an approximation based on the hardcover or paperback that is the default on Goodreads. The suggested Buddy Read discussion schedule is as follows:

Also, I used to not like Manon's chapters but so far I don't mind reading her POV. I really hope Chaol ends up telling Dorian the truth soon because its so sad to see both them keeping secrets from each other and suffering alone. (hide spoiler)]

I haven't been able to read the past two days because I got my second dose of the vaccine yesterday and unfortunately have been dealing with the side effects 😅

Have you guys started?

First, I hope you feel better.

Second, no 😅 Kinda had some difficulties.
Day 1: "I'm not feeling like reading, I'll start it tomorrow"
Day 2: "Lemme have a nap first. Only 1h" (1h turned into 3h, and then I was just meh, I'm gonna sleep till the morning)
Day 3: Had problems with electricity and couldn't use my laptop where the book is, both pdf and audio.

Now at day 4 the electricity problem is fixed and I should, really should, at least start the book.

Started it! I'm already sleepy even though it's not that late, so I'm gonna stop reading, but I at least managed to read 4 chapters.

Don't have any thoughts yet.. but I don't remember what happened in the previous book 😅

I know what you mean about naps turning out longer than expected. That was me the past few days. It's good your electricity problems have been fixed and you've started reading the book!

* I've heard of this Rowan dude.. just I didn't know he was a prince too.
*I don't know whose chapters I like more. On one hand I like Celaena and Rowan parts, but at the same time it's not like she's doing anything fun. I am interested in Manon and want to know more.
* I wonder what's the deal with the Aedion..
* Also, Sorscha's fascination with Dorian is making me a bit uncomfortable. That's another thing I'm curious about, where from does she know him, how did she get obsessed with him and if she's really, truly obsessed with him what pushed her to it.
* Since I didn't look up book 2 summary, and probably won't.. Oooh, Baba Yellowlegs is the one that appeared in the previous book.. Celaena killed her ooooor? (hide spoiler)]

I don't really remember much about Sorscha's backstory so I'm interested to read more about why she's obsessed with him. And yup! Celaena was the one to kill Baba Yellowlegs in the last book. I felt bad for starting late and knowing I'm probably not going to feel like reading at times.. but now that I'm ahead :D I'm gonna chill and do other stuff today. So don't worry Cat, I think you'll be able to catch up to us.

Good luck with finishing your other book! I plan on skipping today after making my reading goal yesterday since I'm a little behind on my reread of We Hunt the Flame.

Spoilers up to chapter 24: (view spoiler)[ Celaena finally being able to shift and use her powers to save her and Rowan was a fun chapter to read! I really thought Manon would end up with Titus but forgot she ends up getting the "weaker" one. It's impressive how the weaker creature ended up defeating Titus. And I'm glad Dorian finally knows the truth when he overheard Chaol and Aedion! (hide spoiler)]

Just finished reading part 1! (view spoiler)[Lol yes I loved that scene where Abraxos just wanted to smell the flowers!

And omg these past few chapters were going to make me cry also! I felt really bad for Celaena, especially when she finally admitted to herself why she was upset and released her sadness. Rowan's initial reaction annoyed me but I'm glad that by the end of part 1, they're starting to get along and Rowan opened up. (hide spoiler)]

Lol we were on the same page until this morning... I started reading as soon as I woke up and then stopped at chapter 40. 😂 The pace became better now compared to the beginning, it's very easy to read this quickly.

I'm going to stop for today since I should make progress on my other book.

Forgot to mention I read up to chapter 46 yesterday. (view spoiler)[ I'm happy that Mannon and Abbraxos were able to fly through the Crossing without any problems! It's nice seeing Rowan and Celaena getting along. Also, I like how Celaena embraced her powers and started learning how to use them as weapons. The scene where Rowan was fussing over Celaena because she was hurt was sweet! (hide spoiler)]

I made some progress. I wanted to catch up to you, and read the spoiler, but I'm not feeling like reading more today so I only finished chapter 43.

Reading about Chaol and that crew is the least exciting part of the book for now. And I don't have much to say about anything other because I didn't read that much to have something to comment.

🙈😂 your feeling is right. I haven't read it in a few days, had some other things to do, and that'll be the case tomorrow too. So I'll try reading it from Friday-Sunday (hopefully I'll finish it before Sunday for those points)

Hey guys!!! I've been sooo behind on my BRs this month D:

So, I just reached 50% of the book, finished chapter 33 and I totally agree with you, Chaol's chapters are somewhat dull, although I prefer them than Dorian's... Something feels so off and too-quick about everything happening with Sorcha, so I'm not particularly enjoying it, pft...

Apart from Celaena, I'm also obsessed with Manon, though, and I never expected to like someone so ruthless and savage, ahaha!

In the next update I hope I'll be able to open all the spoilers, too xD

I've read yesterday and gotten up to 80% but I was too tired to make a post here.

I don't know if I have anything to comment 😅 Maybe reading it over a month is screwing up how I see the book, but I don't feel like anything super excited has happened. Some things started happening now where I'm at so maybe that'll be interesting but yeah.. nothing much to comment.

Sorcha: I wouldn't be surprised if something is going on with her, but if nothing happens I'll be surprised it didn't because it really doesn't work.

So I wanted to finish the book today, but I'm also BRing These Violent Delights and I was a lot behind on it so I read that instead. Even though I had the same idea like you, to finish it before the point count... that won't happen.

Things did get more interesting at the end.

Poor Dorian, like shit is going to happen to him. Also, Sorcha.. I mean, I still don't feel she fit right into the book. Her being a rebel okay would've been okay if we had more hints to it or her actually doing something instead of just being with Dorian. (hide spoiler)]

I'm about 88% done and (view spoiler)[ chapter 54 was a really sad chapter! The truth behind what happened to Aelin and her parents that night was devastating. I'm glad by the end of the chapter, she accepted her past and decided to fight back.

I hate the King of Adarlan even more after reading that chapter. (hide spoiler)]

It has 89 chapters.. how about 5 chapters a day, which would end at 18 days.. but it's not like we sped through this one 😅 I don't know how slum-ish I am, or when I'll have one of slump days so *shrugs* and also, if we do get to read more and faster.. that's not a problem we'll comment it in the thread.

The only question is now when should we start? Could we maybe wait for Saturday or next Sunday? I have to make some things for the group and if my internet is amazing like it was the previous two days it'll be a question if I'll manage to post those.

Sure we can start on Saturday or next Sunday! And 5 chapters/day is good for me. If we fall behind or ahead it's no problem.

Hey guys!! Finally managed to get to finish HoF!! :D I'm also up for QoS, although I hope reading goes better for me, ahaha!

So, overall I really enjoyed the book (mostly the second part of the book, though). (view spoiler)[I'd have to say that I only enjoyed Manon's chapters until the middle of the book, and then finally we got to see another aspect of Aelin, finally! I liked how she freed Rowan, too! And I love how good friends they've become so far!!

Dorian, Dorian, Dorian, I think Sorscha was just the author's way to push him over the edge and finally make him stand up to his father! Otherwise, Sorscha's character and relationship with Dorian was sadly indifferent and rushed IMO. (hide spoiler)]

I agree with you about the reason Sorcha was in the book, only to give a push.. it's a wasted character.
