I'm starting to wonder if I should have created a spreadsheet when we started reading these books so I could keep track of the clues and suspects over all the books. 🥴
Good idea Lynn. I'm wondering if Constance is a Mata Hari for sorts. It makes me wonder what they will reveal in the next book.
I wonder if Constance is still alive. The people who are running this conspiracy are powerful. I want to know how they got their hooks in so many people.
Constance certainly knew something devastating and it probably involved her husband and son. She either told the General or he found out and that got him killed.

I think it was mentioned that she is married with kids, but that could just be what she is telling Dax. I may be reaching on this one.
Lynn I thought in the previous book it said she was drunk and died in a car accident. If I read the books instead of listen I could do a search. I don't remember. There are so many players. This is where that spreadsheet would come in handy.
Constance died in a car crash, not long after Zack married. Whatever she knew, so did the Admiral who was handling her at Zack’s wedding. Looks like she was sent to London and put in an institution under an alias.
Lynn, I think you were talking about Natalia.
I like the Mata Hari analogy.
That spreadsheet idea is a good one. I’ll go back and see if I can capture those we’ve come up with to date and include them in the opening thread.
This is such a great puzzle.

Jonetta, Do you take copious notes while listening? I often think I should do that, but my listening time is often during my commute or while working and can't do both.
Sometimes, if I’m at home and can do it. If you’ll notice on the opening thread, I have the spoiler info section where I can jot down discoveries. I’m also capturing the character lists so that helps, too.
But as a rule, I don’t. Fortunately, I’m blessed with a really good memory and have a way of recording just a few words to jog my memory.

I like listening to these books, but the details often escape me. So, if I can, I get both the audio and e-book from the library.
I like to listen to the books too. Normally, I buy the ebook & audio, but traditionally published books are too expensive for me to do that often. If I can get the e book from the library I will. I like to go back and read some sections.
I am taking notes as I read. At the beginning of the book, Constance says something about an "accident" and about the "girl finding out" and perhaps being killed.
Perhaps Constance was in an accident that killed Natalia's son, Sava? Or perhaps she had a miscarriage during an accident and Natalia's son Sava was passed off as Constance's son (Zack). If Joy found out the truth, she would be killed.
I like that one too, but I really don't like that Zack, the president, is a Russian mole. I can't go so far as to think his parents would cover up his death and substitute someone in his place.
Anita wrote: "I like that one too, but I really don't like that Zack, the president, is a Russian mole. Now they are trying for find someone to take their place.
Oh, never for a second do I believe Zach is a mole. He may have been replaced at birth but I don’t for a second think he knows anything about that.
Anita wrote: "I like that one too, but I really don't like that Zack, the president, is a Russian mole.."I don't think he is a mole either. Frank Hayes was desperate for a son, so either he or Constance could have been the driving force behind the switch. It could be that the conspiracy against Zack was only hatched later.
Natalia, a Russian agent, was in the Hayes household as a nanny to Zach. She had a son who died of SIDS, or did he? Did Zack die and Natalia's son took his place? Is Sergei the son of Natalia and the Ambassador?
Zack may be her real child but he’s not Sergei, going around killing off people. Sergei may be his twin? He’s not even aware that he could be her son.
Twins? That's good, Jonetta. It opens up all kinds of new conspiracy theories. How about: Sergei is Zack's identical twin brother and is preparing to take his place as President.
Anita wrote: "Twins? That's good, Jonetta. It opens up all kinds of new conspiracy theories. How about: Sergei is Zack's identical twin brother and is preparing to take his place as President."OMG! That would be something. However, it would require killing all of the Perfect Gentlemen as they would never fall for the switch.
One down and three to go. I do hope that if the authors ever read these "theories" that they know we are having so much fun with this series.
Anita wrote: "I like listening to these books, but the details often escape me. So, if I can, I get both the audio and e-book from the library."I've been getting both the audio and e-book too. There are just so many details to remember.
Jonetta wrote: "Zack may be her real child but he’s not Sergei, going around killing off people. Sergei may be his twin? Karen ♐ wrote: "Because if he was an identical one, someone surely would have noticed that."Very true!
Identical or fraternal, the switching Zack for his twin doesn't play out. A fraternal twin would not look like him and an identical twin would not convince the Perfect Gentleman or anyone else close to Zack.
