Holland professes that she’s no longer bothered by Dax having married Courtney, though that’s not quite the truth. What do you think bothered her the most by his marriage? Can she really get past it?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3501 comments If it was some random woman he ran into when he was drunk it would be easier to take. Trying to do the right thing for Dax, she loses her love, her friends, and her pseudo family. Courtney pretended to step away from Dax unless Holland gave her permission to pursue him. What a fake friend she was! The female version of Peter Morgan.

I believe she put Courtney behind her in the end. Dax let her know it wasn't love. He didn't even want Courtney really. Also, he never gave Courtney Holland's ring. That let her know he only wanted Holland to have a part of his past.

Lynn (ftbooklover) There was a lot of discussion about being the first - a little naive in today's world.

I agree Lynn. I was surprised that the guys were talking about being the first.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments It took her a long time to get past Dax just leaving and marrying Courtney while she sacrificed everything for him. When Dax told her he hadn't given Courtney his grandmother's ring, I think that finally proved to her that he really did love her.

I agree with all of you about that ring. It was a defining element, proof that she was the special one.

For Holland, she made a big sacrifice for Dax and he marries someone else overnight and it was to her supposed best friend. That was a double whammy. Sharon, I agree that if had been some anonymous woman her reaction would be different.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1812 comments For me (and perhaps for Holland), the biggest issue wasn't that he married Courtney (which was bad enough), but that he stayed married to her for a couple of years. He could have divorced her immediately, but he didn't.

I agree that Dax not giving the ring to Courtney made all the difference to Holland.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments I wondered that if Dax was coherent enough to not use the ring in his pocket to marry Courtney and to go buy another ring, was he not coherent enough to know this was a very bad idea?

I think that Courtney just might have been the driving force behind the quickie marriage. Courtney: right place, right time. Part of a conspiracy? Maybe.

I agree that three years is a long time for Dax to come to his senses.

I thought the same thing. He had the ring in his pocket then went to a jeweler to give her something else. At that point, his brain was working enough for him to call a halt to the marriage. He could have continued with the affair.

Even in his inebriated brain, that precious ring powered through.
