SOLVED. Sci-fi, one person with multiple bodies OR multiple people who jump bodies?

i don’t think i read the whole book, just browsed at the library or bookstore. i think i remember a central character was a man in a futuristic city, there was an older asian woman or man, and i think a young woman (as three separate characters and/or parts of this man’s body/mind.) they might have all been numbered instead of named. either this body jumping was something everyone did, or he worked for the government and was testing new technology?

i must have first read it within the last five years, i think it’s a pretty recent book.

searching it up, i don’t think it’s “the three body problem” or “void” and it’s definitely not “never let me go” (which keeps showing up)
