So far, I'm really enjoying this book. It's told in 3 perspectives and I honestly thought there'd only be one or two that I'd really like. I actually like them all and they all have their own distinct personalities and voices as well as their own character arcs which I think will intermingle at some point. The book's written in such a way that I KNOW my heart will be crushed at some point, it's just that emotional already and I'm only 102 pages in!!

I'm almost finished with the book and I'm honestly struggling to see how it would end or how anything would get resolved. For about 300 pages the story went around the plot and not towards the plot. It's only now on page 350 that I feel like we're getting somewhere. I have no idea how to rate this.

Hey, Syl I just finished it and I have to say I agree with you. I honestly liked all three characters and felt invested in their stories. I don't think I even minded that it was a slow build, but it seemed like the end took so long to happen and then it happened very quickly. I can even forgive the somewhat open-ended ending, but I feel like the author could have done so much more with it. On the other hand, I know it was her first work, and in that sense, I thought it was quite good. She IS a good writer. I just think she needs a little bit of maturing. I look forward to seeing what she will write in the future.

Same here! The ending was too quick and that whole revelation with Jesse and Kate could've been dragged out a bit more. I'm still excited to see her next books because I too believe she's a great writer :)

Just wanted to say that I just finished the author's second novel and I ended up liking it more. It's a completely different story though! It's billed as a YA romance, but I think it's more of a coming-of-age story for the two protagonists, although romance plays a small part. I didn't really like either of them at the beginning but I loved their character growth. Anyway, it sounds like she's finding her groove.

Ooh yay! That's really good to hear. I didn't really like I Hope You Get This Message but I'm glad she has grown as a writer in her new books :)
