And the vampire in the cave is mentioned again, and now I reinstate my theory that he might be Elise's father who just disappeared.
If anything this makes me believe this theory more: he's a (very) powerful vampire, he's being punished, he was going to leave the Black Card (maybe when Elise was born) and he has reason to be jealous of his sister and want her position in the council so he was doing this with King. - The heart attack I got when Ryder died. I would have doubted it had we not read "they were grieving Ryder" in Caged Wolf. That was a complete mind trick that fucked with my brain. I was staring at the wall, my logic saying that was a very short scene we're not moving to a new POV and Ryder just died, and my emotions are just crying and screaming! I turned the fucking page and I do not know whether I was more angry or more relieved.

- Dante and Ryder got their divine moment!!!
Had King not taken Elise through black magic, I am sure they would have had their divine moment with her then.
I expected it not to be so subtle. But I guess Astral Adversaries have a different type of Divine Moment.

- I see the similarity between King taking Elise and Lionel taking Tory. It is too similar yet very different, but I couldn't not connect them.

I still don't know if Gareth managed to fake his death or not. Wouldn't it be the biggest surprise if he comes back in book 5 to help free Elise? I'm not a fan of that because I am sure we will have dynamics and conflicts, and TBH, we've had enough of that for 4 books, but I wouldn't be opposed to him being alive, especially since that theory was lingering for me. I will say that I have realized that my dislike for this series is because of Elise. I really don't like this girl. Maybe it's the narrator's voice or I don't know, but I just don't like her. I'm not sure what she can do to change that for me. Or maybe it's the RH aspect. I'm not sure anymore.

I do love all of these guys though. However, I'm hoping (view spoiler)[that all of this self pity stuff goes away soon. I really don't want a whole book with Dante, Ryder and Gabriel feeling sorry for themselves and hope it goes away quickly.

I get that there has never been multiple elysian mates, but the fact that she literally just had sex with Dante and she wasn't sad or longing for Leon the whole time, makes it clear that this is probable or could happen.

I mean, because if we are all going to be honest, we know that they all are going to be her mates. It's just a matter of when each has their moment.

Chapter 20 => (view spoiler)[Ok, I'm starting to be ok with Elise right now. I think it's because she's not having much of a say in things right now.

I won't lie, I was really pissed at what Sal did to her. Or tried to do. I was so glad that Dante was still there (didn't think he left her for a second), and did what he did. I'm hoping we find out if Sal gave up more info later on.

I'm also glad that Ryder finally let down his guard and admitted he wanted Elise and just went for it. I'm really hoping he doesn't back track on that.

I'm starting to think that the reason we won't have any more mates this book is because all of these guys need to figure out how to be friends and/or work together. It's very clear they all want Elise, but they still fight one another at every turn. Although it seems that maybe that will start getting better, even if it's just by a little.

Also, I think that's why Leon got the mate first. He's so open to bringing them all together. Out of all the guys, he would've been the only one to be able to do this.

As far as Gareth, I do think he's dead. I think he was killed because of that book he took. I'll be shocked if he's alive, but I just can't seem to get behind that. I would love that for Elise and the guys, but I don't think so. (hide spoiler)]

My heart really breaks for Gabriel and Ryder. Those two are so alone and are so used to it, it's hard to see them struggle to realize they have a friend in each other.

Then you have all the crap that Dante just spilled to Ryder about his dad and the past. For Ryder to realize that someone was hiding things from him.

I love that Leon did this to bring them all together for Elise. I'm really hoping that this starts to turn the tide for them all to start working together.

I'm also starting to think that Dante and Ryder aren't Astral Adversaries because I think they were forced into this by lies that neither of them knew about. (hide spoiler)]

Can't say I was too surprised by it being her dad. It had to be someone! I feel like the sisters have a reason for each and every character and they're all connected in some wild way somehow.

The vision of Ryder was horrible. Especially given that in one of the DP books I think they've said something happens to Ryder? I didn't necessarily think it was a vision at first but I definitely thought there was no way Ryder could die! It's just not allowed haha.

Ryder and Gabriel's relationship in this book was one of my favourite parts I think. It was amazing!

I'm still thinking it's the professor. Like Grace said, he's suspiciously absent in this book but at the beginning when he meets with Elise, he's bringing up everything she did over the break. She even mentions that she's questioning where he would have found out about where she was but figures people must be talking about it.

I didn't love the ending. It reminded me so much of Cursed Fates. It felt a little repetitive but that may be because of the way we're reading it.

I still don't think I like Elise. I liked that there was more focus on the boys this time. I find her so stubborn and stuck on the idea of not being told to do anything by anyone that she gets in her own way. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 9-16 (view spoiler)[Well I spoke too soon, because they found her right away in chapter 9, lol. There does seem to be a lot of sex right now. It's starting to feel like filler. I'm trying not to compare the series, but ZA just feels like it's always moving forward with something and a good mix of it.

This series feels like Elise is a sex addict and can't control herself and just has to have her guys. Same with the guys at this point. They just are all thinking of Elise and what they want to do to her. I mean, it's shocking they are able to function in society with how much they want sex all the time.

I want to know what she finds out with Gareth (it almost feels like that has just gone away at this point) and let's deal with King (I'm convinced it's Titan).

I also need to add, they are having so much sex, that Gabriel couldn't even see what was happening with Ryder because of all the lust. Maybe it's just me...

Don't get me wrong, it's not awful. But I need them to stop having sex and move forward with the plot. However, I think there will be way more of this since it's almost 700 pages lol. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 25 - end => I just had to push through and get this over with. There is so much unnecessary sex in this one. 100% filler sex which makes it worse.

We do get answers to all the questions. (view spoiler)[it was nice to see Elise get a relationship with her dad. She is in fact related to Caleb, so we see him in this one.

I was right on Titan. Sad for Elise because I know she kind of looked at him as a father figure.

Gareth is in fact dead. She does get a final moment with him at the end, so that was nice.

What I thought they talked about with Ryder in Chapter 13, was in fact not what I think people were talking about.

The epilogue's were nice because we get a glimpse of where they are in the future. It was cute. (hide spoiler)]

The chapters of Rosalie and then Ryder with Bianca are so precious. How Bianca started calling him nuovo filio. And how he was there for Rosa.
I wonder if Ryder will walk away from the Lunars or how it will go down. If the "mourning" is his presence with them and him as a leader rather than his person alive.

I am also curious about that hound that keeps coming to him. What role will it play? Or is it just a detail that isn't much more than Ryder character development.


Unsurprising to me, Elise is an Altair, after all. I am glad I caught on that.
I want to see how her relationship with her dad will be.
Melinda Altair swooping in and then making this political is so typical.
Her father will definitely help them against King.
But I remembered what Caleb said about his mother's view on gangs ruling these cities and it just makes so much sense.
Elise's dad wasn't jealous of his sister (my old theory) but rather she wasn't doing anything to help and he wanted to change that. (hide spoiler)]

Seriously though, I think there is some truth in that statement. I find this a lot lately, where authors focus entirely too much on the smut and trying to make it as smutty as they can, but lose focus on the actual plot of the story and then they go into rush mode to finish the book. Thus leaving us readers wanting more answers to things or asking more questions because things are glazed over or embellished for no reason.

The epiloguess are so so good.
Leading up to the end I felt so much was missing as I mentioned before, and it was anticlimactic, but I also loved how they ended it and it didn't just stop there.

I did think they will have more children though lol
