I've got two trophies left on WRC Generations and both are very grindy so no 'ping' there for a little while.
I've just reached the university on TLOU. During both previous play throughs of the game back on PS3, I've not really enjoyed the last part of the game after the university. Hopefully that changes this time. I've also got Left Behind to do after the main game and I only played that once previously, over 10 years ago so that will be almost like playing it for the first time I don't remember much of it from before.
I’ve completed the Spider-Man 2 campaign. The second half of the campaign picked up a bit with the story, plot twists and missions. The number of really well done multi-phase boss fights is nothing like I’ve seen before but I actually quite enjoyed them. Not usually a fan of lengthy boss fights and especially so many. I enjoyed this game more than the first and the graphics are top notch. I’ll give it an 8/10 on the r-score-o-meter. If it was a little more original and wasn’t so much of a map full of side content that is so over done, and seen so many times before, it would be a 9.
Next I think I’ll play one or both of the Alan Wake 2 DLC campaigns before Sniper Elite Resistance is released at the end of the month on Game Pass. Sniper Elite for me is like gaming crack - loved them all so far. Always a little AA but I find the gameplay loop addictive.

Doesn't Left Behind fit in best immediatly after the university section (so immediately before the section playing as Ellie)? That's certainly how it was sequenced on the TV series and how I played it when I played TLoU remastered last year. Worked pretty well.
(I'm a cheapskate and have plumped for TLoU remastered over TLoU pt1 for my TLoU 1 fix)

Hi Phil, yes I did give serious consideration to doing that with Left Behind. It makes sense and I still might but I think I'll stick to finishing the main game and then doing Left Behind like its 2013 ;)
I don't remember much about the game after the university (other than I didn't much like it) so I'm eager to get it out of the way and partly curious see if I prefer it now.
Hi everyone.
Im in the final act of ME3.
Do you know the feeling of being so tired of a game that it makes you mentally ill just thinking of playing it again?
That´s where im at with ME3.
Its not that i dislike the game. I actually think its better than ME2 but im 152 hrs into the trilogy and i cant take it anymore.

Just think to yourself, at least I'm not playing Andromeda and it'll make you feel happy you're still playing ME3 instead ;)

I've fired up my PS3 over the last few nights. However, I should get back to TLOU soon as I was making good progress before getting sidetracked.
I saw Atlas Fallen is PS+ Extra game for January. I've always been interested in this one but always held off getting it as it always looked primed for being added to + at some point.

More 'retro' gaming from me last night. My PS3 is 15 years old this year. Fingers crossed it keeps going for a while longer.

The original Star Wars BattleFront games from the ps2
Doom I and II (which are both now available in MP mode online)
Legacy of Kain 1 and 2,
Original Tomb Raider 1-3
etc., etc.

Some of the games I’m talking about are completely remastered games. They’re available in the ps store for purchase or to play on ps+, and the games I’ve seen are as good or better than the original releases.
*I’ve taken all the ps3 controllers I have and internally cleaned and modified them to work like new or better. We don’t play the system very often anymore but whenever we decide we want to, it’s there.

In 2013 after jumping ship and the PS3 becoming my main console, I bought my first COD game for it. I was still buying them day one, every year back then. I played through the campaign and pretty much left it at that, dismissing the idea of ever platting it. In 2021 I went back to it again and completed the campaign on veteran and did a few online trophies but once again, wrote off the plat.
Last week I having a look through PSNP sessions and saw one open for Ghosts and joined to see what happens. Thankfully what happened was I joined a group who knew exactly what they were doing and showed me what I needed to do in the online Extinction mode. Over the last few nights I've knocked out 9 trophies I previously thought impossible and got one of my rarest plats so far. The game mode itself is pretty enjoyable too once you know what to do, although not exactly up there with zombies or Modern Warfare spec ops.
Having unlocked the first trophy in Nov 2013, PSNP has time to plat of 11 years and 2 months.
Sorry for the essay everyone, I'm just a bit happy with this one.

Been sleeping on this one after doing all the hardwork last month.
Good game, with a nice setting and interesting protagonist. Thankfully you don't have to go too far put of your way for the plat after doing most things through natural play.
Congrats on the Ghosts plat. Wasn't that the first COD game on PS4? Like the first cross gen PS3/PS4 COD. And it got a lot of stick at the time if I remember correctly with poor reviews etc. Can barely remember the game/campaign myself now.
Not much gaming for me over the weekend as I was away. I did manage to play the first six operations of Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2. Actually really good and didn't have any issues finding randoms to play with and they all played nicely helping each other out. Still got two more operations to do but I don't think they have mission completion trophies connected with them (like the first six do) but I'll still play them at some point maybe even next weekend. Might try one of the Alan Wake 2 DLC campaigns as well next weekend but for some reason I'm really not in the mood for dark horror type games at the mo (hence why I've not started Stalker 2 either). Don't know why - perhaps it's because this time of year feels dark and horrible enough.

Thanks R. Yes that's the one. I think its quite underrated, the campaign at least. There was a section where you played as a dog which worked slightly better than it sounds. I can't remember the story but you play as some kind of soldier and your dad gets killed early on and becomes a tale of revenge. The story wasn't great but I remember there being some decent missions along the way. I'm not really surprised there weren't multiple follow up like Black Ops and Modern Warfare though.

At the start of the PS4 gen I bought my console in a bundle with Battlefield 4 and Killzone Shadow Fall. I was playing the MP of these two to death. I did play a bit of Ghosts but I do remember the MP not being my favourite of the three.

I've gone back to grinding out the last 2 trophies on WRC Generations. I really need to crack on with TLOU though.
I've started keeping an eye on PSNP sessions in case anyones playing old games I'm missing trophies on that I still have.

I really wish they'd do a PS5 Borderlands 2 remaster. Given there was a Vita, PS4 and PSVR version on top of the PS3 one, I'm surprised its not been re-released. Hopefully not too long until Borderlands 4.

Saw Doom: The Dark Ages has got a release date, that might motivate me to try and get back into Eternal, which might put me off picking up the new one
Doom Eternal honestly put me off Doom for good. I’ve played all the previous Doom games but Eternal was so full on too fast and stressful - at least that’s how I found it - and I promised myself never to play any future Doom games. However, the dev has said Dark Ages will of course be fast but not quite like Eternal and you’re more of Tank. So I’ll give it a chance.
Gaming wise for me I’ve completed Alan Wake 2 Night Springs. It has three TV like episodes all different. Really enjoyed them but episode 3 had a really annoying infinite room puzzle I wasn’t fond of. Lake House DLC next.

It gets a lot more stressful. By the time I finished it it was a relief more than anything. You can’t fault the quality but boy it was difficult and stressful even on easy. Doom 2016 they got it spot on.

....and I've relapsed and hawed the Alan Wake 2 dlc, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black and Redacted
Deckard I can only say what is true. Previous attempts should cloud your judgement. The game is meant to torture you. And Alan Wake DLC hawing is what is meant to be.

And gave Redacted a quick go, which I quite like, though the first boss type I tried was a complete bullet sponge

The main stumbling block to getting the plat is now finishing the campaign on authentic difficulty which is ridiculously hard and there are no check points. Apparently it can be made a bit easier in coop so will see if I can find someone for that. If by some miracle I can do that, I'll go all out to clear the other misc trophies outstanding.
In other news, I got the second to last trophy on WRC Generations and now just have to grind up to player level 150 (currently at 90).

Got to level 101/150 on WRC Generations. Will keep chipping away.
I also played one of the solo challenges on Sniper Elite 3 as well. Basically horde mode. I thought it would only take 30 mins or so but hadn't realised it's 15 waves split over 5 rounds so took way over 2 hours and past midnight. It took me a while to get into it and remember basics like how to access the weapon wheel. There's one more of these solo challenge maps but now I know what I'm doing, it will hopefully be a smmother ride.

Reinstalled The Callisto Protocol, to see if it'll click this time. Want to like it, but still not 100% convinced by the combat. Didn't feel quite as bad as when I'd first played, so it's a maybe

One thing I read about The Callisto Protocol is it's (on ps5 and Series X at least) VERY good looking. It obviously went head-to-head with the Dead Space remake, and lost - Dead Space just the better game by all accounts (I have not played Callisto) but Callisto is meant to look better etc.
I'm playing through Silent Hill 2 remake at the moment - and in many respects it is excellent, but from pure visuals and performance pov it's really quite disappointing for a late 2024 game. Dead Space remake knocks socks off it, as do all the Resi remakes - Resi 2 remake came out in 2019 and is miles ahead of Silent Hill 2 in terms of performance and imo looks better too.
I know graphics aren't everything and I'm still really enjoying Silent Hill 2 but why is it poor in other areas? It's nowhere near even the ps4 versions of TLoU2 or aforementioned Resi 2 and they're like 4/5 years old now AND previous gen - is it just that Blooper aren't all that good, or did they just not have the budget?

I played a bit more WRC Generations and helped a mate with the co driver trophies.
I then played some coop challenges on SE3 and got another ultra rare trophy done. Although an easy trophy so not sure why its so rare. I really hope I can persuade the guy I played with last night to coop the campaign with me. I can just about hold my own but this guy is on another level.
I saw High on Life is a PS+ Essential game for Feb. I've been tempted to buy it in sales a few times so will definitely give it a whirl.
