tbh at this point if someone in the street randomly shouted 'misthios!' I'd probably turn around thinking they were talking to me lol

And it won't be long until I start to refer to everyone as malakas

Error | 408 comments Finally picked up a few games on sale.

Cult of Lamb - This game is fun and super interesting. It's rogue-like + cult simulator. I was having a great time but kind of rage quit after half my cult died in two days and everything just fell apart. It's worth giving a look, especially on sale.

FFVI Pixel Remaster - finally grabbed it. I'll be replaying this sometime in the near future.

I also spent some time with Arcade Paradise after quitting lamb. Interesting little indie where you run a laundromat and build on an arcade. You basically wash clothes and play the little "arcade" games in your downtime.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Quite liked Cult of the Lamb as well, though I tried to go back to it a while back but there was too much going on at the camp, and couldn't remember what I was supposed to be doing

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments And speaking of cults - played a bit more of Cultist Simulator, which is a bit weird, bit confusing about what to do, but mildly interesting as well. Looking forward to a bit of Alien: Rogue Incursion later

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Only played about an hour of Alien Rogue Incursion but liked what I saw. Maybe a few too many aliens relatively early on, and could have been paced a bit better to build tension. Seems to have a good balance of being tense but not horrible though.

And had a look at the rest of the Jan sale, nowt much standing out for me, might pick up a couple of VR games while I'm in the mood

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Wasn't planning on hawing any more this year but played a couple of demos that seem decent enough that I think I'll bite. Slitterhead & Empire of the Ants

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments And Ghostwire Tokyo seems to have had a sneaky Pro upgrade...I think.. the last time I played it didn't have the higher framerate quality and performance modes anyway

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Which probably is wrong since I thought I'd read Microsoft dissolved Tango Gameworks

Completed Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Really excellent game. It’s like the movie in a game with excellent voice acting, cutscenes and story all nailing the nostalgia from the movies. Great exploration and varied open world areas. Good combat and stealth but nothing new in a game play sense. Highly recommend this game. Best new story and character driven action adventure to come along for a good while. 9/10 on the r-score-o-meter.

Not sure what to play next. I’ve just bought the Alan Wake 2 DLC campaigns in the January sale, and I have Spider-Man 2, Stalker 2, Space Marine 2 and HZD remastered in the backlog. I think Stalker 2 is too bleak and oppressive for me at the moment but it does look good.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Might pick up the Alan Wake 2 dlc myself...

Phil, psn: p4tiny | 197 comments I will be picking up Silent Hill 2 in January, but just waiting to see whether anywhere has it cheaper than PS store (£41.99)....

Hope everyone had a good crimbo. Gaming presents wise I got £100 of PS Store vouchers. Think I’ll save them as there is nothing I want to buy in the January PS Store sale that I haven’t bought already. Today finally completed the campaign of Space Marine 2. The final mission was by far the best and meaty. Final boss was good then went kinda weird going into a cut scene to finish him off. Good game though but spoilt for me with the standard PS5 poor resolution and stuttering performance - why i put it to one side for a while - but much improved on PS5 Pro once the patch was released. 8/10 on the r-score-o-meter. I’ll play the operations missions on and off over the coming weeks. I think next for me is Spider-Man 2.

Equinox80 | 665 comments Hi all. I got £80 worth of PSN credit too and not sure what to do with it either. I do quite fancy Hogwarts Legacy and SW Jedi Survivor but maybe not right now. My PS+ sub renews on 1st Jan so some will be eaten up on that but I might save the rest for a 2025 new release, maybe Borderlands 4.

I'm sure they must have patched Space Marine 2 shortly after you shelved it R. The resolution wasn't the best but I definitely never experienced stuttering performance on my standard PS5 during the 80 hours + I put into it. I did have the mode that prioritises frame rate selected though. There'd be a slight drop in frame rate when the screen was absolutely filled with Tyranids but I only really expreienced that towards the end of my time with it, when I was farming kills for the 41,000 kills trophy.

Talking of Space Marine 2, I wonder if there will be any big expansions to it this year. I still have installed in case they add some worthwhile DLC.

I've finished AC Mirage for the most part. I enjoyed it although didn't have a clue what was going on with the story at the end.

Having got all the online related trophies done on WRC Generations, I've made a start on career mode. Its more of the same in terms of being very much like WRC 9 & 10 but KT Racing had really nailed the formula of making these games with their last 3 games. This one looks to be a longer grind than the others so will play it around other games in my current mini backlog, which includes...

TLOU Part 1
Evil West
Mafia Definitive Edition (which has been in my backlog since 2020).

There's a small list of previously played games that look ripe for revisiting and trophy hawing if possible too.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I'm under no illusion that what I'm about to say will last any more than 5 minutes but....I'm going to hold off buying games for a while. I seem to have got into a bit of a habit of picking up a game, deciding I'm in the mood for something else and only get around to starting the one I'd bought months later.

I'd had a look at the store the past few days and, anything that was close to being added to the cart, I realised I'd probably something similar already in my collection I'd not played properly or left unfinished. So the plan is to stick with what I have until there's something I'm really in the mood for.

Equinox80 | 665 comments If there's not another post from you in less than 24 hours Deck, saying you've bought something, I'll be disappointed ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Ha ha, I was thinking I'd probably only last the weekend before my eyes start to wander, but 24 hours is likely more realistic ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Getting near the end of Persona 3 Reload now. I'd stuck quite a few hours into P3 Portable, so every time I'd tried to get into Reload I'd eventually run out of steam, despite it being much improved. It'll take another playthrough for a plat, so that won't be happening, this year at least.

Also reinstalled CoD WW2 and had a few games in the MP, where I did surprisingly OK. I think I'll attempt the campaign again once I'm done with Persona 3. Pretty sure I'd only started it before losing interest, think it has more chance of sticking this time around

Started Spider-Man 2. I’m about 3 hours in but not feeling it. Saying that not in the mood for any gaming at the mo.

message 4819: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments I'm in the mood for gaming but finding it hard to grab more than an hour or so here and there. When everyone else has gone to bed, I'm too tired for much more than a few events on WRC Generations. That being said, I'm progressing at a decent pace with it.

I'm going to start TLOU Part 1 imminently but trying to decide whether to play it from the off with a collectibles guide or just play it normally and then mop everything up afterwards. I might start with a guide but sack it off if it ruins the experience too much.

I played COD WW2 again this year quite a bit Deck. I replayed the campaign on veteran and sunk a few hours into the MP mode. I bought it on release whenever it came out (2017?) but felt it didn't measure up to WaW so didn't play it much. However, after playing it again, I found it to be fairly decent.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Finished off Persona 3 Reload, enjoyed it, good improvement over P3P. If I'd taken a bit more care early on, probably could have platted it in one playthrough but didn't, so will need a 2nd run. Which I don't mind too much, I'm happy enough replaying at some point, think it's one of those I'd run out of steam if I attempted it straight away.

Reckon I'll make a start on the CoD WW2 campaign tomorrow

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Might have given up on WW2 already. Don't know whether it's just my tv but their colour selection for the QTEs are a lot worse than I remember. It's pretty much guess the button. On top of that, I've been killed pretty ridiculously multiple times early on and don't think I've the patience for it at the minute

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Starting the year as I mean to continue...with a complaint ;)

message 4823: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Were you playing on veteran difficulty Deck? It is pretty tough going in places, especially early on. On the subject of slightly underwhelming but decent CODs, I fancy Infinite Warfare again.

I made a start on TLOU but only the very beginning. That still packs the same emotional punch after all these years. Hoping to crack on with it later today.

I've done the challenge related trophies on WRC Generations and plodding through a WRC 2 contract in career mode. The road to the plat looks fairly obstacle free but long, with having to do a contract on realistic duration and get to player experience 150. One I'll happily chip away at though.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Laughably, no it was recruit I was playing on. Died on the beach landing a few times before you get medpacks, died on the first QTE a few times because I couldn't make out what button they wanted pressed (reckon my hdr is part of the problem though), and got insta-killed by a couple of grenades I was convinced I was far enough away from . All in the first mission, my will to continue was kia after that was well. Died more on 30 minutes than I would in 30 hours of Dark Souls ;)

message 4825: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Oh dear. Yeah, I'd blame HDR for all of that ;)

I've started TLOU properly now and have decided to play using a collectibles guide. However, I'm almost at the end of the second vid (approaching Bill's town) and I realise I've already missed an optional conversation. Can only blame myself really, although the cut of video wasn't the best.

I've a feeling I'll be making full use of chapter select once I'm done.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Think I've committed to platting Persona 3 Reload....might give CoD WW2 another chance in 80 hours time ;)

message 4827: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments The PS+ Essential games for Jan are a bit disappointing again. I might try NFS Hot Pursuit Remastered but not sure about the other two.

Even for free, I'm not sure I want to even try Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Thought the PS+ games for January were alright, been worse months...if I didn't already own them all

message 4829: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments I've seen Suicide Squad on too many end of year 'Worst Games of 2024' vids on YT. NFS is OK and The Stanley Parable is apparently one of the better walking sims but with the headline game, its almost an insult.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments You've just convinced me to go back and try Suicide Squad again ;) From what I remember playing, it was a bit bland but not terrible. The Stanley Parable I enjoyed but it has one of the worst trophies in existence - play all day on a Tuesday or something like that. Think you can cheese it on PC but didn't find a way around it on PS, you seemingly literally have to have it on for the 24 hours

message 4831: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments I saw a vid that reviews the trophy difficulty of PS+ games and that trophy was mentioned. I think there is a way to cheese it but he didn't go into details. Probably messing about with your PS5's internal clock.

Same with the ridiculous trophy - don't play the game for 10 years.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Have a bad feeling I've made a mess of the Persona 3 Reload plat attempt. Might be OK, but think I'll be just short of maxing out all the social links for the final trophy. I'll give it a bit longer, but if it's not looking good, I'll take that as a sign to take a break from it and replay at some other point.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments As suspected, I've messed the plat attempt up...but as also expected...reckon I'm going to be stubborn and head straight into a 3rd playthough once I'm done with the 2nd

message 4834: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments I need to have one big final recruiting drive, then it's off to face the big bad in Cult of the Lamb. Second attempt at the game went much better than the first. First attempt ended with corpses and bio waste absolutely everywhere. Yes - it was kind of a kool-aid incident. Very strange things can happen in this game...

message 4835: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Morning all. I've been plodding along quite nicely on WRC Generations having started a season in WRC itself now.

I had been neglecting TLOU a little but I've got back on track with that again and I'm getting towards the end of Bill's town now. Following a collectibles guide isn't taking too much shine off this and I've managed not to miss anything else...yet.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Every time I try to replay TLoU I lose interest after a few hours. Think it's always going to be one of those "once was enough" games for me.

message 4837: by Equinox80 (last edited Jan 06, 2025 07:12AM) (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments I was feeling like that a bit but I've got more into it. I've only ever played it twice, both times on PS3. Once on release in 2013 and then again approx 2016/2017 to get collectibles (only to make my 4% trophy completion slightly less shameful). I never tried to get the plat on PS3 as playing the harder difficulties would have ruined it for me and I didn't like the MP enough to put in the required time. Its why I gave the PS4 remaster a miss too.

I'm getting an urge to watch the HBO show again.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Decided I'm going to try and plat The Stanley Parable, despite the daft trophies. Only had the one left (the Tuesday one), read it was cumulative, so a couple of hours every Tuesday for a few weeks and it should be done

message 4839: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Im thinking of giving Battlefield 1 a go. Not sure why.

Phil, psn: p4tiny | 197 comments I'm getting into late game Assassin's Creed Odyssey now. Level 52, what's left (which I am going to do):

defeat Medusa, seal off Atlantis and then finish that Odyssey questline.
beat the fifth tier at the arena.
the rest of the main Odyssey questline featuring main characters mum.

Not going to bother with some of the other oustanding quests like Spartan/Athenian Polemarch seals, or Xenia's treasure map.

Have put about 100hrs in so far - I estimate about another 10. There won't be any plat attempt, I'm nowhere near that in terms of trophies, but what a game! Not quite as good as the Horizon games (imo) but close (I compare to the Horizon games because it's in a very similar vein), but definitely one of the best games I have ever played. Amazing world created by Ubisoft.

message 4841: by Equinox80 (last edited Jan 08, 2025 06:07AM) (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments The get to Player Experience level 150 trophy on WRC Generations is looking like it might be a Grid type grind.

I'm about 2/3 through my 3rd contract and I'm at level 62. I've got some other stuff to do like a full contract on realistic length and a contract in Seasons Mode, but once I've done all that I doubt I'll be much further along than level 80-85.

message 4842: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments The final boss in Cult of the Lamb was really well done. A multi-stage boss that was challenging, fun, and felt like a fitting end to the game. Then it opens up NG+ immediately. I had a great time with it, but after several weeks and dozens of hours it was time for something else.

..jumped into the Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster. I really love this game. The story is one of the all time greats in video games period. Such a memorable cast of characters. Anyway, next time I pick it up I'm bound for the Opera House.

Hi all. First day back at work for me :-(. So over the last week or so I've been playing Spiderman 2, on and off. About 2/3rds of the way through the campaign. So far it's OK - much like the first game really but I think the campaign is better, feels a bit more engaging for some reason. However, I have had some bugs which is suprising. One mission wouldn't progress - the one when you're chasing the 'lizard monster' in the water around an island. I took the jet skis down but nothing else would happen, constantly chasing. Went back to a checkpoint and then after killing the same enemies on jet skis it then went into a cut-scene. And then some occasional really bad performance - like 5fps for several seconds but it's only happened twice. It's a decent game but much like the first, for me at least, don't understand the hype - good but not great. Graphics though - very very nice on the Pro.

Hi everyone!!

Hawppy new year for you all (kinda late).

Im still playing Mass effect 3 (im near the end). Im 149 hrs in the Trilogy so i desperately need to play a new game.
I´ve been having a HUGE itch for a game called Graven.
Been watching reviews and it seems it somewhat a spiritual sucessor to Hexen which is one of my all time favourites.

I´ll think i´ll haw it tonight.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I've not hawed a game since 2024...is that a record? ;)

Equinox80 | 665 comments You must be suffering withdrawal symptoms by now Deck.

I nearly bought Jedi Survivor and Hogwarts Legacy but whilst I definitely want to play them at some point, I'm not feeling either atm.

I'm reaching the end of Pittsburgh in TLOU and have finished the WRC season on Generations. Both games ticking along nicely.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments You couldn't pay me to watch Harry Potter, yet enjoyed Hogwarts Legacy, wouldn't say it's anywhere near special but nothing to complain about either, but did surprise a little. Jedi Survivor....i did like Fallen Order and Survivor really is more of the same, but tried a few times now and just can't seem to stick with it. One I'll keep trying to get stuck into and hope it clicks

And hawing withdrawal symptoms...could just be the time of year and there's nothing new worth looking at, and I already own half of what's on sale, but nowt is tempting me. Keep having a look at sales and the store, but pretty much everything I'd be half tempted by, I've probably got something similar in the collection half played or barely touched. Think I'm gonna stick with the no wasteful hawing and only pick something up when I'm sure I'm going to play it for more than 5 minutes.....

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Definitely won't take a Glass recommendation after the Andromeda is a masterpiece thing ;)

Equinox80 | 665 comments No, he lost all credibility with that recommendation ;)

I'm a bit tempted by the new Sniper Elite game but not sure having not played SE5.

I'm also quite interested in that Atomfall game, made by the same studio as SE (Rebellion). There's a new 7 minute gameplay vid out today although I've not seen it yet. The setting appeals the most.
