What have you been playing: before the forum was deleted?

The Thing remastered is a must haw for me.
Somehow i never actually played it before.
Im also glad Indi is getting good reviews.
Its nice to see a AAA game succeed for a change.
Might try it out this weekend.

And might have hawed The Thing

I tried My first gran turismo. I gave up on the third music trial. Terrible drawn out concept and the driving. I know it’s supposed to be a sim but it’s so wooden, like driving a plank of wood. Not for me.

Gave that UFL game a quick go, no worse than FIFA or FC but not planning on putting any time into it
Completed Star Wars Outlaws. It was alright. I’d say pretty good but seen and done it all before in other open world games. I think the plus points: its combat is enjoyable, stealth is fine, good SW nostalgia, variety of locations. Take or leave the space combat - basically ok. The negative points: the resolution is awful even on a Pro, some really annoying and not very enjoyable boss fights (Benny Hill comes to mind, especially the final boss fight which was a long drawn out Benny Hill stealth level) and the world environments albeit look alright feel lacking in immersion. Defo worth a play at the right price. It’s enjoyable without being anything special. 7/10 on the r-score-o-meter.

The pacing is a bit off imo, the first half of the game, there's a lot of repetitive side activities you get with open world games, with more story focused ones mostly at the end. Could have done with some of the character stories starting a bit earlier in the game. But that and the vehicle handling are about my only complaints 80 hours in

Downloaded Indiana Jones. Probably won’t start it until Thursday but very much looking forward to it.
Yea Mirage I liked. I don’t want a 50-80 hour AC game and Mirage suited me well.

Graphics, handling, audio - none of it any better than GT Sport running on ps5 to my eyes. But I am loving the prospect of racing around Deep Forest Raceway and Trial Mountain though, which were criminally missing from GT Sport.

More sneaky, sneaky, stabby, stabby on AC Mirage last night. Its good how you can do different bits of the story when you want and that's mainly what I'm concentrating on atm. Will do all the location 100% mop ups afterwards.

Managed to shave a couple of hundredth's off my time for going around a corner, but still almost a tenth off the gold time!! Did get gold in the next bit though - an even tighter corner in a family van type car.

It's taken me quite a few tries since it was first released before it finally clicked, but this time, when it did, really enjoyed it
Played the Space Marine 2 PS5 Pro patch and it does look better. Sharper than it was and the frame rate seems decent in speed mode as compared to before which was awful.
Started Indiana Jones. So far so good. Feels like you’re playing as Indy. Good and varied environments, light puzzles, lots of sneaking and fist fights. No complaints so far. Very polished too, a bit like a Sony game in that sense.

Tried to get back into Atomic Heart there, but the movement annoys me. Walking straight, he's fine, but even the slightest touch of the analogue stick to the side, and your speed plummets. Doesn't sound like a major problem, but it bugs me enough that I've lost interest in continuing.

I'm not sure whether to mightily impressed or concerned ;)
I'll have a look at my wrap up later on. I opened the first email but they've sent it again as they made a bit of a hash at the first attempt.
Most of my time was spent on Helldivers 2 and Space Marine 2 which sounds right. Both brilliant games and equal GOTY for me.
That’s not far off gaming 24 hours a day solid every day for almost half a year. Blimey Deckard. I looked at mine but it’s stopped working again. I think my yearly hours was 347 lol.

I see Witcher 4 has been officially confirmed along with Elden Ring Nightreign, so I reckon a few hours will be stuck into them in 2025....and of course, it's got me tempted to replay Witcher 3 and Elden Ring

The new IP from Naughty Dog looks interesting.
It looks like Helldivers 2 is getting a huge expansion too. If they add new trophies, I'll rejoin the fight for democracy.
I’m further into Indiana Jones. They really have nailed it. The characters, story, world, puzzles, game play all feels like you’re playing in an interactive movie. Can’t fault it in terms of every aspect feeling like Indiana Jones. The cutscenes are very well done and the dungeon areas like a proper adventure. The only thing that felt off at first was the stealth not having a takedown but I understand that avoiding detection or picking your fights suits Indiana Jones better than takedowns.

I still somehow managed 25 plats in that meagre time, although I imagine there are a few grubs as I don't recall knocking 2 decent games out per month.
Sorry for me 274 hours. Finally have access again to my wrap up. I definitely game less than my height of the 360/PS3 era but still get through a game a month probably and still play multiplayer regularly.

I reckon half my time was spent trying to decide what's next...and rhe other half spent looking at the store trying to decide what's next

I've been playing more AC Mirage and still really like it. Ubisoft get a lot of stick but I think they've done a good job with this game. I've got a few annoying sounding trophies left but hopefully they aren't too bad and I might be able to squeeze one more plat out of 2024.

I enjoyed Mirage. I played Origins last year and Mirage this year - Origins was better but Mirage was just fine.
Now I'm completely sucked in by Odyssey. 20+ hours in, only level 18 (not complaining) loads to do, loads to see, hunting cultists, doing conquest battles, upgrade the spear, upgrade the ship, upgrade a couple of bits of armour or weapons after almost every encounter...love it all!
Haven't bothered with some of the mechanics like engravings - i'm swapping out to new more powerful weapons/armour so often i don't see the point.
But yeah, what an amazing set of games Ubi have put out with Origins/Odyssey (and by all accounts Valhalla too) and then carried it on with Mirage. Makes you wonder why it takes other studios 12 years to make 1 game?

Running around in the desert for an or more until I hallucinate raining scarabs isn't my idea of fun. I'd probably enjoy Origins/Odyssey/Valhalla more if I wasn't a trophy hunter but as it is, clearing all those '?' side quests just felt like busy work.

Ah now that's the thing - i'm not a trophy hunter. Sure i'll go for a plat if it's not a grind or if it's natural fun etc. But with games like Origins or Odyssey I'm quite happy not uncovering all the ? and not discovering all the star signs/waiting for it to rain scarabs etc. I didn't get near the plat for Mirage either.
I just enjoy the story, the quests, the setting, gameplay etc :)
I loved Origins and Mirage. Phil it’s a big no from me on Valhalla. After 30 hours repeating the same clear the map chore and not even half way through the campaign - having focused on it - I gave up. Massive chore of a game.

I'm not planning on Valhalla. It (the setting mainly) just doesn't appeal to me. After Origins and Odyssey i will have had enough of the huge RPG AC games, and have the newly patched up 4K60fps Syndicate as my go-to AC fix :)

Was briefly tempted by SW Outlaws for £45, Dead Rising Remaster and even Black Ops 6, but know I'd not stick with any of those and it'd be a complete waste

Amazing almost impossible to put down loot-athon, quests coming out of everywhere, so much to see and do!
We, on the other hand, have a great team with a coach that doenst have a clue what he´s doing...
