Error | 408 comments I also played a bunch of Hades. The voice acting and art direction in that game are second to none. Incredible stuff, truly. I, however, only managed clear the boss of the third zone once. I just finally did that last night before bed. Deckard is just on a whole different level. I imagine I keep playing Hades until I finish it.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Definitely wouldn't say I'm on another level - took 23 attempts before I finally cleared it the first time. You do die a lot to begin with but eventually you get to a point where, unless you've bad luck with boons etc, it's a more comfortable.

AlienGirl54 | 46 comments Hi guys
Still playing Death Stranding. Intrigued by the story but the delivery missions are getting a bit samey and I'm starting to get bored. I suspect I won't finish this one and am already looking for something else to play.

Hope you are all ok . I only have next week left of going in to the office on one day, then I have to start going in two days a week. I suppose I should be grateful that it's only two days, but I can see them raising that in the future to at least three - I will not be a happy bunny!

AG x

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I loved Death Stranding but yeah, the middle chapters did drag on a bit gameplay wise. It does pick up though and a lot more goes on in the last third of the game

Hi all, is the PS phone app broken for anyone else? It hasn't updated games played and trophy info for ages and I can't access the store to look at the new sale.

There looks to be a few games I might consider but need to be able to see the price. The blog used to show this but not these days.

message 406: by DeckardCain's Sandals (last edited Aug 18, 2021 06:44AM) (new)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Can't say I use the app but the 2 sales aren't doing much for me - nothing in the indies and even less in the sub 20 one. Could always pick up My Name is Mayo for 59p but no-one in their right mind would do that, right? ;)

Have noticed this past year that PS aren't always great with the trophy lists though. Quite a few new games I've played have had trophies pop but wouldn't let me look at the full list. Big titles are usually fine, but some smaller ones there are times you have to wait a week before you can see what they are

message 407: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments Deckard - Did you use the God mode in Hades? I just discovered what that was reading about the game yesterday. I've only made to the last zone once in 50 attempts, so yes...you're on a different level. At least from me.

message 408: by DeckardCain's Sandals (last edited Aug 18, 2021 07:51AM) (new)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Yes, forgot to say that, I switched to God mode early on (as relaxing while gaming is preferable to pulling my hair out), which helps, but it's still pretty tricky at times (for me anyway).

message 409: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments It's a really interesting way to handle difficulty: As you continue to die you take less and less damage from enemies over time. It starts at 20% and goes up to 80% if I remember correctly. Apparently you can turn it on and off at any time during a run too.

I haven't touched it so I'm getting the game's unmitigated brutality. And yes, the difficulty is brutal. I think I might start up a new save file and turn it on right from the start to see how much easier the game becomes for me.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Yeah, each time you die it adds 2% damage resistance up to a maximum of 80 (and I've died enough to hit that mark and have still managed to die since). If they hadn't included that I'd have given up long ago and probably wouldn't be enjoying it half as much

message 411: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments I can tell you that beating Thesius and Minotaur felt like quite an accomplishment. I had to start reading up on the game because it seems like everyone beats the game from raving about it and here I was 50 runs in barely reaching the last level. I did start up a new file last night. Only did three runs but managed to make it to the Hydra on that third run.

After The Ascent, and now Hades, I'm really in the mood for a game in which I won't die repeatedly. Have to look through the library for a nice point and click or something.

message 412: by DeckardCain's Sandals (last edited Aug 19, 2021 07:12AM) (new)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Similar here, I've it in my head I want to plat Hades, so was thinking after that I'm gonna need something a bit more relaxing next. Not many trophies left to go but have a feeling it's going to take a while. Not one I'll be platting on PS4 & 5, I'm thinking once will be an accomplishment.

Enjoying it though, god mode is still pretty challenging, especially when you get to the point you can add modifiers to increase the difficulty

message 413: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments I really can't say enough about how great the voice acting and the way they weave narrative into a rogue-like are. They've raised the bar, imo.

message 414: by DeckardCain's Sandals (last edited Aug 20, 2021 04:03AM) (new)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments It's definitely more impressive than I thought it would be. Honestly didn't expect I'd put putting the hours into it that I. Could have made a couple of things a bit clearer but that's probably my only complaint. Well, that and those damn satyrs

Edit: and I've hit the 50 mark in clearances and still haven't done enough for the epilogue. Like the game but it's a bit too drawn out

message 415: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm still flitting about with my gaming. Really disappointed with the side mission glitch on BL3 as I was enjoying clearing the DLC trophies.

I've moved on for now and decided I might try and plat Unravel. I played it back in 2017 and enjoyed it but now it looks ripe for platting. The only real difficult trophy will be doing all levels with no deaths but is probably doable with some patience.

Hi all. Not been gaming much in the last week. After finishing The Ascent I tried Art of Rally - not for me so binned it off pretty quick - and then I tried the Back4Blood beta. Back4Blood was ok. Defo has that Left4Dead DNA and it feels like a sequel in all but name. It looks good graphically but I didn’t like the gun mechanics - felt somewhat off to me - and the Team Bot AI is non-existent. I died, the bots are right next to me and they did nothing. It’s a beta so I hope it’ll improve. It defo has potential if they fix a few things. I just love the level design progression in left4dead/Back4Blood.

And then in the last couple of days thought I’d try the Quake Remaster on Game Pass not expecting it to grab me. Absolutely love it. Don’t know why but it’s really grabbed me. Old school with nothing changed from the original but a very well designed game even today. Lots of fun and I like the level design, mild puzzles and the enemy which are more puzzle like than an FPS challenge.

I have 12 Minutes and Recompile downloaded too but I expect I’ll finish Quake first and then go straight onto Psychonauts 2 as it’s out this week on Games Pass.

message 417: by [deleted user] (new)

Ah thanks for reminding me about Art of Rally. That was on my radar at one point but then I lost track of everything. Will give it a look.

I didn’t rate it to be honest but perhaps it’s not for me rather than it being a bad game.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I've just the one trophy left in Hades but since it requires a little skill/patience/luck I'm taking a temporary break before attempting it. It's one of those I know is possible, but if I try and force it I'll just keep messing it up and get a bit frustrated. So I'll give it a go every few days and one day I should get lucky. Just have to clear 15 rooms of enemies without getting hit in one run to get Thanatos' item up to 30%. 14 rooms I've done a few times and had a few areas in those runs where a daft mistake cost me so I know it's doable.

Played a bit of Ghost of Tsushima on PS5 and can't say I've really noticed a difference between it and the PS4 version but happy enough to replay it.

Also played 2 of possibly the most pointless games every created - My Name is Mayo and Car Destruction Clicker. While playing My Name is Mayo, during the 10,000 clicks, for the first time ever while playing a game I found myself thinking my time could be better spent. Still platted it though lol. I've the 2nd game but wont be playing it for a long time/ever. And at the end of the day who am I to judge, I've now got 8 plats related to the 4 Sakura Succubus games ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I played a wee bit of Quake too and it's pretty smooth for a game its age

message 421: by [deleted user] (new)

Deck, I played and platted Mr Massagy last night. From the makers of Mayo so gives you some idea of the quality of it.

Played a bit more Unravel and Enslaved OttW and got them both slightly nearer being platted. Lengthy trophies left for each though.

message 422: by Ron (new)

Ron | 78 comments Was really looking forward to 12 minutes but it's extremely frustrating....good idea executed badly. i want to love it but it's driving me nuts so I just end up turning it off and coming back later.

I was put off 12 Minutes by the Eurogamer review. Made it seem like a game with good voice acting and story but very very frustrating and the reward of progressing the story is very slow. I probably won’t play it.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Ping! Hades PS5. The Thorn of Thanatos trophy popped quicker than I expected. Pretty happy with that plat, definitely earned it. Still enjoying the gameplay loop, so made a start on the PS4 version. Not planning on platting it too at the minute but will play it alongside something. Good wee game, if a bit tough at times.

Wasn't planning on picking up Aliens Fireteam Elite but £35 for a new game isn't bad these days. I've heard it's not a great Alien game but a solid enough shooter so maybe worth a punt.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Equinox80 wrote: "Deck, I played and platted Mr Massagy last night. From the makers of Mayo so gives you some idea of the quality of it.

Mental note - avoid Mr Massagy. Mayo is Andromeda level of bad ;)

message 426: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm interested in the new Aliens game. More my thing than the horror of Isolation. Seen a few reviews which say it's rough round the edges but looks OK to me for a budget game.

message 427: by DeckardCain's Sandals (last edited Aug 24, 2021 04:37AM) (new)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I just did part of the first mission in Aliens: FE and yeah a wee bit rough around the edges but not completely terrible. Not the greatest but I think there's fun to be had in there. Then again I was one of the few who got enjoyment out of Colonial Marines. Can't say it has much of an Alien feel so far though despite all the xenos

message 428: by hancock by Sega™ (last edited Aug 24, 2021 05:55AM) (new)

hancock by Sega™ | 8 comments I still don’t understand all the hype over Aliens: Isolation. A good game to be sure but something about it just didn’t quite click for me, for some reason. Colonial Marines was also good (and underrated) imo but I actually liked the power loader statue that came in the collector’s edition most of all. Now that alone, was more than worth the cost of the game.

message 429: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm not sure I'd go as far as to say Colonial Marines was good but it wasn't as bad as ME Andromeda for example.

It could have been so much better though which was the frustration.

message 430: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments Started a new profile on Hades with God mode turned on. Took 20 attempts to escape. I've escaped half a dozen times now...this game sure drags out it's end game. Also the achievement tracked glitched out on me, so I'm sitting at 40/1000 gamerscore. I've had this happen a few times in the last year, and it seems tied to Game Pass games. It's a huge bummer, honestly, even though achievements really shouldn't be that important.

Art of Rally was really quite something. I played for a while and decided that the game was more interested in providing me with a history lesson than providing engaging game play. Occasionally you are treated to a beautiful vista that almost makes you want to keep playing though. The racing just felt a bit tedious to me. All time trials, no other racers.

message 431: by [deleted user] (new)

"All time trials, no other racers."

That is rallying to be fair :P

I can't see this on PlayStation. Is it an Xbox exclusive, timed or full?

message 432: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks Adam. I had a look on the trophy site I use. There's a PS4 listing but nothing behind it, no trophy list or release date etc. Weird it's out everywhere else except PS. I'm hoping it plays like WRC Powerslide. That was a top down rally game and felt intuitive.

message 433: by DeckardCain's Sandals (last edited Aug 24, 2021 11:57PM) (new)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Played a bit more of Aliens: FE and have mixed feelings about it. At times I'm definitely having fun, the gunplay is mostly solid and it can be pretty tense fighting through waves of xenos and synths. But at times it just seems a bit badly designed. The very end of the first campaign in particular is just terrible. I don't know whether they want you to fight through or just hoof it (think it's the latter) but either way it's a bit of a shitshow. A few graphical glitches too but nothing major. Still if you pick it up cheap and don't expect a lot from it, it can be enjoyable

message 434: by Ron (last edited Aug 25, 2021 05:16AM) (new)

Ron | 78 comments Once I got past the stagnant hurdle in 12 Minutes it grabbed me again but holy hell the story is fucked up. I did have to very cautiously look online to progress which isn't great. It did another annoying thing later, as it ended, and reset my progress unexpectedly. I guess it's good that, despite this, I started again to see the other outcomes which are possible.

Finished the remastered Quake - the original campaign. Really good and enjoyable. I’ve only got the expansions to do. Think I’ll give Psychonauts 2 a go first.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Half tempted by Psychonauts 2 myself but not sure that stretches to £50. Do generally like Tim Schafer games though, probably give it a go when it's cheaper.

R(ob) (r_uk) | 885 comments Mod
Yea me neither but for free on game pass I'll try it. ACG raves about it and from what I've seen it looks graphically amazing artwork wise. And apparently the platforming is good. Looks bat shit crazy too which I like the look of.

message 438: by DeckardCain's Sandals (last edited Aug 27, 2021 02:23AM) (new)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I'm half considering picking up a Series X. I stuck my vanilla xbone on the other week and there did look like a few games that don't seem to be on PS. I'll probably hang off until the first price drop but I'm definitely considering dual console again this gen, despite thinking it was largely pointless last one.

3/4 of the way through Aliens: Fireteam Elite and it's not the worst game I've played. If I compare it to a similar budget movie game like Terminator Resistance - gameplay wise it's generally better but definitely doesn't get the feel of the movies as well as TR. And possibly a bit more fun (apart from the end of the first campaign).

Been jumping between that and Ghost of Tsushima (PS5) (and a little Date A Live ;)). Enjoying them still but none of them gripping me enough to stick and have found myself continuing with a Hades PS4 run through. Thinking I'll do the usual of sticking Destiny 2 back on again after an expansion announcement too.

message 439: by Ron (new)

Ron | 78 comments I've just finished Psychonauts on PS4 and despite some frustrations, mainly due to its age, it was great. I'm going to play the PSVR Rhombus of Ruin before getting to the proper sequel but hopes are high. Double Fine generally produce some top quality stuff.

Hi everyone

Back from vacations.
How you all been doin?

First thing i did when i came back was spending 70 eur on the current sales. haha

Bought Quake (which is still amazing), Borderlands 2 VR, Arizona Sunshine, Get Even, Rage 2 and some other i cant remember.

Finished Syberia 1 and almost finished 2 during the vacations.

Welcome back Glass. Hope you had a good vacation. I’ve just had a month off myself - a sabbatical which I get every four years. Managed to keep myself busy most of the time. Back to work on Wednesday - which will be a shock after a month off. Didn’t go anywhere but enjoyed the break from work. I’ve been playing Psychonauts 2 which is very good. The artwork is amazing and the platforming is good albeit sometimes challenging. Just got to a part where I have to prepare some food dishes which is out staying its welcome a tad. Good game however but has one or two annoyances - this mission I’m doing and the combat could be better. And the world has just expanded so there is quite a bit of exploration even though the campaign is linear. A really good game though - which matches up with 8/10 reviews it’s getting,

message 442: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments Hope you had a great vacation Glass.

I played the introductory mission of Psychonauts 2. I'm debating if playing through the game is going to pay off enough with madcap zaniness and striking visuals. I think it might. Honestly, the game did not feel very good to play imo.

Temped to start up the Myst remake/re-release. I haven't played it since it actually released back in the 90's. I'm very much in need of game that doesn't involve killing or dying repeatedly, and this seems like a good fit.

Progressed some more on Psychonauts 2. Finally got through the ‘cookoff missions’ and then the ‘cookoff’ boss fight which was just as frustrating. The game doesn’t explain things very well at times which sometimes makes it frustrating - no more so than the cookoff mission. Then the following two missions are superb - completely different and fun. I’m over half way through so hopefully I’ll complete this game now.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Ping! Hades PS4. Wasn't planning on going straight into the PS4 plat attempt but was still enjoying it and next thing I knew it was done. Hades has been my go to game for the past few weeks so now that it's done and dusted on PS4 & 5 I'm not sure what I fancy. It was plat number 150 too so I'm kind of glad that landmark isn't one of the dodgy games I often play. Thoroughly enjoyed it, though I think they should have had the god-mode as the main game mode and made the normal mode a hardcore one. As it is, it could possibly put people off.

If the new sale on PS isn't half decent, maybe it's finally time to chip away some more at the round the world trophy in Grid....

Hi everyone

Still enjoying a lot of Far Cry 5.
I have 2 regions fully liberated (Faith and Jacob) and im now working of John´s area.
I love the exploration side of this game more then FC3 and 4 due to hoe they handled the icons in the map.
The only downside is the weapons which i think are a bit lackluster. I only used 2 rifles, 2 shotguns and 2 bows in 30 hrs because all the others may look diferent but they are pretty much all the same. The attachments are also the same for all the weapons which makes it a bit boring, imo.
Nonetheless i think this game is really good.

message 446: by [deleted user] (new)

Congrats on your double Hades ping Deck.

I've been mopping up tech orbs on Enslaved but it's a real ball ache. I followed a guide for one of the chapters and when I'd finished it was showing as 98%.

I'll have to go back but there are two open areas that are awkward to navigate and then a timed section at the end where you're moving so fast it hard to see anything.

Going to do the other 2 more linear levels I need to do and then go back to this troublesome level 9.

There have been lots of Far Cry 6 game play vids on you tube recently so I've been watching them. It looks like they've ramped up the 'daftness' somewhat - not in a bad way. What with a rocket back-pack to burn enemy that surround you and a raving mad cockerel side-kick. And the weapons look a lot more varied - weapons seem very customisable to the point they're a bit crazy looking too. Otherwise it looks like more Far Cry. The only thing I didn't like the look of is that enemy have health bars and I noticed one or two 'standard' looking enemy took more than a clip to kill which to me is f'ing annoying and unrealistic. And weapon choice seems very important - choosing the right bullet type for the job kind-a-thing. I'll defo play it - it looks fun but I truly hope enemies are not bullet sponges. Enemy don't appear to have levels.

Ping! Enslaved: Odyssey to the West.

A bit of a hidden gem from the PS3/360 era.

Also a plat over a decade in the making. I unlocked the first trophy for it on 26th Feb 2011! I like to take my time with some games ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments 10 years for a plat....almost makes Grid sound doable ;) Congrats on that one.

Speaking of Grid, I did reinstall and had about 3 races yesterday on max race length, roughly did 100 miles but have lost the will to live again. That trophy is definitely beyond me. Did enjoy the few races but knowing I hardly made a dent in the total is a bit deflating.

Think I might pick up WRC 10 instead, I'd normally wait and pick up cheap but do fancy a bit of racing at the minute. Enjoyed 9 but it's a bit of a toss of a coin as to whether I day 1 the new one.

message 450: by [deleted user] (new)

Cheers Deck, quite proud of this plat.

If you just do maybe 3 or 4 races a day on Grid you'll really start making a dent.

Check the mileage only at the end of the week as it is a bit soul destroying checking each day where its hardly budged.
