Phil, psn: p4tiny | 197 comments Finished Jedi Survivor last night (and had an absolute blast with it. No plat attempt, I was miles off that, but did put 32 hours in so had my fill of it. Fantastic fun though).

Thought after that I'd finally blast through Astro's Playroom for a bit of a palette cleanser and relatively easy plat, but I quickly ditched it and uninstalled as for me personally it's far too childish, too much like an kiddy Nintendo game (albeit with good graphics etc.) Nah.

Have gone back to Crysis 2 remastered which I had previously started and am about half way through. I completed Crysis 2 on ps3 back in 2011 but am having a blast again with the remastered trilogy - ps4 games but patched to run at 60fps on ps5 and honestly don't feel too old (well Crysis 1 kinda did but was still good).

Error | 408 comments Crysis trilogy is one I never played for some reason, despite hearing mostly great things. I should keep a look out for a good deal on the bundle.

I enjoyed Crysis trilogy back in the day. I’ve never considered replaying it. The first game though really surprised me with the story and environments not knowing much about the game beforehand and was somewhat surreal. Loved the second game too and it had pretty decent multiplayer. The third game was the weakest but still very good.

I’m going to use Jedi Survivor as a measure of the power improvement of the PS5 Pro when I get it as that game was f’ing awful in performance mode when I played it. Blurry fuzzy stuttering mess but a great game.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Think i need a break from my break. Managed to get the 30 sunlight medals for the Heirs of the Sun covenant in DS2, but between the drop rate and regular invasions, was not a load of fun. Got the Bell Keepers rank up as well, so think the rest of the sorceries etc can be bought in NG++.

Metal Hellsinger VR, i think is out today...tempted.

Crisis, I enjoyed replaying the first game but wasn't having as much fun with 2, still decent but was finding it harder to get in to. Enjoyed it a lot more when it was first out.

message 4406: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments I though Metal Hellsinger was great fun, can only be better in VR!

Maybe I'll just dip my toe in with the remaster of Crysis and skip the sequels...

message 4407: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments I keep meaning to try Metal Hellsinger.

I've finally made a start on Space Marine 2 and liking it so far. Looks good and runs smooth (I've chosen the speed option over quality). Only played the campaign so far and will just stick with that and then try the other modes afterwards.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Got as far as Dragon Aerie in DS2, and I'm beginning to hate that place. Narrow paths, with suicide bombers around every corner and not only that, they would have to be corrosive and break your equipment in no time. It'll be fine once I pin down all their locations, but until then, it looks like being one of the more annoying areas.

And gave Metal Hellsinger VR a quick go, and it's not bad, still fun, but it weirdly doesn't add much to the flat version. If anything, it makes it feel a bit slower paced, though they might have done that in case of motion sickness.

Glassmoon - The Benny Hill of Plats | 779 comments Mod
Hi all

Going back to Crysis.
I loved the first one, but ended up putting Crysis 2 on hold midway through when it was released. Started playing it again with this new remastered and ended up putting it on hold again.
There´s something in that game that just doenst grab me.

Btw, Serious Sam Collection is at 5 eur on the PS store.
Does anyone recomend it? its one of those franschises that i ended up never playing.

Also, Mass Effec 1 is still amazing!!

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I'd picked up the Serious Sam Collection after having a blast playing Serious Sam 4.....but didn't play much of it, so can't really say. 4 was fun, even if it did feel like a bit of a cheap Duke Nukem clone

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Just added another 13 miles onto the Around the World trophy in Grid lol. Hasn't completely installed so can't check the total mileage. Have a feeling once I do, it'll be delete delete delete

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Grid mileage not quite as bad as I'd feared....but still not great. Just over halfway on the PS5 save, if I'd carried over the PS4 progress...I'd still be a few thousand miles short ;) At this rate I'll have the plat by the time they announce the PS7 Pro Slim Elite

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Going back to the games played list the other day, and Glass's 7'itis...From memory (so likely about as accurate as a horoscope) he gave Andromeda an 8/10 initially before downgrading it to 7.5. I know I've thought this year has been pretty bad, but it shows you there's always someone else worse off ;)

Your luck colour is blue

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments A year in which nothing you play is any better than Andromeda...sounds like a true nightmare.
Almost as bad as the one R had where he was head of the Xbox marketing department, and and to come up with a name for the Series X successor by noon, or the reoccurring one Equinox has of the Indianapolis Oval where the lap counter is permanently stuck on 49 out of 50....Seriously R if you want that bonus l, you'll have to do much better than Xbox 2, we realise you are new to the post but we expect much better.

The number of the day is 2

If I were head of Xbox marketing the successor to Xbox series X would be Xbox 720. It would fly off the shelves. Now I’m getting back to sipping a cold beverage next to my private pool whilst the missus swims bikini clad. What all Xbox execs do after a year of great ideas.

Oh and I nearly forgot to mention. The hotel suite toilet has an arse jet wash. Only top execs get one of those. Feeling squeaky and relaxed.

message 4416: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Haha Deck. I did have a similar dream. I did get anxious as I approached the end thinking the trophy might glitch and hours and hours of driving around an oval might all be for nought.

I finished the campaign for Space Marine 2 last night. I enjoyed it although its not particularly long. I then tried one of the PvE missions which was very much like the campaign. Good stuff but I'm not sure why they've split these missions off from the main campaign given that can be played in coop. I suppose they're able to say their game has 3 game modes, instead of 2.

I tried one game of the MP. This kind of thing really isn't my cup of tea and I'm not very good at it. It was OK for what it is but not sure I want to put the time in to git gud enough to get that 'Merciless' trophy (5 kill streak). Its something I'll keep a hand in on those nights when I cba to get into anything narrative driven and can just play a few matches here and there.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Hmm 720 you say...it has its appeal. Twice as good as the 360 and a whopping 720 times One, plus it has today's lucky number of 2. Still think it could use a little work though, maybe stick a W in there somewhere.

And surely an Xbox execs answer would be something along these lines - don't bother me with such trifles, the A.I. is perfectly capable of deciding such things for us

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I'm holding off on continuing Space Marine 2 until the Pro, don't expect much/any difference but thats the plan. Are there many other annoying fights like the neuro'wotsit one?

And Grid...if I drive 100 miles a day. it'll take me a mere 4 months...

Be wary of rogue takeaways on the 12th of the month

message 4419: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments There are a few annoying bits and boss fights in SM2 but nothing too bad, on regular difficulty at least.

I can't remember the neuro-whatsit tbh. The only bit I had to retry a couple of times was quite early on where you have to shoot flying enemies of some antenna.

I'd not heard good things about the friendly AI but apart from only one time, they always came to revive me when needed. This had possibly been improved in a patch though.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Maybe it was just bugged with me. It was a floating boss type who just kept spamming a wave that kept knocking you down and a bullet sponge to boot. Wouldn't say it was difficult, just pretty annoying

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Had a quick check (not in depth) and the neurothrope seems not exactly hated but not popular either

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Oh dear, oh dear....

Yeah I did something daft like picked up Until Dawn Remastered. And Oh dear, oh dear...it looks great and will be interested to see what difference the "PS5 Enhanced" makes....but it's even more clunkier than before. I'd recommend waiting till it's cheap or on PS+

Your power word of the day is "clunkier"....Think that's enough Mystic Deckard for the day ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments And oh dear, oh dear framerate could be better. Hope they rectify that with the Pro but they'll probably concentrate on everybody's favourite sitcom character Ray Tracing

message 4424: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Ah yes the neuro-thingymabob. Yeah that was annoying. That blast wave thing can be avoided if you move as far away as possible and eventually he'll stop doing that. You can shoot red cannister near him to distrupt him but there are enough for each attack. It is the poorest boss fight in the game for sure. There are a few similar fights but that's the worst of them.

message 4425: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Oh dear, oh dear. The Until Dawn Remaster. Even less people asked for this than the Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster, and no one asked for that either ;)

Why is the PS5 struggling with what was a PS4 game? Is this part of the PS5 Pro marketing campaign. Make everything run like garbage on the standard so everyone upgrades.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Compared to say the Demon Souls Remaster, it really is a poor effort considering Until Dawn has a lot less gameplay, and I reckon area size, it's smaller. I really dont see any reason it shouldn't be smoother. The effort seems to have been put into the cinematics, and even they (to my eye at least) could be better. I like the game (mostly), and it seems generally to be an improvement , but for a PS exclusive, it's probably their worst, especially considering the price

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments To be honest, dont know if its a bit fishy or just the limits of the developers. The Dark Pictures games are probably less detailed but run as well, if not better and they sell those at less than half the price. If it's a deliberate ploy, it makes Sony look bad imo

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Don't get me wrong, it's far from the worst remaster out there, but it really should be significantly better for the price

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Just finished the main story in Dark Souls 2. I'll attempt the dlc and mop up some other stuff before deciding if I'm brave enough to tackle NG+. I reckon I'd be alright for most of it, but can see a few potential headaches.

:-0 it must have received a major patch to make the performance mode look better because I didn't think that at all when I was playing it (in performance mode)...I thought it looked bloody gorgeous tbh and was (2 or 3 micro-stutters aside over 32 hours) silky smooth.

message 4431: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments I've been playing quite a bit of Space Marine 2. Mainly the PvE but dabbled a bit with PvP.

Almost got the elusive 5 kill streak trophy but what would have been my 5th kill escaped with a slither of health left and then I died. So close yet so far. Managed that 4 and quite a few 3 but I think 5 is going to be out of reach for me :(

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Played a wee bit of Diablo IV expansion, and the new character type seems alright. Going to leave it a few weeks before getting stuck in though. There's a wee bit of lag now, so not sure I want to know what it's like later or even the weekend. Plus, if I leave Dark Souls 2 now, I'll likely do something daft like start another new character when I go back

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments And do have a slight itch for Silent Hill 2, but trying to ignore myself

Glassmoon - The Benny Hill of Plats | 779 comments Mod
Hi all

So...this one is not directly to Deck (although it is)...is anyone hawing Silent Hill 2?

Im very inclined. Wasnt expecting such good reviews and opinions.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Probably ;) In fact, I'm surprised by myself that it's not in the cart already. Might pick it up once I'm done with the Dark Souls 2 DLC and attempt NG+ at a later date

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Does look like they nailed the atmosphere of the original game at least

Yea Jedi Survivor soon after launch was a woeful mess. It must have been 600p and constantly stuttering. I’ve not played it since but I will try it on ps5 pro as it’s on the pro patch list and if was some where close to 4k and a solid 60fps it would be bloody gorgeous.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Finished off the first of the dlc's in Dark Souls 2, wee bit of a step up in difficulty but managed it eventually.

Knocked off one of the other trophies that was worrying me slightly. Involved summoning a certain npc for a boss fight 3 times while keeping them alive. Quite a few fights you can summon him for but did he just didn't seem to want to survive.

So the only trophies left now are the sorceries/hexes/miracles/pyromancies ones, which, as long as I can find the few in the remaining dlc, I think I'm on track. After that it'll depend on the few that'll need NG++

Have fun with Fume Knight...I forget which of the DLCs he's in, but he's a monster. All DS2 DLCs are quite difficult but interesting from my memory.

Still plugging away with DA: Inquisition here. I still have tons of content to get through. Just a massive game.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Managed to beat the Fume Knight last night with not too much difficulty. Thought I'd messed up by not keeping enough stakes for the idols, but 3 out of 4 was enough by keeping him away from that side.

His mate upstairs however...Sir Alonne, hits hard, jumps around a lot, and I do very little damage to him. On top of that, I'm not careful enough on the way to fight him, so waste a few of my healing on the way. May have to adjust my approach...or rely on a fluke ;)

From what I can tell, most find it the other way around

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Figured out Sir Alonne eventually. He's pretty much resistant to everything apart from strike type weapons, but even then, attacks from the side or behind do much less damage as well. So lots of standing in front of him, hoping he didn't use the annoying grab attack too much. Just the third dlc to go now

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments And might wait for the PS5 Pro before starting Silent Hill 2 properly. Not done much at all, but early on the framerate chugs along a bit. Could probably ignore it, but may as well wait and see

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I'm glad Frigid Outskirts is an optional area in DS2, with nothing plat attempt related in there. Ridiculous area, spent over ten minutes fighting off the constantly respawning deer, before they decided to throw 4 of them at once. Only tried it once, but there no chance I'm going back. Possibly the worst souls areas there is

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments In 2 minds now. Finished off the last of the Dark Souls 2 dlc and content I've got everything I can trophy related. So now don't know whether to stick with it and make a start on NG+ and NG++, or really take a break from it this time and come back to it later.

Apart from a few irritations, thought the dlc was generally good stuff, and the whole thing has went from least favourite Souls to at least equal to the rest. Well, apart from the weapon durability, having weapons break in the middle of a boss fight ain't much fun ;)

Hello all. After a week on holiday and a loss of internet for the last couple of days I can start gaming again. Over the weekend before my broadband went AWOL I managed to finish The Plucky Squire. It wasn’t a bad game. A bit too cartoonish for me but it had enough about it to keep me engaged. I liked the 3D sections and the puzzles were mostly pretty straightforward but the start stop nature and some of the mini games (the rhythm one in particular) were annoying. Probably a 6.5/10 on the r-score-o-meter.

Next. No idea. I’m not touching Space Marine 2 again until my Pro arrives.

message 4446: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments I've been playing loads of Space Marine 2, switching between the different modes and have been loving it. I need to play 4 more matches of Annihilation in the PvP and then thats all the MP trophies done. I've done all but one campaign related trophy and the one remaining is easy.

That means I've mostly got the PvE Operations mode left to grind. Grind makes it sound like a chore but I really like it. I just mean I'm going to play it a lot to max out one class, gun and melee weapon. I've played with a few people on my friends list and jumped in with randoms. I was lucky to try a high difficulty run last night and was matched with two really high powered guys who essentially escorted me through the level and got me loads of XP and a purple armoury upgrade.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Took a break from Dark Souls 2 and made a start on Metaphor ReFantazio, which I quite like. Very much follows the Persona structure but with some slight changes.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments And I see Darksiders 2 has got a slight PS5 upgrade. Quite liked that one, so may replay at some point

message 4449: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments I saw last night that the Space Marine 2 devs are adding a load of free content including another PvE Operations mission and some PvP stuff.

I think I'm done with the PvP now though having finished 10 matches of Annihilation. I was getting good-ish at it by the end. I may go back if they add anything major to it but I'm focusing on Operations now.

After a few failed attempts, I managed to finish another run on the 2nd highest difficulty and bagged 2 purple armoury upgrades meaning I can continue levelling up my weapons to the next level and add some perks. I've played the 6 available ops to death so great they're adding a new one.

For the Emporer!

Error | 408 comments Hey all - ended up buying Grim Dawn over the weekend. What great fun. I've been eyeing it for a long time and finally decided to pull the trigger. It's an ARPG with a cool plot and questing and like 40 class builds. I started out night blade/soldier at first, dual-wielding swords. Felt like trying out something different and created an inquisitor who dual wields pistols and uses lightning magic. Good fun...recommended.
