DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments And another..Ping! Astro's Playroom. Not a bad change of pace, though didn't really have the patience at times, so got a bit annoyed when I'd missed my jump for the umpteenth time. Not terrible though for free

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Getting a bit fed up with Asphalt Legends Unite now. It's constant attempted money grabbing is starting to grate. They're made multiplayer largely pointless as they've locked most of the rewards behind a MP Pass, which of course is separate from the season pass and daily event pass. I'd probably not mind too much if I'd been able to progress the career, but I've not been able to for about a week because I just can't get one of the cars needed. I think they'd still have been able to rake the cash in if they'd toned it down a bit but it definitely feels like one of the greediest game models I've played

Equinox80 | 666 comments Congrats on those plats Deck. You made short work of that F1. I've never played them but always thought they were pretty long.

This weekend I had an overwhelming urge to replay COD WW2. I bought it on release in 2017 when I was still excited by COD and ended up being disappointed with it. I was comparing it with World at War so it was never really going to shine aside that masterpiece. I played the campaign on veteran difficulty this weekend and apart a couple of sections, it was fairly plain sailing. It was actually better than I remember.

I'm going to knock out a few ultra rare trophies from the campaign before moving on. Definitely won't be going after the plat with all the zombie and MP related stuff.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments The F1 Manager games are as long or as short as you make them. Once you've seen all there is to see in a season, you can largely skip to race results, which speeds things up. Should be able to get through the PS4 version fairly quick skipping from the start

Afternoon all. I've really not been gaming a huge amount recently as I was away for most of last weekend and in all honesty I've been struggling to choose my next game to play. I did download - actually, correction - I think MS might have force downloaded MW3 to my console as I don't remember doing it as I never owned MW2 or 3 on Xbox. Anyway, I have played a bit of MW3 MP on my Series X over the weekend. I did decide on playing the Sam's Story DLC on Metro Exodus and I am about 2/3rds of the way through a 6-7 hour campaign. It's really decent - not played Metro Exodus in years and it's quite an old game now - but its still a really enjoyable game and looks amazing with its current gen upgrades. Once I've completed Sam's Story I'm back to not knowing what to play lol.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments That's something I'd forgotten all about. I'd picked up the dlc for Metro Exodus just before the next gen upgrade when it was on offer...and never got around to it. Maybe a contender for a replay in the near future, as its looking pretty bleak new release wise

Yea I bought the dlc in a sale years ago. I first played the main campaign in 2019, the first dlc in 2022 and the second dlc now in 2024. Still a cracking game. I do have loads of ps plus games I’ve never played but I’ve trawled through them and they don’t appeal. Same for PS Plus extra and games pass games.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Ping! F1 Manager 24 (PS4).

And just one trophy left in Asphalt Legends Unite, which will likely do my head in well before it pops. After that, I might make a start on a Metro Exodus replay and it's dlc

Anyone here going to buy Star Wars Outlaws on release? I’m tempted if nothing more than to have something I’m interested in to play. I could play it on Ubisoft+ on a month subscription but I might buy it instead as then at least I can take my time with it being open world. I’ve been watching game play previews and it does look like it captures Star Wars pretty well. The only thing I didn’t like was the insta-fail stealth if you raise an alarm.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Didn't have much interest in it before, but the mention of insta-fail stealth puts me off completely ;)

Still have to work up the motivation to go back to Jedi Survivor (which I'm really in no hurry to do), so I'll definitely not be picking up Outlaws till it's cheap

I'd normally be the same - Outlaws seems a defo play but buy in a sale - but I'm struggling for a new game. Still got to wait a month saying that.

On the insta fail - it seemed that way in the preview but it also seemed on the face of it quite forgiving. Can't be sure until I play it.

message 4112: by K (new)

K C (kac15) | 17 comments I didn't watch the preview, but I wouldn't want the insta-fail stealth. I think they are the ones who did Avatar Pandora and didn't really care for that game, so I was waiting til the game came out to see what it was like.

message 4113: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments I quite like the look of Outlaws but I think I'll wait for a sale or ask for it for Christmas.

It's a bit too close to Space Marine 2 in terms of release window and I'll opt for that instead. I've got a few games from the backlog I want to get to before that though so not much point in buying anything else.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments On a roll. Ping! Asphalt Legends Unite. Was fun to begin with, but wore out its welcome. Thought the PS4 version would auto-pop but weirdly no, meaning the plat would be a lot harder to achieve (maybe impossible) s8nce your progress continues between the 2 versions. Could be on that the trophies pop after one race but didn't fancy getting one trophy and hooked into playing more.

And Ping! Super Woden GP 2. Fun wee game. No complaints other than I'd have happily played on if there were more trophies.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Just noticed there's a PS4 version of Super Woden GP 2, so I can play on ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Should have just left the PS4 version of Asphalt Legends Unite but no, did a race to see if the trophies would auto-pop. A few did, but it looks like one of those that if they'd asked for say 30, one would be enough for that trophy. Which would be fine but the reputation and garage levels are likely to take forever at this point. On the fence as to whether to plough through so I'm not tempted to return to it in future or leave it for now. Stubbornly it'll probably be the former.

Did plat the PS4 version of Super Woden GP 2 though

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Edit: No, thinking about it, I'm going back to my initial thoughts that it's unplatable, having already got the PS5 plat. There's one trophy that definitely should have popped already but hasn't...

Hi Bro.

Work has been hell. I just cant get a break anytime.

Been gaming as usual though.

Im just about to finish Ni No Kuni 2. I believe i´ll be facing the last boss tonight.

message 4121: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments I've just played a 'game' called The Light in the Darkness. It first ended up on my radar as an easy plat (which it is) but I was also aware of the subject matter. It's about a Polish, Jewish family's experience of living in France between 1938-1942 ie before and after German occupation so this gives you an idea of what it's about.

As a game its terrible. All the things you'd usually judge a game on are bad. Like really bad. But it's about the story which is strong stuff to say the least and despite knowing a lot on the subject, I learned a few facts too.

It's free on the PS store.

Thanks Equinox. I'll take a look. As long as it's engaging with the story then I'll give it a go. Gives me something to play lol too.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Darkest Dungeon 2 seems to have got its claws in me again. Also have the urge to replay The Order 1886 after the mention of insta-fail stealth the other day...

message 4124: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments Would love a sequel to The Order 1886. 1887?

Add coop and a second horde mode and it'd be great.

The Order 1886 was really good.
I had a blast playing.

Sad they never made a sequel to continue the story.

Finished Ni No Kuni 2 last night.
It was great to play it despite not as good as the first game.

I really enjoyed The Order. One of my few plats ;-). The insta fail, QTEs and the abrupt ending (Sony probably to blame for pulling funding maybe?) really spoiled it but other than that it was really good in open game play.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments A bit more Darkest Dungeon 2 over the weekend (still haven't managed to beat the 2nd boss), some Asphalt Legends Unite (one PS4 trophy still bugged despite a couple of patched) and a bit of Grow: Song of the Evertree for a change of pace. Did restart The Order as well, don't think I managed to finish it first time around, as far as I remember there was an insta-fail section late on that I just didn't have the patience for.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Ping! Grow: Song of the Evertree. Not bad but not really great either, did the job as a change of pace though

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments And finally managed to beat the 2nd boss in Darkest Dungeon 2...just the three more to go ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Played a wee bit of Bleak Faith: Forsaken there, bit rough around the edges but mostly like what I've seen. They've been really stingy with the exp early on though - 13000 odd to next level and only getting 25-50ish per enemy and I'm only lvl3. So i i face an enemy im have trouble with not sure id fancy the grind to get stronger, if thats the way its going to be. Then again, you don't seem to lose anything when you die (unless that's just early on). Interesting start anyway, think they were applying to make a Tool video with the opening though ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Got to the first boss in Bleak Faith, and although he didn't seem that tough, the lack of healing items makes him artificially hard. Could probably beat him with a bit of patience and perseverance but would rather level up a bit before facing him again....but they've made doing that a huge grind. Looks like it'll be one of those I really want to like but the game won't quite let me.

Also got to the 3rd boss in Darkest Dungeon 2 a couple of times....and got annihilated both. It's 2nd phase hits ridiculously hard, I think I know how to take on the fight, but it's still a lot easier said than done.

Hitting brick walls everywhere it seems at the minute...talking to them too ;)

message 4132: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments I've also hit a brick wall. Progressed to the final boss in Sekiro, which is actually a double boss. I'm going for a different ending this time, so one of the bosses is different. Only a few attempts so far, but hopefully it goes better than my first playthrough. I only finished the first time through sheer force of will, and 12-15hrs worth of attempts.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I'm a bit wary of restarting Sekiro mostly for the same reason I'll give up on Bleak Faith sooner rather than later - if I can't overlevel easily (or level at all) it's going to be too much of a relentless struggle for my liking. Probably part of why I managed Elden Ring is that they pretty much throw the runes at you from the start and it's probably harder to not be a high level

message 4134: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments You can definitely farm for resources and skills, just not raw stats like other souls games.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments No stat points = no hope ;)

Going to take a break from Darkest Dungeon 2 for a while. Unlocked all the characters and did their stories, and have unlocked all the trinkets etc so it's pretty much just trying to get to the bosses in the right condition now...which is a lot easier said than done. I'll definitely be back to it at some point.

And given up on Bleak Faith already. By the time you reach the first boss, you'll have 2 healing potions and one regen max (you can farm the healing pots but can only use a maximum of 2 in battle). I could beat the first boss comfortably with one or two more but no they've made it more difficult than necessary. Between that and farming exp not being a viable option, I don't have the patience at the minute. Do think there's a decent Souls clone in there somewhere though.

And speaking of Souls, I think another Dark Souls Remastered attempt is on the cards.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Thought I'd give the first boss one last go in Bleak Faith and beat him comfortably. I'd read that the boss fights were pretty generous for exp...but no, was lvl 3 before the fight and still lvl 3 after...In two minds whether to continue

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments A bit daft coming from someone who has never managed to finish it, but Dark Souls Remastered is a bit on the easy side these days.

I remember the first time I beat the Taurus Demon, well OK it was gravity that beat them rather than me as they fell off the bridge. And other times in the past, I've spammed the plunging attack to beat them. But after fighting them again yesterday, they really are pretty tame, with most of the difficulty provided by the environment. The Knight in the underpass just before them as well, I used to avoid them like the plague and only attempted the fight if I was feeling very brave.

I've still managed to die a few times though, mostly in a ridiculous fashion. Fell for the drakes trap again as well. Was sure they usually more aggressive so crept closer and closer. Then, of course, next thing you know 2 pairs of claws are each side of you followed by cremation.

Still relaxing while playing a Souls is hitting the spot nicely

Hi all. Still not gaming much. I played the Light in the Darkness 😉. Yea game play wise it’s very basic but I liked the story, the characters and aesthetic. Only took a little over an hour. Also completed Metro Exodus Sam’s Story which is a very decent meaty add on campaign. Only complaint in the last couple of hours I had a few bugs - which plagued the game for several months after launch so thought it would be bug free by now. I had black screen once - I had menus and sound but otherwise no in game graphics. And then I couldn’t replace air filters - just did nothing. After a game reboot both times back to normal. Still very good dlc and took a good 6 hours. That’s Metro put to bed.

No idea what to play next. I’m tempted by Demon Souls remake if it’s easy. 🤣

message 4139: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments I've not really been playing much of late. I'm at 79.79% average completion on PSN Profiles so really near to my target of 80%. The best way of increasing it is trying to unlock trophies from games already played but I look through my list and there's usually a reason why I gave up and left it.

I did have a go on Metro Light Last (PS3), first played circa 2014, and unlocked a couple of misc trophies but it feels quite clunky and don't have much motivation to spend much time on it.

It's an utterly meaningless stat that only I'll look at but it's become a bit of a mission now. Just 0.21% to find and then I can start Immortals of Aveum which is what I really want to do.

I might have a look at the DLC's for GoW Ragnarok and TLOU II Remaster which are free or I own.

When not obessing over pointless trophy stats, I've always been watching all the previews of Space Marine 2 that came out yesterday. It looks very good indeed.

message 4140: by R(ob) (new)

R(ob) (r_uk) | 886 comments Mod
Yea Space Marine 2 looks very good. Might get it instead of Star Wars Outlaws which I could get for my birthday instead.

message 4141: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments Yeah I think Space Marine 2 looks the better of the two and a safer bet in terms of it being as good as it looks.

I do like the look of Outlaws but I'm not completely sold on it.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Surely the perfect game to hit 80% has to be Mass Effect Andromeda.....;)

message 4143: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments I did look at going back to that once but I think most if not all of the remaining trophies are a massive grind.

I'd need to do insanity level difficulty too. The difference being on Andromeda, you actually go insane from all the bugs and chronic facial animations.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Masochistically, I'm almost tempted to do a NG+ run though of Andromeda, depends on how much of the dialogue etc you can skip through. I saw I've a cloud save from 2017, so could probably mop up the remaining trophies in NG+. Don't know whether I can stomach it though

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Ah I remember why I didn't follow through the last time I thought about replaying Andromeda - I get the PS5 90% installed bug and don't know how far it'll let me play. Would really piss me off if I got 90% through it again and they said can't continue until the final 10% is done...which it never will. That 10% might be mp related and might be OK but dont think I saw a definite answer online, so really unwilling to chance it

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Yeah, no I'm not gonna attempt insanity difficulty. Thought maybe NG+ would help, but no, only went as far as the first fight out of curiosity but looks like too much of a pain in the ass. And if the plats out, I've definitely no will to continue.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Got as far as Blighttown in Dark Souls but gonna have to play around with my tv settings before I can get stuck in. At the minute, I may as well be playing with my eyes closed, even at the brightest game settings it's impossible to see. Don't remember it being quite as bad as it is

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Predictably, I regret messing with the tv settings, just can't seem to get anything to look right now...

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Watched a couple of gameplay videos for Star Wars Outlaws and Space Marine 2. Outlaws does look decent but dont think I've the appetite for massive Ubisoft worlds at the minute. Space Marine 2 at time looks like a laugh but maybe frustrating as well. Can't see the trophy list being nice either, with the MP modes. But I'd be leaning towards it rather than Outlaws.

More Dark Souls Remastered. Not made huge progress. After defeating Quelaag, I couldn't decide which direction to go, so farmed some large titanite for a while. Think I've had this problem before, I've too many directions I could go and can't decide which - Demon Lands, Sen's Fortress, Darkroot, Catacombs, back to the Asylum, New Londo Ruins, Valley of the Drakes, Glassmoon's Folly, R's Lament, Transgression of Equinox (dont think those last few made it into the final version for some reason ;) ). Probably other places as well

message 4150: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments I worry about the Space Marine 2 trophy list too. I'm 99% sure I'll buy it day one but as sad as it is, if the trophy list contains loads of PvP related trophies, I'll give it a miss.

PvE is fine though. Fingers crossed.
