The Video Game Forum discussion
What have you been playing: before the forum was deleted?

Star Wars - I'm about to uninstall this one. I'm very near the end, but can't seem to get through the endless waves rocket troopers and kill droids guarding the place. It is quite a long sequence and truly no fun. I may lower the difficulty and try power through the finish.
Forza Horizon 4 - Fun so far. It's Forza. Played mostly through the first season.
Jade Empire - Never played this supposed Bioware classic. I made it an hour or so in. I found it quite engaging, but got stuck at the first real boss where they make you square off against your rival.
Resident Evil 2 remake: I missed this originally because it came out when I had started college and video games became low priority for a few years. Looks great, plays great. I'll try to get through both characters here. Probably short sessions though, I do find the atmosphere quite stressful.

They're the worst addition to racing/driving games ever. They're anti-racing. I haven't gone for the main trophy relating to it yet but know its going to be an absolute pain.
Perhaps not strictly EA's fault but they now own Codemasters who added this abomination in.

I've just knocked PS+ level down to Essential for when it renews in October. There's been nothing on Extra or Premium for ages that's been of interest.
I've still got Premium for another 2 and a half months. I might check out the catalogue and see if there's anything worth playing in there. Maybe Killzone Liberation but not much else springs to mind.
Completed Dredge. Really enjoyed it and got quite addicted in the end finding it hard to put down. Once I enabled passive mode, upgraded the hull and storage, and most importantly the engine size, I was zipping around the seas completely chilled out. Some really distinctive areas to explore too. And the story wasn’t too bad and quite sad in the end - it has two endings and you can easily do both quickly from the final save point. Probably an 8/10 on the r-score-o-meter. Absolutely no idea what to play next - really struggling for games I want to play at the moment.

Still some distance to the plat but the road looks clearer now.

I'm on the final season in EA WRC. I need to win the championship and by the time I do that, I should have done a majority of the drive 1000 miles trophy.
Also still need to do about another 40km on snow too.

I also went ahead and let my Gamepass sub lapse. I often see Resident Evil 2 remake for 10$, so maybe I'll pick that up and resume my game next sale.

Gave Asphalt Legends Unite a quick go yesterday and it's not terrible for a free game. Has a bit of a PS360 era arcade racing vibe, far from perfect but fun enough. Main criticism is the constant directing towards the store and paid content, it does get in the way a bit but not enough to throw the toys out of the pram.

Still could be worse, like 24,900 miles in Grid. Not sure whether to concentrate on this or chip away at it gradually whilst starting something else.

Can't see anyone who liked the first having any issues with it, they should be well familiar with tearing their hair out in frustration ;)

I fancy going back to Rage on PS3 for some reason. After recently playing MW3 (2011), I've got a thing for older games. However, I'm only going to go back properly if I can get the most horrible trophy out of the way (the 5 finger fillet one). I've seen a way to make it easier on the 5th round which is ridiculously hard as it's randomised. However, I couldn't even get to round 5 during a very quick go yesterday. I'm hoping that's mainly because my lad was talking rubbish at me whilst I was trying but I think it's going to be frustrating anyway so might put it on the back burner until he starts school and have a nice, quiet house where I don't need to worry about swearing or raging at it.

A decent game with the usual nice driving mechanics. Sweden looked really nice too, especially with snow falling.
A fair few annoyances too unfortunately. Bad screen tearing on a couple of stages with big crowds by the side of the course and having to drive up to the marshals after each stage. This was generally OK but sometimes I'd stop a millimetre short of it registering I'd got there or I'd have to drive through them for it to move on. Regulatory rallies are just the worst addition to any game ever and will likely put me off the sequel if they're included again.
I've downloaded Immortals of Aveum to start in case Rage sends me into a rage.

And a bit more Asphalt Legends Unite, which I'd probably enjoy more if the career mode wasn't so stop/start. It was fine to begin with, but more and more they seem to be having events with specific cars, of which there's no straightforward way of acquiring. Driving is fun enough but if I want to ping it, it looks like it will take quite a while.

Will likely pick up F1 Manager 24 tomorrow, enjoyed the previous 2, though there'll probably come a point where I'll get tired of the same old formula

I rarely step out of my comfort zone gaming wise these days but so glad I did with this game.

Unless something really tempting crops up in a sale, I'll use it to get Space Marine 2. I think it'll have burned a hole in my virtual pocket by then though.
