Equinox80 | 665 comments I've got enough for £5 and also got £40 worth of credit for my birthday.

Unless something really tempting crops up in a sale, I'll use it to get Space Marine 2. I think it'll have burned a hole in my virtual pocket by then though.

Error | 408 comments I've been bouncing around heavily.

Star Wars - I'm about to uninstall this one. I'm very near the end, but can't seem to get through the endless waves rocket troopers and kill droids guarding the place. It is quite a long sequence and truly no fun. I may lower the difficulty and try power through the finish.

Forza Horizon 4 - Fun so far. It's Forza. Played mostly through the first season.

Jade Empire - Never played this supposed Bioware classic. I made it an hour or so in. I found it quite engaging, but got stuck at the first real boss where they make you square off against your rival.

Resident Evil 2 remake: I missed this originally because it came out when I had started college and video games became low priority for a few years. Looks great, plays great. I'll try to get through both characters here. Probably short sessions though, I do find the atmosphere quite stressful.

Equinox80 | 665 comments Is that first Star Wars game in your list Jedi Survivor Error?

message 4054: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments Yes - I didn't clarify but I've been working through that for what seems like months now. It's just been a massively frustrating game for me...absolutely love the story but so much of the gameplay has just been a slog. YMMV.

Equinox80 | 665 comments Sounds more like the farce is with you than the force.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Be thankful its not been EA'ified...yet. Empire Ultimate Team, where you pay real cash for the chance to get the ultra-rare Sebulba card (but inevitably end up with 5 Jar-Jar Binks).

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Not to forget the never-ending mentions of advances in the trademark EA SaberGlo tech

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Can anyone explain the early access to the PS store Summer sale for PS+ subscribers? (Extremely) limited titles, the offers on the games aren't anything to shout about, so if you weren't subbing already, is it really going to entice you? Highly doubt it. Seems completely pointless to me

message 4059: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Talking of things being EA'ified, who in their right mind thought adding regulatory rallies to the latest WRC games was a good idea?

They're the worst addition to racing/driving games ever. They're anti-racing. I haven't gone for the main trophy relating to it yet but know its going to be an absolute pain.

Perhaps not strictly EA's fault but they now own Codemasters who added this abomination in.

message 4060: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments I'm hope the games they add to that PS+ Summer Sale are better than the preview games. As you say, it all seems pointless.

I've just knocked PS+ level down to Essential for when it renews in October. There's been nothing on Extra or Premium for ages that's been of interest.

I've still got Premium for another 2 and a half months. I might check out the catalogue and see if there's anything worth playing in there. Maybe Killzone Liberation but not much else springs to mind.

message 4061: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Phew got the regulatory rally trophy. The relief! Horrible trophy!

message 4062: by R(ob) (new)

R(ob) (r_uk) | 886 comments Mod
Completed Dredge. Really enjoyed it and got quite addicted in the end finding it hard to put down. Once I enabled passive mode, upgraded the hull and storage, and most importantly the engine size, I was zipping around the seas completely chilled out. Some really distinctive areas to explore too. And the story wasn’t too bad and quite sad in the end - it has two endings and you can easily do both quickly from the final save point. Probably an 8/10 on the r-score-o-meter. Absolutely no idea what to play next - really struggling for games I want to play at the moment.

message 4063: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Dredge - PS4 ;)

message 4064: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments That's the other dodgy trophy on WRC done. Win a stage in Portugal with heavy engine damage.

Still some distance to the plat but the road looks clearer now.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Went to check the PS store sale on the console this morning...and half the games still seem to be full price. Their attention to detail is laughable at times. I'll try again later or maybe the app will be a bit more accurate

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Nope, checked the app and it's the same....

message 4067: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments I find these days the sales don't seem to properly update until around 10:30 so maybe give it an hour. I don't know why as they used to be ready to go early doors.

I'm on the final season in EA WRC. I need to win the championship and by the time I do that, I should have done a majority of the drive 1000 miles trophy.

Also still need to do about another 40km on snow too.

message 4068: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments The sale looks to be working now but it isn't a good sale. If I'd not been playing WRC, I'd probably pick up Art of Rally but I think my PSN credit is safe for the time being.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Yeah, didn't see much either. Tempted by Nobody Wants to Die

message 4070: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments Playing a bit of Jade Empire prompted me to start up Sekiro again on a whim. It's been four years since I played it and it completely sucked me back in. It's just so fast and fluid...it's fighting for top spot in the FROM catalogue right now in my mind.

I also went ahead and let my Gamepass sub lapse. I often see Resident Evil 2 remake for 10$, so maybe I'll pick that up and resume my game next sale.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Sekiro is one I wanted to like, but I'm ridiculously bad at parrying. No matter what I try, it's always too early or too late. My timing is horrendous. I have been tempted to try again in recent months but have a strong suspicion it'll end up the same way

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Played a wee bit of Nobody Wants to Die there and not many complaints. Seems like a decent change of pace

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Mostly played Darkest Dungeon 2 the past few days. One of those games that, when you are in the mood for it, it's both addictive and frustrating...and when you aren't completely in the mood, it's frustrating but still addictive. Enjoying it.

Gave Asphalt Legends Unite a quick go yesterday and it's not terrible for a free game. Has a bit of a PS360 era arcade racing vibe, far from perfect but fun enough. Main criticism is the constant directing towards the store and paid content, it does get in the way a bit but not enough to throw the toys out of the pram.

message 4074: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments Did you play the first Darkest Dungeon Deckard? Wondering how it compares...

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Yeah, I've played the first one and its pretty much more of the same. But a decent step forward for me at the same time

message 4076: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments I loved the first Darkest Dungeon. I only put it down because the final area seemed impossible...and the game can be quite stressful if you play too long.

message 4077: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments I've pretty much done everything on WRC but must have skipped through the last career season a bit too quickly as I've still got approx 200 miles to grind out.

Still could be worse, like 24,900 miles in Grid. Not sure whether to concentrate on this or chip away at it gradually whilst starting something else.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Darkest Dungeon 2 is just as tough as the first but a bit better all round. Definitely still fail 50 times for every success. Heal a character on the brink of death and...yep enemy attacks that character the very next turn, of course with a critical hit.

Can't see anyone who liked the first having any issues with it, they should be well familiar with tearing their hair out in frustration ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Seem to have hit a brick wall in Asphalt Legends Unite. Can't progress the career mode as I either don't have the right vehicle or it's not good enough. And the only way to rectify that is to either wait until the daily event cooldowns expire and grind...or spend loads of real money in the hope I get lucky with a significant amount of random drops. Might keep it installed and have a drive or two here and there as I was having fun with it, but it's not one I'm likely to stick with. Looked platable at one point but can't see it now

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Did Sekiro get a sneaky update? Yes, I'm that easily influenced ;) Not a major recagiruring but it's look pretty smooth. Had planned to set stuff aside and play through Nobody Wants to Die over the weekend but might see how soon I fail miserably at Sekiro instead. Parrying seems a bit easier than I remember....but doesn't take a fortune teller to tell me that success is still somewhere between no chance and zero ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Also got the weird urge to go back to The Division 2....though I doubt I'll hear Sheffield Wednesday 1 Crewe Alexandria 0 ;) Or whoever was down there before Sky bought football.

message 4082: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Sheffield Wednesday are my team, and still in the equivalent of Division 2 :(

I fancy going back to Rage on PS3 for some reason. After recently playing MW3 (2011), I've got a thing for older games. However, I'm only going to go back properly if I can get the most horrible trophy out of the way (the 5 finger fillet one). I've seen a way to make it easier on the 5th round which is ridiculously hard as it's randomised. However, I couldn't even get to round 5 during a very quick go yesterday. I'm hoping that's mainly because my lad was talking rubbish at me whilst I was trying but I think it's going to be frustrating anyway so might put it on the back burner until he starts school and have a nice, quiet house where I don't need to worry about swearing or raging at it.

message 4083: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments In other news I finished the remaining mini grind on EA Sports WRC to plat that.

A decent game with the usual nice driving mechanics. Sweden looked really nice too, especially with snow falling.

A fair few annoyances too unfortunately. Bad screen tearing on a couple of stages with big crowds by the side of the course and having to drive up to the marshals after each stage. This was generally OK but sometimes I'd stop a millimetre short of it registering I'd got there or I'd have to drive through them for it to move on. Regulatory rallies are just the worst addition to any game ever and will likely put me off the sequel if they're included again.

I've downloaded Immortals of Aveum to start in case Rage sends me into a rage.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments 40 hours into Darkest Dungeon 2 and I've only got as far as the 2nd boss. Partly of my own doing, I could have made things a bit easier but doubt it would change my record of 36 expeditions with 2 successes. Still enjoying it.

And a bit more Asphalt Legends Unite, which I'd probably enjoy more if the career mode wasn't so stop/start. It was fine to begin with, but more and more they seem to be having events with specific cars, of which there's no straightforward way of acquiring. Driving is fun enough but if I want to ping it, it looks like it will take quite a while.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Think I'm gonna have to take a break from Darkest Dungeon 2. Got to the 2nd boss again, thought I was a lot better prepared than the first time...and got my ass kicked in no time. Probably a case of unlocking the right characters but time for a break, I think.

Will likely pick up F1 Manager 24 tomorrow, enjoyed the previous 2, though there'll probably come a point where I'll get tired of the same old formula

Error | 408 comments Progressing nicely through Sekiro. I've explored all currently available paths and taken down quite a few bosses and mini bosses. I did make the mistake of watching a Games Done Quick playthrough of the game this weekend. The player made it to my level of progression in around 7 minutes, lol. The skill of some of these speed runners is insane.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Made a good dent in the F1 Manager 24 career, though it's a bit weird. I've started a few custom teams and no matter what you do, it looks like you'll be so badly crippled with debt in the first season that's there's no point on starting a second. I'll have to play around with it a bit more and see though. It's a bit daft that the best randomly generated drivers want 3x more than their real counterparts. Most of the trophies look fine but one of them looks like it'll be a bit of a pain, probably easier picking Red Bull and getting that trophy with them.

message 4088: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Why Red Bull? Is the trophy to get wings?

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Pit stop related, they've the best team, so reckon it'd be easier with them. Then again, having wings in the pit stop area sounds like a messy tragedy waiting to happen ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Then again, I'm sure they've H&S initiatives in place for wing related accident. Not sure about there's much availability in terms of PPE though

message 4091: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments I think there's still loads of PPE from all the dodgy contracts handed out like sweets a few years ago ;)

message 4092: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments I see the 3rd and final bit of Remnant 2 DLC is out in Sept. I'll look forward to that for sure.

I rarely step out of my comfort zone gaming wise these days but so glad I did with this game.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments It's one I'm always tempted to go back and see if it clicks but never seem to be in the right mood to stick with

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Definitely confused by F1 Manager 24's finances. 5 races to go, I've managed to keep 18 mil, yet the financial advisors are predicting I'll have -70 mil by the end of the season? Unless I'm spending a load of money on making Andromeda a good Mass Effect, I'm not sure where the money black hole is coming from. We'll see I guess

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments End of season -4 mil, predicted income +70 mil, what it will actually be is anyone's guess. RNG finances, they should implement that in real life...or maybe not ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments And if anyone is interested in the racing game ExoCross, my advice...don't, not even cheap. Manages to be both horrible and boring, plus a trophy for 50 online races when no one is going to play and I doubt the developers will keep the servers up any length of time. Probably stroke off Exo One as well, heard that it has Journey vibes after I'd picked it up...and yes it's just as dull/pointless. Next game I see with Exo in the title, I'm busting out the holy water...i.e. Guinness by the boat load

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Kinda feel like playing something outside my comfort zone....no idea what one of those looks like though ;)

message 4098: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Play Astro's Playroom mate. I still can't believe you never played it when you got your PS5. It's fairly short, easy to plat and just a very, very good game. As you've not got to it yet, I'm assuming it's not in your comfort zone.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments That....doesn't sound like a bad idea ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments And Ping! F1 Manager 24. Cheesed the pit stop trophies a little. Last race of the season, I was only 2 points behind, so kept reloading the race. That didn't work the first half dozen times, so send one of the drivers in to pit 3 or 4 extra times, and that did the trick. I think another season and I'd have got it anyway.
