Yea only mildly unnerving in some of the sneak past the monster sections and if you take time to look at the monsters, as it’s easy not to see them properly when hiding, they are at least ‘The Thing’ kinda creepy. The dark and atmospheric tone of the oil rig is reasonably well done especially with the ‘monster’ structure entwined into it. The Scottish characters steal the show?

I’m 3/4 of the way through and my opinion of it improved the more I played. With such a straightforward environment to navigate and simplistic gameplay it doesn’t elevate it beyond average. The atmosphere of the environments and the characters does help keep it engaging for me (at least).

By the way, anyone remember The Thing video game from original Xbox era? It's been a very long time, but I recall really enjoying it.
Completed Still Wakes the Deep. Overall I enjoyed it. More for the atmosphere, the oil rig environment I thought was nay bad, the characters and of course all of the C words in Scottish accents. The game has it flaws - fairly basic game play but it does actually have game play, the story is serviceable just, not scary (slightly unnerving in parts) and it’s very linear - but I cannie deny I enjoyed it. 7/10 on the r-score-o-meter. Defo play on PS Plus/games pass or in a sale around a tenner.
No idea what to play next. Has anyone played Dredge?

Reinstalled Xcom 2 for some reason. Was enjoying it well enough but have the same complaint I have every time I go back to it - the chance to hit percentages are nonsense. 90% chance to hit misses a lot more than 10% of the time. Yes, you could say on a long enough timescale it might even itself out, but I've stuck nearly 200 hours into over the years, how long do I have to wait. Anyway was enjoying it until earlier, when the game crashed and when I went to load it back in, the save file had vanished. Really don't seem to have a lot of luck with these things.
Ping! Ramp Car Racing, not great but cheap and possibly the quickest plat you'll find

Yea I didn’t like some of the underwater sections but got through them ok. I just followed yellow 😀.

Yea it’s not a bad game. I thought the ending lacked a little something gameplay wise but overall enjoyable enough. I won’t be starting a second play through. 625 cheevo points will do me. Less than 8000 cheevos to go to hit 100,000.

***spoiler*** especially Rennick, was fearing some poorly concocted boss fight with new game mechanics that would have been out of place compared to the rest. So don't know whether to be relieved or disappointed by it ;) ***end spoiler***

In the mood to return to Cyberpunk 2077 I think, can't remember why I'd lost interest, didn't think it was bad though. We'll see if it sticks

I've been playing Warframe a couple of years with mates so I think The First Descendant is probably on our radar. I'm getting a bit tired of Warframe - it's good - but after two years, and the type of gamer I am, I need something new. I expect my mates will play it, say it's not as good as Warframe, and I'm back on Warframe again :-(.
I'm struggling for my next game to play after Still Wakes the Deep. On my backlog I've got:
Callisto Protocol
Saints Row
Mafia 1 remaster
Dredge
Immortals of Aveum
Cocoon
None of them really appeal.

Mafia 1 Remake jumps out to me.

(i know you'll know this anyway) in the recent definitive trilogy 2 was just a lightly-remastered goty edition and 3 was just a straight-up unaltered goty edition, but 1 was a ground-up remake and was very well received

Yes I vaguely remember that so yea sounds like a good option. And I enjoyed 2 and 3 so defo a good call. I can't face Callisto Protocol - I've played too many dark horrors recently and need a change. I did look at Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes too but again probably even darker horror so maybe another time.

Yeah, I would go for Mafia as well. Haven't played it personally, but I absolutely loved Mafia 2.

Will definitely get to Immortals of Aveum soon too.
I picked up Telltales TWD Season 1 in a recent sale for about £2.50. Played it on PS3 and Vita (and Xbox 360) but was probably due a other replay. Plus I wanted an easy and guaranteed plat for #249 as I've been working on something special for the #250 landmark and that's about ready to come out of the oven.
Once that's done, I'll go back to EA Sport WRC which I briefly started.

Got Cyberpunk working after restoring licences and jumping through half a dozen hoops. Happy it's working but not sure I've got the enthusiasm to get stuck into again now. Probably will if nothing else clicks though.
And played a bit more of The First Descendant. Yeah not terrible but lacking something. Framerate is a bit choppy at times, which doesn't help.

Ping TWD. Still hits right in the feels

My PS3 recently decided it was fine to connect online again after getting an error for the last 6 months. After that I went on PSNP and found someone to do the spec ops missions in coop with as getting 3 stars on each is the plat buster.
I'd done quite a few and played the campaign on veteran back in 2017 so didn't have too many left but still had the hardest ones to do. Thankfully this guy and myself made a good team and we eventually got these all done. I then finished a couple of other grindy trophies last night to get one of my proudest plats and complete the holy trinity of MW2, WaW and MW3. My 3 fav CODs from the PS360 gen.
They don't make them like that anymore.

Caught up on a bit of gaming yesterday after going to the Peak District for a few days.
Did TWD 400 days DLC which I'd not played for about 10+ years and was better than I remember.
Did the new trophy added in Astrobots Playroom before firing EA WRC back up. Chipped away at the WRC Junior campaign and did a couple of 'Moments'. These Moments are quite tough but managed 3 gold out of 4 completed so far. I'm less than a second out on the other one so may try and redo that one but hard to see where I can shave a second off.
Looking at starting Immortals of Aveum later in the week too.
Morning all. Not a good weekend of gaming for me. I started Mafia 1 remake but the first mission was so annoying I thought if the game has any more missions like this it's going to annoy me. So I gave up before earning any trophies. The car chase finding barriers to go through to wreck the enemies car was so mindnumbingly tedious - I'd had enough in a matter of 10 mins. Perhaps it's a one off type mission but I'm not going to bother to find out.
I tried The First Descendant too - when a game is worse than the games it tries to rip off (Warframe, Destiny) and with absolutely awful frame rate and poor lighting - I gave it 15 mins and didn't waste my time any longer.
And then finally I started Dredge. Actually a pretty good game. Reminds me of Man Eater but at a much slower place and fishing rather than eating, and leveling up a boat rather than a shark. Good exploration around the islands but after a good three hours the game started to grate on me a bit. My boat was repeatedly damaged by various means which meant spending any money I made from fishing on repairs. It started to feel like a grind I'll never win. Perhaps I just need to get good at avoiding going out at night but whenever I go out first thing in the morning night time soon comes around and then I take a battering from big nasty boat eating fish. I'm on the fence whether I will bother with it anymore. Actually a decent indie game, just don't know if I have the patience for it.

Thanks Deckard. I’ll take a look.

I was very interested in The First Descendent earlier in the year but it doesn't sound great so will probably leave it. For a while at least.

I must admit I didn't give Mafia 1 much of a chance. I had a low threshold for frustration at the weekend - I probably binned it off too early. Still, I'm not too bothered about not playing it. Dredge is good and if I stop the ship damage at night (by a setting) then it will be a nicely chilled game.

Yea just checked. There's a passive mode 'where monsters don't attack your boat and scary things don't happen'. So I'll try that when I next play it. If I can just chill that's all I want as the game is otherwise quite good.

Also managed to get gold on 5 Moments on WRC last night. They offered a bit of a challenge but not as bad as I first thought.
