Speaking of which, I spent an hour creating my pawn over the weekend. I'm all set for release. Should be a good time.

Been bouncing around in the meanwhile...Brotato, Forza, Fight Night

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Think I'm going to pick on weaklings the next few days in Dark Souls 3 and see if I've learned anything from my Elden Ring plats, to make a bit more progression in it. Think the furthest I've gotten before is Pontiff Sulyvahn before running out of steam. Keep me going till Friday at least, I think...maybe

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I've preloaded Dragons Dogma 2 ready for Friday, so reckon messing about in Dark Souls 3 makes more sense than starting something new until then

Hi everyone

Hope you´re doing great.
Been very absent from here due to work and basic tiredness...

Finished Hogwarts Legacy (79hrs) and really enjoyed that one.
I still had pleny of sidequests and some map locations to discover but i felt it was time to move on.
Its a very very solid 8/10.

Im now playing both Resi 3 Remake and Persona 5 but im at the very beginning on both.
Resi is...Resi...it feels like RE 2 remake which im ok with.
Persona 5 is...weird? I 4 hrs into and i still dont know what im playing. lol.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Too much Andromeda would drain the life from anyone mate ;)

Glassmoon - The Benny Hill of Plats | 779 comments Mod
haha.
I read something about Andromeda 2. You missed me? :P

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments That would be a very EA decision - we are sacking all these staff, and cancelling half our upcoming single player focused games, with the exception of a sequel to the highly acclaimed Andromeda.....;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments In "non butt of joke" news, did I see the console version of the System Shock remake has a release date now?

Yes you did!!
Its in May i think.
Im really excited for that.

I also had a seizure when i saw the Stalker trilogy on the Xbox store.
Man i love those games and i had no clue they were even working on them.
Instant Hawing!

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Made a quick start on Dragons Dogma 2 and it's more of the same, so will likely only appeal to those who enjoyed the first. Very early days but no big complaints from me...apart from maybe the lack of framerate options

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Dragons Dogma 2 - few irritations, rough around the edges but seems enjoyable enough, like the first game. Went to start a new game there though, and it's one of those you have to go into the consoles saved game files and delete that, rather than have new game on the main menu. Definitely a few wee irritations, hoping they don't add up

message 3662: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments Yeah it's reviewing like a literal Dragon's Dogma 2.0...that means it will likely be my favorite game of all time and the player base will be like 300 in a month.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Yeah, you'd almost think you are playing a large expansion but it's no bad thing

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Most of my minor concerns about Dragons Dogma 2 haven't amounted to much. Rough around the edges, yes, but probably enjoying it more than the first one

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Also gave Rise of the Ronin a quick go over the weekend. Its not terrible but a little disappointing for me since I generally like the developers. It's not enough to tear me away from Dragons Dogma 2 anyway, I'll give it a proper go once I'm done with it

Hi everyone

Been having a huge headache because of my bedroom LG tv.
I put in my head that i need a new Oled tv and i started having issues with the picture blacks.
If i put the backlight all the way up the blacks become grey. It i put it where the greys become blacks again the picture becomes way to dark.
I have both the tv and PS5 on limited so its not a range mismatch issue.
I´ve been messing with RE 3 Remake for the last 3 days trying to put the image ok but its either way too dark or washed up blacks.
Either there´s a problem with the TV or its its showing its age. :(
I have another 55´TV (Samsung) where the image is way better with the exact same game. Everything is brighter but not washed up. Both are in game modes too so probably the Samsung is a better tv?

Anyone ever had this issues?

If it’s an old or cheap LCD TV with very little or no local dimming the picture can look a bit washed out. If it’s in HDR try calibrating the HDR on the PS5. Also try adjusting the contrast on the TV. My old LG looked terrible in game mode but it always looked bad. My gaming TV now is a Samsung LED with hundreds of dimming zones and a very high nit brightness in HDR so generally looks good for an LCD. OLED can have very dark pictures especially in bright rooms unless you get one of the new OLEDs which can get very bright but normally they are very expensive. And the higher OLED screen brightness panels are normally only found on the bigger screen sizes.

Hi Rob

I have a 55´ LG LCD but i cant remember the model.
It has 5 or 6 years and i think it was midrange when i bought it.

I calibrated the HDR on the PS5 a dozen times, believe me. I messed with the tv settings many times also.
I dont know, it just looks off to me.

Has the picture got worse recently or has it always been bad? If is 5-6 years old it probably has no dimming zones or has edge lighting which are both bad for washed out blacks.

I think so. I dont remember the blacks being so washed up before.
I need to turn down backlight to 45 in order to get normal blacks in games.
But if i do that, i think the overall picture is way too dark. Like, in Resi 3 remake, i cant see any details in a darker zone but if i turn backlight up, i can see the details but everything becomes greyish.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I'll probably need a new TV myself sooner rather than later. The top of the screen is appearing at the bottom. For a while it was only a mm or two and not distracting, so thought I'd hold off. But now it's grown to probably a couple of cm so think it's approaching dump time

message 3672: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments True to my word, I played Dragon's Dogma all weekend. Yep, it's Dragon's Dogma all right. The title screen doesn't even say "2". I'm completely immersed. I managed to get to a late game area early and bought some very powerful weapons. Meanwhile, I backtracked and realized I had ignored lots of early game quests. In fact, I missed a whole early town with major plot points. Two of them even. Anyway, I'm steamrolling earlier game content and thoroughly enjoying myself, just as I knew I would.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments It's definitely one of those games you'd doubt many would see 100% of everything. Exploration is where it shines, been impressed by the world

message 3674: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments Yeah, that's always been it for DD. The world is alive. Sit on a cliff and watch the people, animals, and monsters interact for awhile. While you're up there toss a few boulders down and see what happens.

Gonna be a 200hr game for me.

message 3675: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments I've not played anything for about a week. Nothing has really appealed and I've been cream crackered (more than usual).

I had a browse through the new PS store spring sale but not much inspiration there. I'm pinning my hopes on the PS+ games announcement later. Probably a foolish move.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Think I'm going to take a break from Dragons Dogma 2 for a bit. Explored a fair bit beyond the border and maxed out 4 (well on my way to 5) vocations but finding myself swearing at it more and more. Mostly camera related, and part stop dying please pawns. Like the first one mostly enjoy but not without its frustrations

message 3677: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments Immortals of Aveum on PS+

That'll do very nicely indeed.

message 3678: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments I picked up the Remnant 2 season pass and A Short Hike in the sale.

The season pass wasn't as cheap as I'd hoped for and there's only been one of three expansions drop so far but I'm keen to go back to the game.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Had a few looks at the sale myself but nought is jumping out. Think I'm in the mood for something horrorish...maybe Androme....no that one's a bit too terrifying, so much so that i can't bring myself to finish the title ;)

message 3680: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments That's horror for all the wrong reasons ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Picked up a couple of PSVR2 games in the sale - After the Fall and The 7th Guest. Should hopefully scratch the horror itch (should maybe see a doctor) over the long weekend. Also picked up FAR: Lone Sails and Dead Ahead: Zombie Warfare. Think I need a few shorter types before more Dragons Dogma 2

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Damn it! I've went and done a Glass ;) Dead Ahead has no plat....

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments It's Soma all over again ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I'm obviously cursed...FAR has no plat either....

message 3685: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments No plats? Is there even any point in playing them? ;)

message 3686: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments I was going to recommend another tower defence game I saw when I found Swamp Defence. However, you've already played it according to the PS store. It's Elemental War. Looks a bit more high end compared with Swamp Defence.

Elemental War 2 is on sale. It doesn't look like you've played that one yet ;)

Is the first game any good?

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Don't think I played much of it, seem to remember it being a bit awkward and giving up pretty quick. probably one of those times I picked it up in a sale along with a few others and the others caught my attention more

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Think I might reinstall it though, see if its worth sticking with

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Elemental War... just got the build your first tower trophy, must have stuck it on and turned it straight off last time lol. Not bad though once you get going, could be another addictive one

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Trophy wise, it looks a bit of a pain

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments After the Fall is pretty fun. Basically a VR Left4Dead clone. The boss types are a little bit too bullet spongey but other than that I had a blast the little I played of it yesterday

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Finished Dragons Dogma 2...sort of. There's a post game area to get the true ending but I wasn't paying attention, and got myself locked in to replaying the final fight...which wasn't fun, so I'll come back to it at some point.

Overall mixed feelings about it. Definitely an upgrade on the first game, at times loved it, but its not without its irritations and has its fair share of frustrations.

Took a week off work last week and didn’t game much except for starting Terminator Resistance Enhanced over the Easter weekend. I must be about half way through the campaign. So far absolutely loving it. Really nails Terminator and I love the open environments and the exploration albeit limited to small areas. Actually enjoying this game more than Robocop. The graphics are better too 4k 60fps just because they’ve not gone for effects over resolution. Some hairy moments too where Terminators have snook up on me unexpectedly. For a AA game it’s brilliant. And even the platinum trophy looks on assuming Infiltrator mode is good and not rock hard. So far a solid 8-9/10.

message 3694: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments I played through the Remnant 2 DLC over the weekend and mopped up all the trophies for that. One was quite frustrating as I needed to keep rerolling a certain area on adventure mode and then hoping the procedurally generated side dungeon 20 mins and a boss fight later was a particular one. I had to reroll about 10 times before getting the correct area. I did enjoy going back to this and hopefully not too long until the second bit of DLC becomes available.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Naught is really keeping my attention at the minute. Did go back to Dragons Dogma 2 fir a bit and had a wander around the unmoored world but wasn't really feeling it. I'll come back to it in a few months or so.

Would have got stuck into Planet Zoo, seemed pretty decent but.... they've locked one of the game modes behind a " sign up to a Frontier account" and that's put me off playing it completely. Think I'd enjoy it otherwise but just don't see their need for that.

So I'm now on the hunt for something that'll keep me going for more than five minutes...

Equinox80 | 666 comments Hi Deck. Did you ever get into Immortals of Aveum a go? I think I'll download that when I get home. Forgot to kick it off this morning.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Think I only played about half an hour, seemed solid enough but nothing really stood out early on. Meant to give it a proper go, might install it now, see if it clicks

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Yeah, I might stick with Immortals of Aveum for a bit. Nothing special early on but not the worst

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Change of mind, don't think it's what I'm in the mood for.... but since I've no idea what's next I may end up pushing through it

message 3700: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments Push through the pain barrier mate and then you can give me tips on how to go about getting the plat.

I'm struggling to get on my PS5 at a decent time atm as the TV is being used for other purposes. In the short term I've charged my Vita but I'm giving serious though to investing in one of those PS Portals.
