DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Starting to make a bit more progress in Infinite Wealth. Trophy wise, it's looking like mostly story, the only thing that will potentially hold me up is getting to the bottom of the 2nd dungeon. Looking platable at the minute though

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments 80 hours in and 42% complete....think I'm gonna need a break in the near future

Equinox80 | 666 comments The Helldivers 2 trophy list has finally been revealed and it looks to be a 7 or 8/10 difficulty but I'm still going to get it.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Watched a few videos of Helldivers 2 and it looks a bit too frantic for me. One of those that could be fun but could equally be frustrating

message 3555: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments That does worry me a bit too. Especially as friendly fire is always on.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Kind of tempted to play through all the Yakuza games once I'm done with Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth. Though doing that would likely take up a large chunk of the year...

message 3557: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments That's about 1000 hours worth isn't it? I'm not that familiar with the series but know there's a lot and each take hours to do.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Yeah, It's definitely not a small number and think I'd likely make myself sick of them in no time, but we'll see. At the least it'll stop me wasting money for a while. That said my PS5 has been making some worrying noises recently

message 3559: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments I've put a few hours into Helldivers 2 and it's what I expected it to be. I'm enjoying it although it's not really possible to join public games atm but games like these have server issues on launch day. Thankfully someone on my friend list has it too so I've been able to experience coop play, and that's the only real way to play it.

The gunplay is satisfying and I'm getting to grips with the various in game currency systems, warbonds and strategems. Good stuff so far.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Making decent progress in Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth now. Only a few chapters left and expect to finish the story over the weekend. Plat might take a wee bit longer but doesn't look like a problem

message 3561: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments Hi all...no gaming for a few weeks as I was on vacation with the family. Getting back to Nier now. I also decided to try out the new season of Diablo IV, and it is so much more generous with experience and drops. I made it to level 50 in two days. I might even stick this one out to lvl 100 if it doesn't get too annoying.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Ping! Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth. Enjoyed it, good step up from Yakuza: Like a Dragon. They do make some good games though maybe a bit on the lengthy side

Kind if tempted to go back to Diablo IV too. Depends on how stable it is these days but half fancy a hardcore playthrough. Still plan on starting a full Yakuza series marathon though, some Diablo breaks might help....have a feeling I'll not last

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Also got Armored Core VI and Sekiro reinstalled, in case I'm feeling a bit masochistic

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Seem to be in one of those - enjoyed one game, can't settle on the next - kind of moods. Tried a few different games but nothing seemed to want to stick. Diablo IV is better than it was the last time I played, but still a the occasional yo-yo'ing that puts me off attempting a hardcore run. At the minute Persona 3 Reload seems likeliest to stick but we'll see...

Morning all. Not much gaming at the weekend for me. I played a couple of hours of Evil West probably just under half-way through. It's a fun game but gotta say I'm getting tired of the constant boss fights. A couple of new bosses were introduced and I beat them and then a mission or so later I fight the same bosses again and they can be quite grindy. I mean the boss fights aren't bad but a boss fight for my own personal enjoyment needs to be infrequent, somewhat spectacular (God Of War or Gears for example) and define an important aspect of the story. These boss fights are there for the sake of it - by no means bad, I'm just getting a little tired of them and repeating the same bosses.

Equinox80 | 666 comments I've been playing more Helldivers 2. It's still tremendous fun and I've found a good bunch of other players to coop with. You can 'friend' players in game, including PC players so when you jump on, you can jump straight into their missions. I've even been playing with Tel. The guy who set up the very first 'What are currently playing...' thread on the amazon forum 12-13 years ago. (That makes me feel old).

There is no proper matchmaking as yet (and sorely needs it) and the servers have been somewhat hit and miss since launch (more hit than miss though).

As the difficulty increases, tactics are coming more to the fore. Its best to have some team members with more attack minded strategems like airstrikes and some with a more defensive nature such as auto turrets and laying mine fields.

When you complete the main objective of a mission you all have to run to the evac site and call in a drop ship to pick you up. The two mins for this to appear can sometimes feel like at eternity as the evac site threatens to get overrun. There's a huge sense of relief when you make it on to the ship the cut scene of your ship flying away from encroaching enemies plays out.

Equinox80 | 666 comments Does any believe the current rumours that Xbox are leaving the hardware market and releasing their games on PlayStation?

I usually ignore stuff like this but there seems to be some substance to it.

Forza Horizon and Gears of War on PS has always been a distant dream.

Completely selfishly, as a ps5 owner, I hope so because I was planning on buying a Series X at some point in a sale, Black Friday or whatever, to play Starfield/Indiana Jones and the Great Circle/Elder Scrolls 6, as well as everything I currently have on my X1S.

If all those Bethesda games come to Playstation then it'll save me a packet - I'm happy to continue using the X1S as a Forza Horizon 3-5 machine and backup 4k blu-ray player, it's plenty good enough for that.

We'll have to wait and see. I believe they are making an announcement later this week. From what I've heard on Digital Foundry they are not leaving the console market - said Rich confirmed from one of his sources. Nobody knows at the mo to what the extent the games will be made cross-platform, whether it will be a subset only, all of them and whether any cross-plats will be timed. Makes sense to me from a business perspective - in terms of revenue - but I do wonder if the only differentiating factor for the console hardware will be games pass on xbox and full price per game on PS5. We'll see.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Hope not! Sony are lazy enough even with competition. Makes a bit of sense for MS to release some games though, get your rivals to pay for your billion dollar acquisitions

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Still not really been able to settle on anything gaming wise at the minute. Bit of Persona 3 and started the PS4 version of Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, in the hope it would keep me going until something jumps out

message 3572: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments More Helldivers 2 for me but I think I'll have a bit of a break soon. Coop buddies have been a bit lighter on the ground and joining public games is still not working properly so its not been as good over the last few nights.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I think I've managed to settle on Persona 3 Reload. Like what they've done with it, thought it was just a visual change initially, but they've tweaked a few things that didn't really work originally and added some other stuff

message 3574: by K (new)

K C (kac15) | 17 comments I started up Persona 3 and it did look interesting. I just not sure I have time for a 100 hour game right now. I need to grind in Star Ocean as my weapons/attack level are not high enough for the enemies I need to kill plus I've started the Final Fantasy Rebirth demo and can't wait for the game to come out in two weeks.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Did something a little daft and picked up Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League. Daft in that, by the time I get around to playing it, it'll likely be on sale. Did give it a wee go though. Visually, it's a bit disappointing, smooth enough but a bit uninspiring early on. Gameplay wise it look like it could be fun though, depends on how repetitive it gets

Morning all. Managed a bit more gaming over the weekend. Progressed with Evil West and only have four missions to go. It's a really good game but I'm not sure it's for me. I love the art style and the levels are really atmospheric with some amazing vistas. The combat is pretty good and satisfying but I'm really starting to tire of the constant mini-boss and boss fights. I mean the earlier bosses in the game become mini-bosses later on and then you get more of them to fight at the same time. I'm getting through them but sometimes it feels a real chore and I can only play a couple of missions before I need to take a break because it feels so intense. The main boss fights are getting bigger in scale and to be fair are pretty good and I haven't died in one yet but I'm often close to dying. I just hope I can see out the game because if it gets any more intense the controller could take flight.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Yeah, I was enjoying Evil West well enough, but needed a break from it ...and added it to the ever growing to-do list. Found it similar to you R, combat was generally satisfying but was becoming a bit of a slog

Yea all it would take is one sticky boss and I think I'll snap and call it a day. I've even knocked it down to story difficulty but even that is a bit of a challenge but seemingly manageable. I refuse to be stressed out gaming :-). My next game will be a lot more chill - The Entropy Centre is defo my next game.

message 3579: by K (new)

K C (kac15) | 17 comments I finished the Final Fantasy Rebirth demo and now a week and a half wait for the game. Did a trial in Star Ocean Second and picked up Banishers: The Ghosts of Eden. I hadn't heard much about it, but I do like a story driven game, so thought I would pick it up. Ghostbusters in the late 1600's in a cursed New England village.

message 3580: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments I like the look of Banishers but it'll be a 'wait for a sale/PS+' for me I think.

Been playing Helldivers 2 as and when the servers allow. It's been more popular than the devs imagined and they don't have big enough servers for everyone who wants to play. It's meant that trying to login over the weekend has been very patchy at best. It's usually better in the week and presumably numbers will drop off at some point.

message 3581: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments Arghhh, another night of not being able to play HD2. Servers full to the hilt again. Losing quite a lot of patience with it now.

message 3582: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments It turns out if I'd waited in the queue a few more mins, I'd have got onto HD2 ok.

Anyway, played I a proper squad with comms last night and a great time. Best online gaming experience since the Xbox 360 days.

Got to say HD2 does look very good. I've been watching Jack Frags play it and it does look like they've nailed it. Still doubt I'd get it as it looks like a game best played with mates and my regular gaming mates don't experiment nowadays with new games. Back in the day it was Battlefield and now it's Warframe. We did play Left4Dead and some others but it was very short lived and I'm not even going to bother trying to persuade them to get HD2.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Shadow of the Erdtree is a bit pricey for a dlc, must be pretty sizeable (hopefully anyway). Still good to know it's not far off, considering there's not been much info after they announced it ages ago

message 3585: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments @ R. HD2 has been everything I'd hoped it would be after being hyped from the first trailer last June. Probably better in fact and there's a good online community with it. It's not much fun at all solo but even with randoms, it's a great coop experience. Definitely better with mates though if they did convert.

Will be interesting to see how it develops and gets supported. There's talk of adding vehicles and mechs in the future but I'd just settle for increased server capacity for now haha.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Played a wee bit of Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters .... and despite the name being a mouthful, its not a bad wee xcom type early on. The Warhammer 40,000 terminology will take a bit of getting used to though

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments My PS5 tells me tickets are available for FarmCon 24 and apparently there's a Farm Simulator League? Time to dust off the Massey-Ferguson I think....or maybe not ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Also thought I'd polish off the Alan Wake 2 plat, one trophy left but...the dodge at the last second trophy seems to be evading me....

message 3589: by R(ob) (new)

R(ob) (r_uk) | 886 comments Mod
The dodge at the last second trophy took me probably over half the game to get. It made no sense whatsoever. Apparently it is easier to get on the wolves. In the end I got it but I don't know what I did differently to get it - it was through sheer persistence and not by knowing what to do to actually trigger it.

Over the weekend I completed Evil West. As I guessed the last four missions of the game continue to ramp up the intensity and in some areas I would clear an area of mini-bosses, talk to someone in a building, go back outside in the same area and another horde of mini-bosses to deal with. Honestly the last four missions of the game I was literally shaking afterwards due to the stress. The final two main boss battles were well designed though and intense. In the end it really is a good game but I just think it's a bit OTT for me on the intensity of the arena style battles. Probably 7/10 on the r-score-o-meter for my enjoyment but actually it's a good game so for someone who actually likes constant boss battles it could be even 8-9/10 (especially for a AA game, it's only low budget).

Next I think it will be The Entropy Centre probably.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Yeah, the dodge trophy in Alan Wake 2 is a bit weird. Tried a load of different ways and nothing. Then read about the wolves and on my way to look for one, the trophy popped on a random taken....and to be honest it felt like I dodged early rather than the last second. I'll not complain, its another plat in the bag

Started The Entropy Centre. Very Portal 2 like in the sense of traversing through a abandoned high tech facility with an AI talking to you and making jokes. You travel through abandoned longer sections - much like Portal 2 - and then there are puzzles rooms to solve (dotted around). Only completed the first two chapters but you have a gun a bit like Portal 2 except it reverses time and entropy (rebuilding destroyed structures) and moving blocks around with the gun's time reversing abilties. So far so good. Very chilled and atmospheric and the puzzles are not too head scratching so far - early days though. Definitely need a chilled out game after Evil West.

Equinox80 | 666 comments Ping! - Helldivers 2

What an incredible game this is. It should be used as the blue print for live services games, especially if Sony want to expand in that area going forward.

It threatened to be a victim of its own success after the first week or so but the devs responded quickly to boost player counts and the few server issues I faced early on don't take away from this game being the most fun I've had in years. It might even just break into my top 10 games of all time. Definitely in the top 15.

Trophy wise, this plat is one of my proudest achievements in gaming. When I first saw the trophy list I thought I'd be happy to get 50% done and wrote the plat off. Then I started ticking more and more of them off and luckily found a great squad of similar level players to tackle the two hardest gold trophies in the game. After one more fiddly trophy one of my squad helped with, it was a nice coast to the 'impossible' plat.

I look forward to seeing how the game evolves with new enemies, weapons and mechs and will be back to fight for democracy and freedom once again.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Congrats on the Helldivers 2 plat. It would be one of those games you'd expect half the trophies to be a headache and the other half a lifetime commitment

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I've went and pre-ordered FF7 Rebirth despite not being sure it's what I'm in the mood for at the minute. Had meant to replay the Remake beforehand but couldn't get back into it

message 3595: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 666 comments Cheers. Isn't Remake essentially part 1 to Rebirth which is part 2? (With a part 3 to follow?).
I've never played a FF so may be very wrong.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Pretty much. Took the original chopped it up added some spices but forgot to turn the cooker on....

Aesthetically, they did well but personally I prefer the flavour of the original...

No idea where cooking comes in...

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I think I'm going to have to replay the Remake first. Stuck on Rebirth there briefly, and minutes in was scratching my head. I'll leave it to the weekend to decide I think.
