The Video Game Forum discussion
What have you been playing: before the forum was deleted?

I’ve put the smooth aside this Friday evening, to give the missus a rest, and I’ve been playing Robocop on a Friday of all days. And later I’ll be playing Warframe with mates.
Welcome Dennis. I don’t think anyone here plays Apex. Call of duty 3 that’s an old game. I actually liked it back in the day but we’re talking 15 years ago. I don’t suppose the multiplayer severs are still live.

Hope that’s alright with everyone here.

Absolutely fine Hancock. I’m sure the guy that trolled any COD talk is long gone. Not that we talk much about COD much on here. Well, at all. It’s mostly talk about stuff I don’t understand. Elden Ring and platinum trophies.

Welcome back K. Yea we were all kicked as a certain ex forum mod deleted the forum without warning. This forum was raised from the ashes. It’s all calm here now and welcoming. We didn’t get everyone back but the few that remain keep the forum active and if we get Shelf Rot people over here all the better.

I liked what they did with Star Ocean The Second Story, the combat became a bit of a chore towards the end for me these days, but they kept it true to the original

Still a fair bit to go in the current playthough and I'll play it as though I'm attempting the plat, but at the moment, I think I'll have a separate playthrough for each of the endings needed for the trophies. It's not one I'm likely to get tired of, I reckon it'll be a contender for my most played game of 2024 to add to 22 and 23.
And turns out my Tesco grocery yearly wrap-up wasn't as interesting as the PlayStation and Spotify ones...strange that ;)

I've got that thing where I just can't be bothered to start anything new. Even Requiem which I've been looking forward to starting ever since finishing Innocence. Doesn't help that I feel shattered all the time but maybe a little break can be a good thing.
Take your time with your 250th plat Deck. I need some time to catch up ;)

Makes the Subterranean Shunning Groungs look appealing ;)
And the lake of rot...
And that one area of the haligtree....

The only thing I found a bit cheap was how a lot of the enemies (I read this online and agree with the statement) 'bumrush' you and knock you down all the time - the Tideripper especially was awful for this, it's massive and just bellyflops on top of you and rolls around and you can't get off the floor for ages lol. But the world, the story, the acting, the animation, outfits, skilltrees, weapons, Aloy...all fantastic!!
Bit of a break now before Burning Shores. Something shorter!! Maybe AC Mirage? Or something more linear - recently bought Dishonoured 2 off the store, may give that a go?

Morning all. Completed Robocop Rogue City over the weekend. Good AA game. Enjoyable combat and is Robocop in a game. Could do with a bit of polish in the cutscenes and in the graphics (the graphics are actually good just a little low res). 7/10 on the r-score-o-meter. And I even got the platinum trophy, which is pretty straightforward if you pay attention to the missable trophies - although none are truly missable as there is an automatic save file for each chapter but I didn't need the saves in the end.
I did download Alan Wake 2 - my next game - but in the end I wasn't in the mood for any more gaming over the weekend.

I reckon I'll just go ahead and plat it this playthrough. I've pretty much everything in place, just a matter of uploading the save at the right point for all the endings

Wasn't expecting the plat so quick, so now I've no clue what's next.

Superb single player campaign. Compact but not a ridiculously short COD type affair. Will be a good blast, refresher after something like Elden Ring.

About to start The Crew Motorfest.

Morning all. I started Alan Wake 2 over the weekend about 6 hours in and got to the end of the first 'New York' levels. So far very good. The experience is a little different from AW1. It has the same errie vibe, the same excellent story telling (albeit with a lot more live video) and has basically the same combat but less of it (at least so far). The case investigation mind room is OK, and probably better for keeping up with the complexities of the story, but it's not really my bag. Also in the New York level the light stealing mechanic I found confusing at times and swapping between realities in the subway tunnels was a bit confusing too. I do love the environments though. Going through the wooded area with Casey and then in the New York streets with Alan, across the rooftops and then into the subway was excellent. The game really has drawn me in. Defo different to the first AW1 but with a lot the same - hopefully makes sense - it's just presented differently but with the same world and reduced combat. Looking forward to playing more.

Yea I can't say I enjoyed the first and only boss fight encounter. It was OK but sometimes I just hated him disappearing and reappearing as I often couldn't see him.

K. AW1 divides opinion. Many love it and many hate it with equal measure. I love it. Control however I think is mostly universally loved. So perhaps Control might be a good first game to play although connections to AW1 are in Control especially one of the DLC expansions so maybe AW1 is the best place ot start. Probably didn't help you there :-). Anyway if you do ever play them prepare to be confused by the story.

Hi everyone.
Hope all you haws been doing great.
I myself just finished a game that i never thought i would be willign to play...Redfall.
Truth be said, although its not a masterpiece or even a great game its actually pretty fun in the state it is now.
Its basically a looter shooter in the style of Borderlands in a much smaller map and tone that it doenst get either very dark or very light.
It started to get really addictive after a couple of hours and i actually glad to have given it a chance.
It took me 43 hrs to finish it and i had nearly zero bugs which is a massive improvment from the state it was launched.
its a 7/10 game for sure.
Deck...this is our Andromeda for 2024. :P

Not really heard or seen much of Redfall, since I've given up on my xbox I've not really paid any attention to their exclusives

I gave up on Redfall on the Benny bill boss fight in a circular room. It was a good few hours into the game. Perhaps the worst boss fight I’ve ever experienced.

You mean Bloody Tom or the one before that has those Bloodbags feeding the boss all around the area?

Slow progress with Nier: Replicant. It's great but I have to take breaks on account of the overall weirdness.
Tried out Path of Exile...that game is not even playable. It constantly stutters and pauses, even on Series X. It only took a handful of deaths due to freezing during combat for me to uninstall.

Oh yeah. That´s the first major boss.
That was a bit annoying but there´s this boss called Bloody Tom later on that made me literally threw away my controller as i was dying over and over and had to check a video and still died over and over. Really poor design on both of them.
The other 2 bosses in the game were actually well designed (but nothing special) and very doable.

Some of the combos in the melee pits were awful to try and get right. And I have no idea what I did differently on the occassions I did them right compared to the dozens of times I failed at them? And in the actual game fighting machines etc I never use any of them - just always hold R2 for a charged heavy hit, then fire bow to detonate the glowing blue circle or score a critical hit with R1 if the opponent has been knocked down.
