Morning all

Thought i finished Dragon´s Dogma last night but aparently i didnt as the game now wants me to collect some shards and fight enemies in a place very similar to the Chalice Dungeons in Bloodborne.
This feels like post game content as i did watch a bit of the credits before some world even hapenned.
I do hope it doenst take too long cause i went from a feeling of great acomplishment to being completely confused as of what im suposed to do now and how i actually finish the game.
Im now also confused on when should i go to the DLC island.

haha. Good hawings.
Dragons Dogma is pretty good but KC Deliverance is on another level. If you take your time with it you maybe find one of the best rpg´s ever made.
I thought it was amazing.

I thought of buying Paranormal Activity VR but after watching the trailer i noped it faster then a ssd drive.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I'm giving myself second place after Neo: The world ends with you, Akiba's Trip, Empire of Sin, Darkest Dungeon, Brigandine, Human Fall Flat, Legends of Talia and Titan Quest within the past 7 days. And I'm hovering over Tribes of Midgard

Oh yeah and forgot the PS5 controller

That´s a good hawing too.

I only bought FC New Dawn last week.
I truly dont know what to haw.

There´s this game i´ve been chasing called Narcosis. Its not on sale but it only costs 16 bucks.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Spending £60 on a new controller you'd think Sony could include a charging cable with it....

I have the one included with the PS5 (and probably a dozen of the about the house) but it's seems a wee bit stingy of them

Glassmoon - The Benny Hill of Plats | 779 comments Mod
You know, im seriously considering getting a Series X over the Ps5 when the new consoles are stocked up again.
I cant explain it very well but im really not feeling the Ps5 at this point.
I got a message from a local store yesterday saying that they were getting PS5´s and my excitement was zero.

Error | 408 comments Hey Glass - Go to Bitterblack Isle. Imo, it's the best part of the game. The main quest served me to level up enough that the first rooms wouldn't wipe my party. And you NEED a party for Bitterblack. Have you started dragonforging gear yet? Anyway, I suggest getting lost there for a while. It's a whole different experience.

I played some more Dead Cells recently. I like the gameplay, but the progressive difficulty is a bit ridiculous. You are supposed to complete the game five times to unlock everything. I've done it twice, and the game is basically pure misery now. Near instant deaths without perfect play. I think I'm done with it. Was nice for a dozen hours or so anyway.

As a palate cleanser, I played Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition. I played it back when it originally released, and just had this edition in the library from a Games With Gold freebie. The game is still pretty great. I was having a lot of fun. As long as you don't put any thought into why I have 100 bow & arrow headshots in my first half dozen hours and how Lara is able to walk after as many hours of straight up physically torture, falling off cliffs, and helicopter explosions, its a nice ride ; )

Hey mate.
All my armor is now dragon forged and i got a very good sword and shield after i killed the big red dude. :)
But now im suposed to find 20 wakestones and i only have 6 i think.
Btw, the end battle was beyond epic.
Now that´s how you make a boss fight.

Error | 408 comments You are ready. Go visit the labyrinth. Fight fantastic beasts. Enjoy magnificent treasures. There are many secrets to be found. Be prepared to escape back to the entrance at any point. You will not make it to the end until you've forgotten yourself in the process (forgive the drama).

Classic Final Fantasy lineup is ideal for the most part; couple fighters, white mage, black mage. That or take extreme amounts of consumables.

I’m hoping they do a slim because the PS5 looks massive. I’d have to put it behind my TV I think to accommodate it. I’ve no plans to get it anyway until there are at least 4-5 games on it I want to play. Everything so far is not my bag. I think there is only God of War Ragnarok at the moment. Of course I’m sure there will be more in time - Uncharted, TLOU, and others. Killzone and Resistance would be great too lol - I joke, I know these probably won’t happen.

Hi mate.
Im not sure if i really want to go there.
I´ve been fighing bosses for the last couple of days in the everfall and i still only have 11 wakestones which means i have another 2 more days to farm the 20 i need.
At this point this is like the Chalice Dungeons in Bloodborne. Its just fighing mobs and bosses and im getting a bit tired. From what i read the DLC island is suposed to be realyl hard and im not really sure if that´s what i want. I usually really hate bosses. lol.
Im ony doing this now because i read that after giving the 20 wakestones i get the true ending and i want to see it.

Played MS Flight Simulator last night for a good couple of hours on my Series X. Very impressive looking graphically. And flying a Cessna pretty straighforward - I did the tutorial for the Cessna and in all honesty I could have flown it without the tutorial. I flew over New York, and then over the my current home town and my house where I live now. And took off at a small airport in manchester, flew over my childhood house and then landed unannounced (I didn't even crash) at Manchester Airport - felt very wierd. It was good fun but I can't honestly see me playing this much as sims are not for me. I might play it again - see if I can at least upgrade to a faster plane that goes a further distance. I like the idea of flying across the atlantic or something like that in a jet. And flying around some of the world's wonders (grand canyon etc).

Error | 408 comments R - I'm a bit jealous...looking forward to flying over my own house at some point, hah. After that I can see it being fun to take the occasional flight when you learn of some new interesting place in the world. Chasing big storms with the real-time weather data might be kind of fun as well.

Glass - I didn't hate the everfall, but it was much more annoying than Bitterblack Isle. BB actually has a lot of character and mysteries to solve. If you're feeling burnt, and wanting to just wrap up the main quest I understand. I was suggesting a change of direction though, thinking it might reinvigorate you. No worries, but if you quit the game without trying it out, you're shorting yourself imo.

I hear you Error.
I think its only the Everfall thats burning me out.
Last night i had my arse beaten by an Hydra that reaaally pissed me off. Everytime i cut one of the heads it would regrow right after.
At one point i had 3 heads cut but suddenly the beats was back at full strenght. How the hell am i suposed to kill it??

Can i also find the wakestones or shards in BB?

Also, in post ending all the mobs i´ve encountered in the world are much more powerfull.
Will the monsters also be affected by this in BB?

message 319: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments There are 3 progressively more difficult zones in BBI. I don't believe there is any enemy scaling like the main area, as this is it's own thing separate from the main quest. The monsters you face will be semi random based on the room size. Yes, wakestones/shards are loot there. The loot there is higher quality than basically everything else in the game, and there is a lot of it. Unlocking new areas and discovering secrets and high quality loot makes BBI much more rewarding in my opinion. There is also no faster place to level. Good luck!

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I've mostly been playing Neo: The World Ends with You the past few days. Quite like it, though the combat does become a bit of a button basher once you get 4 party members and is a bit on the easy side so far.

And I cracked and picked up Hitman 3 despite knowing it'll probably be a week or two before I get around to playing it. It has a plat unlike the first two but reckon it'll be beyond me. Think I'm definitely in the "like buying games as much as playing them" camp

Hi everyone.
So i finished Dragon´s Dogma last night after 60ish hrs.
I started the BB expansion but after 10 minutes i realized i was very tired of the formula and decided to do it some other time. I gave the pawn the 20 wakestones and saw the true ending.
I really liked this game althouhg the Everfall post game part tarnished a bit the overall experience i got. To me, the game should have ended before the Everfall part as it felt a bit pointless, imo.
But overall it was a very fun and exciting rpg.
My only gripe was how they handled the narrative part. It was all very thin and the muted character felt a bit awkward at times but the gameplay made it up for any narrative shortcoming.

I give it a very solid 7.5 out of 10.
If it had a bit more focus on the narrative, dialogues and choices it would easily ramp up to a 8,5.

I think i´ll start Far Cry 5 tonight.
Been having dat itch for a week now and i cant think of any other game atm.

Morning all

Started Far Cry 5 last night. I only played like 1 hr but i actually liked what i played. Specially the dark tone of the game. It doesnt feel "cartonish" like FC 3 and 4.
I also LOVE not having icons and minimaps all over the place. It feels more "real" and i started my exploration im a very natural way and already found a couple of places because interest lead me there.
Also, the graphics are gorgeous. Its been a while since i played a game in HDR and i was stunned.
So far so good.

Also, i hawed Wolfenstein 2 and Disco Elysium last night.
I almost bought Hitman 2 but i never played one before so i really dont know if its for me.

Me too Error. Actually already downloaded. I read some reviews a few days ago and they seem mixed - some glowing, one or two very average to bad, I even saw one 3/10 review - but I checked ACG's review last night and he absolutely loves it. So I'm defo gonna give it a go now. I've really enjoyed some twin sticks shooters in the past and this in terms of artwork and graphics looks next level. I think I need to prepare to die a lot but hopefully it's a doable game rather than a throw my controller at the TV type of game.

Error | 408 comments R - seems like a good strategy is to coop a bit before starting the actual campaign. You can start out a little OP that way.

Glass - There are snakes, but not that many and not particularly dangerous ones. We are much more concerned about stumbling across a moose, skunk, or mountain lion. Bears too, but smart people just don't really bother with grizzly bear country. A lady was dragged out of her tent and mauled a few weeks ago about an hour from my house. That area cleared out pretty quick. There were lots of articles reminding people to secure food away so they don't attract animals. Apparently she went to bed but left out the barbeque.

Hi all. Been playing The Ascent. Nearly six hours in. Think I’m on the fourth campaign mission. It is an amazing game. They’ve nailed the cyberpunk theme and artwork. The graphics are very very good, some of the best I’ve seen. Albeit I’m surprised considering how colourful this game is there is no HDR. The world is massive and full of detail and variation. The combat is so rewarding too and fun. I’ve struggled with most of the boss fights but got there after 3-4 attempts but I’m concerned the difficulty may ramp up later in the game but so far so good. Honestly this game should be getting more fanfare - it’s truly amazing. Only criticism is the world map is confusing and the story is passing me by a bit but the cut scenes are pretty good. For a game made by 12 people they’ve pulled off a miracle considering the quality and scale. Enjoying all the RPG elements too messing about with upgrading guns and skills. It’s a defo 9/10 game so far. And it cost me nothing.

Well, i stumbled upon a rattlesnake already and it didnt look harmless at all. lol.

So far im really enjoying FC5. First of all the wilderness is beyond beautifull and imersive. I disabled all the world icons and music which added a lot to the imersion. I just love walking around and explore and since the game doenst fill up the map with icons i explore what i actually find while walking. It makes the game very...relaxing? I know its a FC game but i do feel relaxed while playing.
Im still a bit confused over the progression but from what i understand i just have to do missions across the map until i liberate the 3 zones after the initial island.
The game may become repetitive but so far im really enjoying it and i cant wait to go back to it.

I also really like the american setting.
We all got used to play games that use other countries when wanting to portrait opressive govermment scenarios but, and not wanting to go political, after what happened in the states the last couple of years, its actually somewhat realistic and refreshing to play a story like this.
I know its a bit farfetched but not completely irrealistic if you think about it.
I like the take the game is going for.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I'm still working my way through Neo: TWEWY and enjoying it, though since I've one eye on the plat, it's taking a lot longer than it could.

Also played a little Hitman 3.....well haven't actually played any of the 3 content, you can play the first 2 games in Hitman 3 if you own them, so I mostly just messed about in the first few levels of the first game. Picked up some of the second games dlc as well, so I'll likely be playing it on and off for months to come

message 336: by Error (last edited Aug 03, 2021 06:39AM) (new)

Error | 408 comments I played a ton of The Ascent over the past few day. I agree with R, the cyberpunk setting is the most beautifully realized world I've been in since Red Dead Redemption 2. It's just makes sense. There are literally thousands of NPCs just wandering around the world, a large percentage of which you can interact with. The level of detail in backgrounds and environments is absolutely next gen. It's a grimy and lived in neon sprawl.

I have a lot of mixed feeling about the rest of the game. The shooting in general is satisfying. But, I have had 3-4 hard crashes while playing. I've encountered half-dozen broken quests, including a main story quest that forced me to start the game over with a new character. I had another main quest bug last night, but after I reset the system I was able to progress. I've also had things like my found weapon skins disappearing from my inventory. The difficulty is all over the place. It's not too uncommon to fight lower level mobs and then run into higher level zones that just wipe you out. Also, the mapping in this game is broken. Markers load incorrectly and lead you to the wrong place. I'm still playing and enjoying the game, but it's mostly because of the fantastic setting. There are some very significant issues that really need to be addressed before I could recommend the game.

Yea it’s a shame Error the game is buggy. For me I’ve had one crash so far - which isn’t unheard of nowadays generally - and no other bugs that I noticed. If I’d had 3-4 crashes like you yea I wouldn’t be impressed. Difficulty wise other than boss fights no issues for me although I’ve kept to the main missions and not ventured off piste. I did stray a little but thought better of it. I have done some side missions but I was several levels above the recommended level for the missions. Not noticed any missing skins. I saw a YouTube video of a bug to gain repeated credits from selling items but unfortunately not been able to trigger it myself. Fingers crossed I continue to experience a relatively bug free game. And no sudden ramp-up in difficulty. I do like that the checkpoints are very frequent - I’ve not had to repeat much after dying.

message 338: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments Rob - I think doing side quests triggers a number of problems for the game. Several times now, it appears a side-quest gets bugged (even if it is low level) by trying to complete it early. I have had a few quests that I was able to go back and complete after progressing the main story a point where I encounter the side quest area naturally.

Don't get me wrong, I'm deeply impressed with this game aesthetically. Especially as the work of 12 people. I'll also ask if you've played any missions with timed defense against waves of enemies? Those are particularly unpleasant missions.

No I’ve not played the timed missions but I did notice them in a review. I thought to myself they have the potential to be annoying. I hope to play this game all the way through but if it becomes particularly frustrating I have no issue binning it off. I hate not completing games but I hate frustration even more. Fingers crossed I don’t get to the point I find the game annoying.

message 340: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments Lol...like I said there is a lot of balancing to do for the game to realize its potential. I have over 200k credits in the bank but haven't been able to upgrade my guns for hours. I have no high level components, but dozens of basic ones.

To save you frustration on the timed defense mission: Remember that the game has multi-tier aiming/shooting. If you are on a lower level, you can just let the enemies advance toward you and shoot up at them while they can't hit you. Use specials when they break through. Don' ask how long it took for me to discover this was the best strategy.

Morning all

Still having a great time with FC 5.
Its weird cause i dont feel like im following a long main story. Im just doing missions randomly as i explore and talk to people which works well.
Instead of a long story it follows short and contained missions that allow me to have a blast for a couple of hrs and then call it a night.
Im not sure if the formula will remain fresh during the whole game but so far im enjoying it.
Last night i was almost falling asleep but ended up in a huge lake surrounded by montains. Once i got there i was attacked by a wolf, survived, then was attacked by two cultists but was low on ammo so i noticed an airplane in the water. Ran there, entered and took flight out of there.
As i was enjoying the vistas i thought this was an hidroplane so i couldnt land on the ground and realized i was flying a plane when i should be sleeping cause it was damn late. haha.
Thats why im loving this game. It throws everythign at you and tells you to just have fun.

I know where you´re coming from.
I like to play them but i prefer when they are not focused on punishing the player.
The Amnesia games work very well because if you die the game makes it a bit easier for for so what really matters is progressing and enjoy the atmosphere.
But a game like Outlast, that you can actually die and have to repeat the sections until you prevail can get really stressfull in a non healthy way.
If i was in that position i´ll have an iron bar or a stick with me all the times so its a bit unrealistic not having any means to defend. Its very scary for sure but unrealistic.

Im really curious.

Still enjoying FC 5. Although the game runs fine with no fps drops i which it had an option to run at 60 fps. Its one of those games that the 30 fps really mess with my head after a while. The movement has a slugish feel behind it that i dont like with all the moving aroung.
I wouldnt mind at all trading a bit of graphical fidelity with a good solid 60 fps.
Apart from that, im really enjoying the experience. I do miss the crocodiles i confess. I love that sense of menace when entering waters and here there´s nothing at all. I know they dont exist it that enviroment but it would be cool nonetheless.
