What have you been playing: before the forum was deleted?
Guardians of the Galaxy was a weird one for me - thought it was a lot better than Avengers, to begin with thought it was great....but lost interest midway through. I mean to go back at some point but can't see it being for a while
Black Ops Cold War is even more ridiculous than I thought in install size. 246Gb... I know there's quite a few game modes in there, but from what I remember it's not exactly groundbreaking in terms of design and visuals, so it's a little confusing as to why it's that big. And took so long to install not sure I've the motivation to restart it now lol
I can sort of understand why you may have left Guardians of the Galaxy. Its good but it isn't that good. I think it got more praise than it was perhaps due just from being better than the Avengers game that came out around the same time.I'm going to stick with it though as I'm over the half way point and got the story related missable trophy done. I'm hoping to finish all chapters this week and then hopefully I'll just have a few combat related trophies to mop up.

The story was nice and thrilling, The characters were well developed and funny and the visuals were really good.
I did feel that the game dragged a bit by the end as it felt like i was moving from one arena to the next.
The strengh of the game was the story and characters and not the action and i think they focused a bit too much on the later in the final act.
But i did like it overall.
On another note, Skyrim got its hooks on me again.
I checked last night and i have 140 hrs in the game and zero trophies cause i play it with mods. :(

Just looked at the trophy list for Hot Wheels Unleashed 2. Plat looks doable and only need to complete 10 online races (rather than win 20 as in the first game).

It does feel a bit frustrating, tbh.
At this point im just using Skyrim to get pass the boredom i was feeling with what i was playing.
I honestly think im a very tired of open world games. Cyberpunk was not grabbing me, Elden Ring was grabbing me but i was lacking the will power to make my own adventure. Every game i feel like playing quiclky puts me off when i think about open worldness.
I played AC Odyssey till the end but i never actually click with it although the game was the same as Origins which i adored so i think the problem was in me.
I know Skyrim is 110% open world but im so used to its mechanics that i just feel like im doing little quests without putting much mental effort on it so im having uncompromised fun until i truly feel like playing something else.
Mostly playing Cities Skylines the past few days. Pretty much at the same point on PS5 that I was on PS4, only a few trophies off the plat...but one of those involves 100+ extra hours, and when you've done everything already, it's 100+ hours of boredom so that's me moving on. Do like the game, the 1001 nights trophy less so.Might get stuck back into Elden Ring (PS4). Started a dual wielder that was pretty fun, though I'll likely come undone at the first challenging enemy.
So what do folks make of the upcoming smaller ps5?Officially unveiled yesterday, but is the same form factor that was leaked back in August. If I wanted digital only then I would lap it up, but I don't, I like having the optical drive, and with that attached I think it looks pretty awful! The disc drive sticking out makes it lose the smooth curve of the original shape.
And I also don't get why they have opted for the plates to be half glossy, half matte - that smacks of the launch editions of both the ps3 (all glossy) and ps4 (half glossy) which were both swiftly changed to all matte in subsequent revisions. But I guess that's something that can sorted with customised plates.
But suffice to say, I am very happy with my full-size ps5. As said, imo if you're going to have a ps5 that can play discs, I think the original shape looks a lot better. I have an 1100 model and replaced the white plates with black innoAura ones (basically a poor mans dbrand Darkplates 2.0 lol) and it's fantastic. I would literally prefer the 1200 model for the approx. 20% less power usage, but I had no idea the 1200 was just around the corner when I bought mine, and I wanted to get in there before the price bump. I certainly far prefer mine over the upcoming smaller revision.
Yeah, if you already own one, there's nothing there that would have you rushing out to buy one.

Yea I don’t like the new slim disc version. Looks wrong. It’s even got a little retractible leg stand - for horizontal orientation- which looks like it’s made of clear plastic. I’m not the biggest fan of the PS5 design but other than the slight size reduction it looks worse.
Strong rumours of a Pro model next year too. I liked both my PS4 Pro and One X but they had a clear need being the first 4K consoles. I’m very skeptical the PS5 Pro will have enough of a tangible benefit although I’m getting pretty miffed with the number of 30fps games coming out this gen so if it solves that issue I might be tempted but it might be better to wait for PS6.
Yeah, that little horizontal orientation plastic leg looks truly awful.I don't know why they haven't just gone for selling just the digital console, and the disc drive is an addition you can buy and attach if you want to?
For the pro next year (it's happening) i kinda hope they do only sell a digital version, and if you want to add a disc drive then you can buy and add the one that's coming out next month. Universal PlayStation detachable disc drive, use with either standard or pro ps5.
I would only be tempted by the pro anytime near to its launch if my ps5 starts to perform really badly or breaks. I deffo won't ever be getting the revised smaller standard ps5. Maybe get a pro in early-mid 2028 on sale just before the ps6 launches - and the pro would deffo be my last ever console.
I'd be a bit interested in a PS5 Pro. There's definitely been a few too many games that struggle with both frame rate and visuals, Ok maybe struggle is too strong a word, but less than perfect anyway. Don't know whether that's down to the hardware or maybe just lazy optimisation from the developers though, maybe a combo of both
Kind of half tempted by Lords of the Fallen tomorrow...but think I'll wait and pick up cheap. Between WRC, HW Unleashed 2, Alan Wake 2 and the MGS Collection towards the end of the month, don't think my wallet can take it.
I've only had my PS5 for just under a year so definitely not interested in a slim model. I love the PS5, its a much bigger step up from the PS4 than I thought it would be. It's so quiet and the difference between PS4 and PS5 versions of the same game are huge. Plus the fact you can play both versions is a massive bonus.I'm more interested in that PlayStation Portal thing when it's a bit cheaper.
I've been really ill over the last few days so not played much. Felt a bit more human this afternoon so played another chapter of GotG.

Yea have to admit some games even from quality devs have been a bit mixed - take Jedi Survivor, 720p and choppy frame rate. Difficult to understand how it can be so bad. Darktide on Series X looks 720p too. It’s bizarre. I was expecting at least 1800p 60fps minimum this gen but rarely games are this. So if PS5 Pro is a locked 4K 60fps then I might be tempted.
I’ve been playing Darktide and completed 3 missions, failed two, all with randoms. It is a really decent fun game very much like left4dead but with more leveling of weapons and characters. Only thing that lets it down are the graphics. Great environments but just low resolution, a bit like Jedi Survivor. Just trying to get on the Modern Warfare 3 beta but not looking good.
Hopefully Darktide will see continual improvement much like Vermintide 2. Right now it really is quite shocking how much better Vermintide looks despite releasing a generation ago in 2018. All told, very fun game but hasn't fully hooked me.I've been looking forward to Forza as well. Great month for gaming personally.
Beat another boss in Lies of P and decided I'm still not in the mood for stress. That said I think they've unbalanced it a little, I was struggling with the boss in terms of melee a little but took huge chunks of their HP bar with grenades/consumables. Could almost have beat them without even swinging. Feels like it should have been a tough fight but ended up a bit of nothingness, and didn't really give the same satisfaction of a victory you usually get in these types.
Evil West is kinda tempting me at £25 in the weekend offer...no must focus....

Sounds dodgy Deck.I continue to feel like death but played more Guardians. Thankfully I can play the last two and a bit chapters without following a collectibles guide. Apparently the last 4 outfits I need will unlock naturally and I then equip in NG+

Having a bit of a goldfish attention span at the minute, back to jumping between games. Probably because there's a few games out in the next few weeks that I'm more than likely to pick up. HW Unleashed 2 this week, Metal Gear Collection and Alan Wake 2 next, and WRC the following. Don't see too much else the rest of the year apart from Persona 5 Tactica and Bulletstorm VR
I finally finished Guardians last night. Overall an enjoyable experience but I'd had my fill by the time I finished. 7.5/10 for me.Just need to do one combat trophy via chapter select and wear all outfits in NG+. Just slightly worried about accidentally over writing my save when starting the NG+ though. It's not very clear what to do.

Rob - What class are you using for Darktide? I started with Zealot which is fun and straight forward. Now I'm playing as Psyker and that is a completely different experience. Quite a learning curve but I've been having way more fun with Psyker's magic abilities.

I’ve only tried Veteran which doesn’t seem to have any special abilities really. I googled best class and saw some people saying veteran but it’s quite a conventional class. I really like the look of the big fella.
Gave Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 a quick go this morning, and yep, it's seems to be more of the same. Which is fine by me. Trophy list looks fine as well, though there'll no doubt be something that holds things up.
I remember having a look at the Hotwheels 2 list and thinking it looked OK. The online section looks easier as it's races completed rather than wins.PowerPyx have done their Spider-man 2 trophy guide. It's only a 2/10 difficulty with no missable trophies.

Can't say I've a lot of interest in Spider-man 2 at the minute. If there was nothing else out, I might be more tempted, but now I'm in no hurry.Knocked out the online trophies in both the PS4 and PS5 versions of HWU2 while I was in the mood. Doesn't seem overly long, unless there's something that holds me up, I reckon both versions could be platable before Metal Gear Collection next week

After a week and a half of just playing Skyrim i started The Evil Within 2 last night.
Not sure if im ready for a horror game but i just went for it.

Btw, the first and only trophy i got so far is not showing up in the trophy list despite having got the notification for it.
I dont recall this happening before in all my gaming career...
Also, i may have ordered a 2 TB internal SSD for the PS5... :P

My back log is growing though. My missus is either getting me Alan Wake 2 or Assassin's Creed Mirage for my birthday, there is Callisto Protocol on PS+ and soon to be the Dead Space remake on games pass, MW3 is out soon and I'm playing Darktide and Forza plus my wishlist is growing. Good times.
I think I'm a victim of the Glassmoon Bugged Trophy Curse. There's 2 in HWU2 that should be straightforward - complete waypoint and drift master events... I've done them all, both in career and quick modes and nothing. Some have managed it so I'm hoping it's just one of those trophies that the description is misleading.....shouldn't have mentioned something holding me up earlier....
OK the waypoint one popped by playing 1 of the 5 needed online, hoping the other is similar

Technical marvels, Miles Morales, Spiderman Remastered and especially Spiderman 2, from a graphics, performance, open world city, polish p.o.v they're probably the best games ever available on a games console, but from a gameplay p.o.v they're not anything super special, not really doing anything that wasn't done in 2009 in Arkham Asylum, albiet what they do is done in a much flashier way!
But given all that, I confess I do love them. They really scratch a particular gameplay itch!

Yea at the end of the day it's what floats your boat. Spiderman is definitely a polished game and few match it for polish except maybe other PS exclusives. I just don't vibe with spiderman and although swinging around and the fighting in spiderman is polished it just doesn't get me excited. Strange as I was quite happy delivering parcels in Death Stranding lol and I'm looking forward to Mirage (how many AC games have there been lol) but AC when they get it right I love (not Valhalla) and Mirage looks like a return to the type of AC I like - short, focussed, great combat and stealth, great world and doesn't outstay its welcome.

Sony confuse me sometimes (well more than sometimes). They plaster the PS store with Spidey 2 stuff but under the gameplay tab, it's what 5 seconds? no doubt there's more comprehensive stuff elsewhere but they can't even bother showing on their own site...Lazy, arrogant or they're happy the spideys will sell themselves ( which it likely will do, thus the lazy, arrogant) but puts way too many doubts in my mind....though there's one screenshot I saw that reminds me of the old Prototype game from a couple of gens ago.. Maybe it's time for a Prototype 1&2 replay....
Got all the slightly worrying trophies out of the way in HWU2, not as bad as I feared, so it's not going to be a difficult ping. I reckon the ps5 one will be popping shortly...
Platted the PS5 version of Unleashed 2, now its a different one of the PS4 trophies that looks like its bugged....damn you Glass!
Nice one Deck, that was quick. I know with the first game I spent quite a lot of time replaying races trying to 100% them all. A few had some quite difficult short cuts to do.Is that a similar case with the second game or is it more straight forward?
It's more straightforward, you don't have to worry about the unleashed goals, but even then, they seem to have eased off with the difficulty for those. The only ones i had to try a few times were the new drift master races. Nothing too difficult, even the bugged trophies can be sorted with an online game or quick play

The PS4 version is looking like a bit more of a grind. Not having much luck with the treasure hunt vehicles this time around, had them all by this point in the PS5 run. Looking like a lot of grinding for cash to refresh the shop
HW Unleashed 2 and WRC are both on my radar but also ones for next year too for me. Along with that new Robocop game.
Going to try and finish at least 3 chapters of Guardians of the Galaxy today but struggling a bit for motivation.
